Should have been the winning run.

I could see why some of the judges picked Andy for first place, but on my scorecard I would have picked Nick. I've always loved his trick selection and how he includes some ollie based stuff. He's going to be an amazing pro!

This was the winning run by a long, long way. Trick density, variety, technicality, smoothness... all on point. If we're really saying one step off makes all of that worthless, then we might as well all spend the entire run doing one long nose wheelie. Ridiculous.

Balance is a huge part in the points for freestyle. He had a few more unlanded tricks than Andy, might have had more tricks but more doesn't always add up to better. If he would have dome more manual tricks then yah I agree he should have won

Who were the judges? Bunch of nobodies I'm sure. Loosers that don't know anything about freestyle, right? Anyway, who were the judges?

@@ragnarsilverboard6803 Just my personal opinion: I'm no judge but skated freestyle for a long time and competed in the 80's. Andy's run was smooth, but slower tricks, lots of wheelies, balance and mad flow. Great to watch live. But even he congratulated Nick right when his scores came up, and said "Dude, you should have won". Nick's run had a higher level of difficulty and IMO represented modern freestyle and where it's headed. I think Nick could have added some flow in his transition tricks, and maybe even a simple re ordering of the tricks with a crowd pleasing ender. That would have elevated his scores, even just a bit.

I can't identify with much of this style of skating.... but it's so fun to watch. The tricks are crazy.

how did that not win the whole thing? I know sometimes its decided by only a couple of minor things but I dont see Andy being 3 whooping points better than this killer of a 2nd run. It has about twice as many banger tricks while also being as slick as this floor seems to be. Andys has the best balance in skateboarding, heck he may even be the wheeli goat, but he lacks in variety that nick offers. Especially taking into cosideration what the other skaters got scored highly for. Kinda feels off to me tbh.

love andy but i 100% agree with you, his trick diversity was lacking in comparison.

maybe the lack of a fall and a complete clean run? definitely closer than the scores imo

Andy's 1st and second run were flawless and were different where both of these seemed to be almost identical with minor mistakes. I think the variety and perfection andy brought to both of his runs gave him a slight edge in the judges eyes.

@@netzerish easy to put it on the judges, andy wasted alot of time doing the same couple low impact tricks (i dont see the runs as that different per se.. yea just watched again, 90% of the run was repeated) while nick took bigger risks but did mess up. the fact that he had a bebop in the run to me says if he had landed them all he would have won.

"falling" definitely subtracts points. andy rounds weren't quite as technical but they were without falling and really smooth transitions between everything.

In freestyle its common to create a routine / run based on a song, and try to hit certain tricks and synch them to moments in that song.

Blade, bike, or run. Some songs make me flow or push me through. I’ve been skating to Nick’s song for a few days now. Sooo groovy
