I've been doing omad for a year now. I've lost 85 pounds. 2 shirt sizes. No more high blood pressure. Sleep apnea reduced significantly. I plan my meals out a week in advance, every week. I'll go food shopping to shop for the good im going to eat for the week. Omad 100 percent works.
I am eating OMAD and I have lost 48 lbs in 68 days and I have it easier to do than 16:8 Fasting, I feel that I can keep this as a lifestyle and It doesn't feel like a diet to me.
I don't. Know why, but for me OMAD has been the most convenient type of IF. I don't feel hunger, I feel full, my stomach doesn't hurt... It's the best!
I was unsuccessful on OMAD and only managed 6 full days before completely crashing (it is obvious now that I did nothing correctly! 😁) Thankfully I found your channel and I'm doing great on an 18:6 (2MAD) protocol following all your guidelines and advice; 14 weeks in and I'm down 20 pounds. This may seem slow to most people, but I am thrilled with my consistent, steady progress and the very visible differences in my body composition, so I'm confident that this new lifestyle is 100% sustainable for my long term future. My one concern was the sharp rise in my recent cholesterol values (specifically LDL) and my GP's insistence I go on a statin, but simultaneously declined my request for a NMR test to determine LDL-P, so I have decided to go against medical advice - after watching your cholesterol video - and I am not going to take the medication.
@letsgoladies looking back now, I definitely was not eating enough protein and fats, and possibly drinking too much water as well that may have been flushing my electrolytes. I also suspect that I may have been insulin resistant at the time because I felt constantly dizzy and nauseous, as if my glucose levels were too low and I wasn’t efficiently burning fats yet. Overall, I think I went ‘too hard, too fast’ for my body. For 9 months I’ve stuck with 2MAD but recently changed to a 20:4 IF schedule (I’m working towards that OMAD plan) and so far I’ve managed to shed 50 pounds, I’m now in a ‘normal’ BMI arrange and I’m starting to feel healthy and strong.
@@shs4293 I follow all the advice Autumn suggests by focusing on protein, fats and fibre; simultaneously avoiding all refined carbohydrates and sugars. I eat a lot of ground beef, eggs and chicken breasts and a lot of salads / vegetables (sprinkled with olive oil) to go along with it.
I've tried cottage cheese with sardines, and they go so well together. So now I know how to work it right from watching your video. Thanks for your help.
I’ve been doing OMAD, and am almost 30 pounds down. Typically I have 2 beef burgers with cheese and an egg on top of both, a protein yoghurt, a protein bar, and mixed nuts. Stuffed for the rest of the day.

Hi Autum, I have reached my weightloss goal and now I want to maintain using intermittening fasting approach. Any suggestions for not losing and maintaing weight loss?

So I limit it to 6 eggs/day plus a ribeye steak and some sardines, butter and bacon for my OMAD, which am doing under ETRF protocol in a 8-10am window. Just finished for today, and eating wise, I'm good for for the day!

This is quite timely, glad I found your channel. I have been Keto since June, lost 50 lbs, and recently been OMAD to boot (mainly because I am no longer hungry, ever). Still have 50 lbs to go. Do you have a more complete meal plan? I need to vary my meals, so rotating through steak, seafood, and protein powder+eggs will work best for me. I have found fatty steak to be by far the best OMAD meal for me. Fatty steak gives both the protein and fat needed for amino acids and fat for hormones and works during digestion with responses at the stomach and intestines to both give us nutrition and induce satiate. Some veg if you want some likely won't hurt. I do not eat fiber, but it does work to help satiate too, so if you want to, it works, and personally, I believe this is the single largest possible benefit of fiber, but just my opinion and not even close to universally shared. I do not like ground beef for the same reason I don't like anything powdered. It is not in the natural state we would eat it in and it likely changes the way we digest it and adds opportunity for bacteria and other contaminants to enter and possibly short circuits our ability to obtain nutrition from it. It is contested as to whether this is good or bad for us, with no real concise conclusions that I can find yet, so I choose to err on the side of going the more natural route. Much like fiber though, I am not convinced one way or the other on net benefit, or detriment, and am just being cautious for myself. If ground beef, powdered protein or fiber don't seem to bother you, wouldn't let this stop you eating it if it seems to help. If one chooses to try OMAD, enough fat is usually the key from what I have learned. I used to think it was protein, but after much more study, the .7- to 1 gram of protein for lb of ideal body weight seems to work well, but many people undereat fat, especially when not eating carbs. I personally find no reason to eat any carbs as they are not required, so I can only deal in protein and fat. Excess protein seems to be handled well if you are metabolically sound, but not if you are damaged as it will prompt more sugar to be made by the body and cause continuing issues. If you get enough fat to protein in one meal ( and fiber if you eat it ), you will generally not be hungry between, though it can take a while to get back in touch with true hunger signals. Many people just cannot eat that much at one sitting, especially if coming from standard grazing all day long, and if the intestines are still damaged, two meals or more seem to work better to allow ingestion of nutrition, but remember that fiber slows or inhibits the digestion of nutrients. ( Why I forgo it while healing ) Remember also that the original definition of 'fasting' was not eating sugar. So, the close you get to no sugar, the closer you are to fasting at all times. No carbs already puts you in a 'fasted' state, so I would not worry too much about going a long time without eating if you are in this state. With all of this though, do not forget salt. @letsgoladies I use Redmond salt. Tried cutting down on the salt and got numb feet. Went back to at least a teaspoon and day, often more, and feet cleared right up. Need that salt, and I also came back to OMAD after some experimenting. I find OMAD by far the easiest and most convenient way to eat.
