The Excellent Landscape Architecture of Wimbledon Common

Wimbledon Common in SW London has evolved from medieval, and feudal, common land into an excellent public open space. It is good for golf, good for recreation and superb as a biodiverse resource which makes a significant contribution to sustainability and conservation. There has been little involvement of professionally qualified landscape architects. But it exemplifies the fundamental principle of landscape architecture in the specific sense that a great many technical skills have been coordinated to produce a really good public open space.
