    With a yarn (Merino Aran) wi th which I use a 5 mm hook, how many stitches do you think I need to get started with the frontpost DC, back post DC? This is to go around top of calf, just below knee (not thigh as I believe yours are planned to fit). Thanks! (also, do you think 200 g of yarn will be enough for both legwarmers ? ) Thanks so much.

      Hi - that I would not know, your foundation chain stitches will depend on the thickness of your yarn, hook, how tight you crochet your stitches and the measurement of your calf - you need to do a swatch and then decide how many stitches (also I will have to put elastic in mine as they like to keep slipping) - I usually put link to my blog where there is a lot more explanation and or a written pattern in the DESCRIPTION below the video - here it is and I hope it will help you - handmade-rukodelky.blogspot.com/2018/01/unicorn-legwarmers.html

      The pattern is multiple of 4 ... You should make as many chains to fit your leg, making sure the total is a multiple of 4

      thank you 🌸 the yarn I used is not much stretchy, you may have to use some elastic so it holds on her legs 😉, it holds a bit over the leggings, but falls eventually. there are quality yarns that I would rather use for this project.

    i'm about midway through my first leg warmer, and I was wondering if there was a way to make it smaller around the ankles? Since my thighs are bigger than my ankles, it gets really baggy when it comes down to the ankles. Thanks!

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  5 років тому

      Good question Christine 🌸, I like the flare up at the ankles, but if you want you could do the same effect of crocheting through the back and front posts on both ends, or try to decrease so it is narrower at the bottom - good luck 🍀

    Hi is there any way to add a foot to this for someone who is in plaster to the knee?

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Ellen, this is a great question - this is what I would do: when I would crochet the length to the ankle area (where the heel starts), I would crochet 1/2 of the row, then cast on new stitches (chain) and attach them to the beginning of the row. I would start new row. When I would reach to the pinkie toe, I would start decreasing to close the toe area. Of course you would not have the heel covered, not sure if that is very important, but this is what I would do. You could do so called after thought heel, but I do not have any video on that. Hope this helps. 🍀🍀

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  5 років тому

      Hi Martha - if the legs of the person are even thinner than mine, I would decrease my stitches by 1-??? repeats depending on the diameter of the leg

  • @vickiwilson7396
    @vickiwilson7396 5 років тому +1

    Can I use thicker yarn? I hate the thin yarn

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  5 років тому +1

      Vicki - Yes, use any thickness you want but adjust the repeats to the size of your thighs 🌸, you can also use a smaller hook - which would make smaller stitches and thus it would get smaller in diameter (but I am not sure how that would work out for you)

      Just wanted to shoot in I'm up to row four in the changing patterns part (after the first 10 front and back post ones), and realized you weren't kidding when you said you had skinny legs! Tried it on, and it's pretty tight even at the calf..
      I guess I should have listened better. Despite thinking I have skinny legs. I didn't take into account they're skinny for someone of 180 cm....
      Thigh above knees measure to about 17 inches... Undo time!!
      But I'm confident once size issue is fixed, it'll be great ^^

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  5 років тому

      Yess - add stitches in your last row (of front and back post stitches) and make sure you add for the multiples (not sure if 1 or 2 multiples for you) - I have a feeling you know what you need to do - my thigh right above the knee is 14"

    • @mirawenya

      Was afraid they might be too tight, but they seem alright. Thanks for the help!

      Gaby - I don't have time - I work now full time and at the moment overtime (this leg warmers video took about 60 hours to make = start to finish), but you could make lower number of repeats to fit smaller leg - and you would have to put also an elastic so it stays up and doesn’t fall down 🍀

    My cuff is great, but the bottom is getting a lot tighter, almost too tight. How can I correct this?

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  6 років тому

      hi, are by any chance decreasing? - or is it just how you crochet? the cuff is a little thicker so it may feel wider, however, my piece is stretchy lengthwise and widthwise too. My legs and arms are thin, and perhaps you may do more repeats (increase to few extra stitches after the cuff)? Or switch to a bigger hook if you are able to put your leg/arm through. I hope this helps. 🍀

      Floofer I started crocheting not long ago. It’s easy if you just try it out. Get a nice yarn (bit thick, not thin, acrylic (I find wool hard to work with, it’s like it resists and wants to tangle), and a needle that fits. (Ask in the yarn store/follow pattern recommendations).
      Then follow a video and do _exactly_ what they tell you to do. A long ring like in this video can be intimidating, cause it’s hard to get control. But it’ll get better soon. If ypu have to unravel and start again a few times, that’s just part pf the experience:p
      You could also look up tutorials on how to do different stitches. My first project was a virus shawl. Was pretty easy.
      These will be my next project! Just need some yarn...