Hi I am doing Omad I want ask to get right amount of protein as you suggested beef burgers . I started omad because my cholesterol is high I can still have beef burgers ?
??? Hi Autumn, I have read that the body can only digest 20-25grams of protein per hour. Is ingesting a large amount of protein at once digestible by the body? Like will the protein go to waste?
I have been doing OMAD for lunch for a 2 weeks and would like to add exercise, do I have to eat immediately after exercise? How long can I go after exercise to eat?
Just get that food in. Do not worry about the timing. Just make sure you get that food in sometime after exercising. You can eat before you exercise as well, do not make it too complicated. Keep it simple. Focus on eating nutrient dense foods when you are doing OMAD.
Protein intake influences the levels of the growth hormone IGF-I, which not only affects the growth of healthy cells, but can also encourage cancer cell growth
Would someone help me? I was told Not to eat whey protein powder because it will raise blood sugar and mine is already high, is this true? I like whey but trying to get sugars down. Thank u!! 😊
I’m interested in this answer too. I’m type 2 diabetic and always watching anything that spikes blood sugar. The protein powder definitely helps me reach my protein.
OMAD is good for weight loss; just keep your calories under 1000 a day. A 16/8 eating window, with protein spread out over three meals, is good for maintenance. Eating packaged and processed foods is the best way to become obese and develop metabolic syndrome and chronic diseases. Other good sources of nutrient dense protein include poached salmon, chicken liver, oysters, mussels, and eggs. Glycine (gelatin powder) is a good protein supplement.
That's nowhere near enough food for all but the smallest people. Extreme calorie restriction is dangerous and leads to long-term consequences. IF is NOT about food restriction. *It's not about eating less, it's about eating less often.*
@@celticlass8573 Maintience and weight loss are very different. IF is good for both. Eat all the calories you need if you are at a good weight. Be in a calorie deficit and eat low carb if you want to use your stored body fat as fuel.
@@BigPictureYT I'll trust science, not sacrificing my long-term health for short-term (and temporary) goals. A "calorie deficit" isn't eating below what your body needs to function. That's insanity.
@@celticlass8573 We are the descendants of people who often had to go for several days without food. That is why the ability to store extra food as body fat has been essential to the survival of our species. In the modern context, have you ever listened to Dr. Jason Fung? He is now able to reverse Type 2 diabetes using Intermittent Fasting. You can fast for 16 hours a day, fast for one day and eat for one day, fast for three days and eat for one day, and so on. What science makes you think that you will sacrifice your long-term health by eating less than what your body needs on any given day?
@@BigPictureYT You're not interpreting the data properly. There has been a massive amount studies done that point clearly to eating too little having long-lasting metabolic consequences. Eating once a day or once every 2 days isn't the issue, if you eat the same amount of food you would have eaten during that period. Science does NOT support eating one meal that ISN'T the same amount of food you would need over that period. Also, using people in the past who didn't eat for several days as an example of what we should do (aka not eat enough to support our body), is erroneous. When they finally had food, they most definitely did eat as much as they could jam in, because they knew that food might not come around again for a while. And that was also not idea, they most definitely didn't thrive doing that.
