Good honest review, we picked up our city life a couple of days ago, really impressed with everything so far. Great vision from drivers position, quality interior and exterior, solid clunk of the doors, quiet driving around town, with also the instant pick up on acceleration, we looked at a few different makes in this price range, but the VW has lots of standard features which won us over.
We just picked one up too. It's around $6K cheaper than its competitors especially when you factor in the equipment levels. You also need to be aware of the following ownership considerations (not unique to this car): (1) Expensive servicing; (2) It uses a timing belt that needs changing at around 5 years @ $2K; (3) Euro spec brakes wear out the rotors and pads quickly 35,000 Kms to 40,000 Kms @$1,600; (4) It's direct injected so inlet valve carbonisation is likely @ 120,000kms @ $1K to clean out; (5) The plastic water pump will fail before 60,000kms @ $500; (6) The auto gearbox oil is a non-service item, you should change it at 100,000km @ $500. This means when the car is around 5 to 7 years old you will need to budget around $3K for major maintenance items.
Cracking value and excellent packaging. The interior and boot size is almost the same size as a Mazda CX5. This model runs an Aisin (Toyota) 8 speed torque converter auto and the proven EA211 engine. It’s $6K cheaper and drives better than the Asian alternatives… sign me up.
I’m sold! Pity about the blind spot monitoring, I will miss that. I was looking at the T Cross as an alternative, now with this new model release I’ll be buying the t roc.
I have Toyota Corolla 1.6 gasoline 2019 year production. Now, I changed it for VW T- Roc 1.5 gasoline 150KM. It's the better and - in my opinion - nice than Toyota's cars. 👍🌹😊
