Thank you for sharing your vision. I'm Somerset-born, although have drifted in my retirement to North Cornwall, and I volunteer on two reserves in Devon! All three counties have excellent wildlife trusts and they really have to be the focus points for individuals' efforts, IMO. I only wish the past and current governments displayed some sincere commitment to supporting local natural projects, but I believe they pay at best lip service, and greenwash what is fundamentally continuing destruction of our natural herirage in the name of neo-liberal economics, which almost always either frustrates or worse counteracts the dedicated work of wildlife trusts and individuals.
Rivers don't naturally travel in straight lines, but in meanders that give us diversity. Search tip: Rivers and Streams: Life in Flowing Water Nature landscapes are not flat but rough with a variety of piles, rocks and vegetations (trees) besides waterways between, keeping just right amount of relative humidity. Insects don't thrive in too hot dry periodes.
I used to visit the old guy that lived there and it was never intensively farmed but good work for the future

Very interesting film but why no Map? This would all have made a lot more sense if I could have seen where Honeygar is in relation to surrounding features, rivers, SSSIs, Reserves etc.
Somerset WT is up there in my eyes with Norfolk as very pro-nature. I live in Dorset and there is a small farm nearby which is being re-flooded and re-wilded. The bird life is getting better and better. I have despaired in the past, for example when my local lapwings disappeared to make way for...a golf course and "nature footpath". Keep humans out of it as much as possible in these special areas, so remove/reduce canals, ditches, drains, dams, etc
I’m keen to know why you worry so much about carbon CO2 , with carbon in atmosphere currently at .04 of 1% up from 170 years ago at .03 or 1% . If carbon drops to .02 of 1% we will see dramatic drop of in plant life ?? Just asking
I'm sure they will say it's based on the latest scientific evidence, as it was proved during covid, if you offer a scientist enough funds they will back almost anything.

I had to go to wikipedia to find out what this video was about - it’s a 81 hectare piece of land.

Looks great but not sure about the intensive farming comment. I used the visit the old guy that lived there and he never farmed intensively.