you're not eating enough Protein. Seriously, watch Autumns Intermittent Fasting guides she explains how important it is to Eat enough good food during the feeding period
It's a brand of Greek yogurt (Skyr)....here in Canada they sell it as full fat yogurt with less sugar than other brands. I stopped putting it in smoothies when I was trying to lose weight on keto...it's really a lovely textural addition to a smoothie and even just on its own with some walnuts (I'm still afraid of the carbs in berries - diet fears suck and are generally irrational if you're well informed)
I totally disagreed with intermittent fasting and Keto eating. To me, such a regimen was utter foolishness. I was brainwashed on vegan and vegetarian meals with only two or three small portions of meat a week. Nevertheless, I was chronically over weight, 248 lbs. at 5’5”, 65 years old, with high blood pressure, pre-diabetic, frequent horrible gout attacks, essentially teetering on full-blown metabolic syndrome, etc. Then a good friend educated me. Still full of doubts, I wanted scientific arguments to convince me, so I read books, watched hours of reliable (true) MDs promote intermittent fasting and keto meals. I figured out of last-chance desperation, I’ll try it. Nothing else was working. The results were startling the first week! In less than a month I lost several pounds, was never hungry during fasts, no more gout, slept better, everyone complimented my obvious weigh loss and improved health. I am now fasting OMAD, one healthy, keto meal daily, with NO dense carbs, no processed foods, no sugar, diet soda or artificial sweeteners, no vegetables oils, etc. I eat a well-prepared very healthy meal every day at 1:00 pm, with lots of fresh vegetables, healthy fats, meat, and fruit, no junk food, and I drink seltzer water or herbal teas during the other 23 hrs, with one or two cups of coffee. I’m angry that I never tried this years ago. When I reach my goal at 160 lbs, I’ll have just two meals a day most days to not loose too much weight, other days I’ll fast. I am so satisfied with the ease, the extra time I have, the less expensive this is, etc. I would do nothing to change it. Unlike some who may have difficulties in the beginning, I never had a problem, it was just simple, easy to implement and scientifically sound.
It just seems like you would've ran out of interesting things to say regarding the proper human diet by now. But no it's still good, and I appreciate it. Way less stressful than all the political stuff too. I'd put you right up there with sports.
I honestly don't see how OMAD can be done, let alone long-term, if you're eating real food, in a balanced way and getting enough of what you need. My sense is that many if not most people who do OMAD or even more extreme, just aren't doing what they need to, and will feel the negative effects later. Three full balanced meals in one meal is a LOT of food, far more than the average person can pack in.
I have heard that the average man can only process 35 grams of proteins at one time. Any amount after that causes oxidative stress and produces neoglucogenisis.
Completely healed my kidneys on OMAD with beef and eggs for more than a year. Have since generally gone to two meals a day with the second basically being a snack, but still perfectly functioning kidneys and rid of all other issues I had too.
why would you premote something that can be bad on the body by making a what to eat and what not to eat video i love your videos and your information but the OMAD is so so unhealthy for anyone of course you're losing weight you're eating one dang meal. this is sad to see that people are getting so desperate for weight loss they will starve them selves even drs will tell you the 16:8 ratio is the most you should go
Sustained adherence to the same 16-8 all the time is actually not good (same for OMAD)...recent studies suggest throwing some variation into the fasting schedule to promote metabolic flexibility
She isn't promoting it. She's aware that some of her viewers are doing it, despite her saying in other videos that she doesn't support it, so she's giving examples of how to make that one meal count. I'd wager that the majority of people who do OMAD aren't eating properly, or enough.
@@celticlass8573 doesnt support it but yet makes a video on how to make it count .... that just makes no sense to me if you dont support it then either dont make a video on it orrrrrrrr make a video on how harmful it is and can be i get your point but making a video like this is contradicting dose that make sense where i was coming from? i dont word things the best at times i lost my mom last year to a mental and physical form of anorexia she was so scare to eat that she ate only once a day and most days made food only to toss away and was 49 5' 4" and 70 pounds at time of death .... so this triggers me a lot and concerns me for others well being as well
@@cherylwecels3960 yes i have seen those studies but for certain people. for example fasting should not be done for people who are diabetic/pre diabetic or have pcos which pcos is what i have it throws your blood sugar out wack and can lead to a much high level mid or end of day as well as lead to much more uncontrollable cravings as well as binge episodes
@@lexieburchett6786 The thing is, people are doing it regardless, they know it's unhealthy but they do it anyway, and she can't do anything about it. Why *wouldn't* she try to help them mitigate permanent damage? As for why not make a video on how harmful it is--she has, and has spoken a few times about how it's just not a good idea to do OMAD or even more extreme fasting. It's why she always says that it's not that you eat less, it's that you eat less often. Just like people who insist on drastic calorie reduction in addition to doing IF--people will do what they want, even if it's insane. They see nothing but the need for quick results, and are either fine with the long-term consequences (which is scary), or they ignore the known and documented risks for their own reasons. But I don't think Autumn is wrong to try to help people who insist that they do OMAD despite her warnings. They're going to do it anyway, and at least they have a bit more information now to try to lessen the consequences. If even one person who insists on doing it regardless, hears what she's saying, it's worth putting the information out there. I'm so sorry that happened to your mum, and to you. It must have been really difficult to witness, and not be able to do anything to help her. 💛🌺

Just get plain. :) You can add what you want to it.
What about lentils?
for some reason I can't eat fruits or vegetables. I'm very full. Any supplements you can advice?
??? Hi Autumn, I have read that the body can only digest 20-25grams of protein per hour. Is ingesting a large amount of protein at once digestible by the body? Like will the protein go to waste?
That's outdated data, turns out you don't need to limit per meal.
You can eat 50 grams of protein at once is fine.
I didn’t know why many nutritionists don’t recommend whey protein
Protein intake influences the levels of the growth hormone IGF-I, which not only affects the growth of healthy cells, but can also encourage cancer cell growth
Would someone help me? I was told Not to eat whey protein powder because it will raise blood sugar and mine is already high, is this true? I like whey but trying to get sugars down. Thank u!! 😊
I’m interested in this answer too. I’m type 2 diabetic and always watching anything that spikes blood sugar. The protein powder definitely helps me reach my protein.
Drink it with a meal or right after a meal, keep all carbs low
How do you get calcium and iron on OMAD when iron and calcium together, you don't get iron?
😅😻 great video, don't know that I could maintain OMAD for long, but love learning about new things!
What is skier live in Australia never ever heard of skier
So1if I am 250, looking to drop down to target weight-such as 175-180 bases on the #s, is an 18/6 or 16/8 better?
You don't need either of them. Just clean your diet and do regular exercise.
I would do a 20/4 mid afternoon.
Can you please recommend a non whey protein? I can't tolerate whey
Chicken and beef. They are way better than whey.
I really don’t understand the OMAD eating routine. Why?
Thank you❤
Ya'll are overcomplicatong this, get a whopper with cheese from burger king and call it a day... the plan is to not think about food
That's the way of a lazy and unhealthy person.😂
And that was also not idea, they most definitely didn't thrive doing that.
ilost weight and hair on going OMAD. now i am on normal eating!
you're not eating enough Protein. Seriously, watch Autumns Intermittent Fasting guides she explains how important it is to Eat enough good food during the feeding period
DO YOU USE YOUR SLEEP HOURS
AS NOT EATING HOURS????
Yes
No chicken?
What is skier?
It's a brand of Greek yogurt (Skyr)....here in Canada they sell it as full fat yogurt with less sugar than other brands. I stopped putting it in smoothies when I was trying to lose weight on keto...it's really a lovely textural addition to a smoothie and even just on its own with some walnuts (I'm still afraid of the carbs in berries - diet fears suck and are generally irrational if you're well informed)
Or it's someone flying down a mountain on a pair of big sticks😁👍
@@cherylwecels3960, Thank you! LMAO
Heeeheee couldn't resist🤓
70/30 for beef.
What the hell is skeer?
When I was vegan, I called it temp-uh THEN! 🤭
I have heard that the average man can only process 35 grams of proteins at one time. Any amount after that causes oxidative stress and produces neoglucogenisis.
That's outdated data. We now know it's not true.
@@celticlass8573 Source?
i didn't grow up calling tempah anything bc we would never have eaten that fake food lol
14 eggs is easy, if your name is Cool Hand Luke.
Maybe even fifty if ya got an hour to spare.
@@joecrone9862 That's the one 😂.
I’m one of those few people who can eat 14 eggs easily 😂
She has movie star looks like me
The video teaches you eggs-actly how to do that eh? 😂😂😂
Kidneys Will be Very sad and sicks with such amount of animal protein but OMAD is a great protocolo.
Your body needs what it needs, regardless of how you decide to eat. If you can't eat that much in one meal, perhaps OMAD isn't for you?
Completely healed my kidneys on OMAD with beef and eggs for more than a year. Have since generally gone to two meals a day with the second basically being a snack, but still perfectly functioning kidneys and rid of all other issues I had too.
Having omad makes women talk too much.
Hold on hold on…..so your telling me anorexics should be fat as hell not thin because they barely eat anything
What is this chick talking about the average person needs 55g of protein a day that a single burger pattie
Youre talking out of your ass... I didt lose muscle.. even at 500kcal per day omad. And mind you at 20% body fat im around 95kg at 184cm
whey protein on omad , holy moly stay away
Bla bla can't you speak slower
It is so unclear.
Ya want to hear something funny?
I can't listen as fast as you talk!
🤯
So make the video play slower using the settings wheel.
why would you premote something that can be bad on the body by making a what to eat and what not to eat video i love your videos and your information but the OMAD is so so unhealthy for anyone of course you're losing weight you're eating one dang meal. this is sad to see that people are getting so desperate for weight loss they will starve them selves even drs will tell you the 16:8 ratio is the most you should go
Sustained adherence to the same 16-8 all the time is actually not good (same for OMAD)...recent studies suggest throwing some variation into the fasting schedule to promote metabolic flexibility
Meat? You should evolve!
I think a sign that someone is evolving is when they understand that everyone and every body is different.
