He was so not given the credit and exposure he deserved. One of the best singer/songwriters ever. I heard this song years ago and have never forgotten it. I love the song and this video is heartwrenching but I know what it feels like.
Hello from Oklahoma! I was 25 years old when this song came out. I had been working in Canada and then moved back to Nebraska. I left a good women in Canada. This song holds a special place in my heart. I'm 60 now. Glad I found it on Utube. It still brings a flood of memories from a life time ago. Thanks for the video! God Bless!
One of best Country Music videos ever produced. Thank you so much for posting this lost classic Mark Gray video, back when Country Music Television was all about the music and I watched almost everyday.
This was up for the award of “best music video of the year “and it lost to the “all my rowdy friends are coming over tonight “by Hank Williams Junior. I always thought that Mark Gray should have one as his video was so much better and so much meaningful.
wow i cant believe i found this after all these years. this was "our song". Thanks so much for posting this. It brings back so many memories for an old woman.
I have never forgotten this song. I love to listen to it every now and then when I am feeling a little meloncholy and sad and missing what should have been the greatest love of my life.
Got to know Mark a few years ago , spent some time with him , my son sang with him , miss him , so sorry he's gone , Helleva artist and song writer ...
Never really got to meet him in person but I did get a chance to talk to him once via his UA-cam. I told him how much that song haunted in a good way for years. Well that and this old piano I remember he said thank you. He seemed like a nice guy and I love the music.
This brings back so many memories, good and bad. Every time I watch it I just cry. Rest in peace Mark Gray. A talent like yours won't been seen for a long time, if ever.....
I haven't seen this video since it first aired on CMT in the mid 1980's. I had just taken my discharge from the Marine Corps. I never forgot this video or this song but have not been able to locate it - until now. Thank you.
It still brings back tears as it did back when I was first heard it in a bar somewhere in the Arizona desert, back in the '80s. That's when country was country.
I knew Mark . I thought he was talented. I am from Vicksburg Ms. and he came into the restaurant and lounge My Mom and sister worked at . The Beechwood, he always said best steaks in the state
This is just so neat to see this again. I bought a satellite dish back in 1984 lived way out in the country the dish was as big as my house and cost $3000. financed it for 5 years. This was one of the first videos i ever saw on a country station on dish. I thought it was just so good. Thanx for posting it. It has been almost 30 years.
Heard this song back in the 80,s & it stuck with me ever since.Just found it on youtube & it brought tears to my eyes Great video, great song, great Man and Great talent. May God bless his soul.
My favorite singer from the 80's who helped a young man stay grounded. I suffered a brain trauma 2 years ago and have alot of gaps in my memory but hearing these songs jog alot emotion. I accepted Jesus the Great Physician. I heard he too had accepted Jesus and still tours. It would be great to hear him again.
Great Video! Brings back lots of Memories. One of my favorite Artists in the 1980's. I saw Mark 6 times over the years in Concert. What a great Singer/Songwriter/Pianist/ and Performer. His shows were always full of energy and he always had a top notch Band backing him. After the shows he was very friendly and signed autographs for his Fans. I really hope that Mark Tours Again one day. One of the very best Artists in Country Music ever. If you read this Mark... Keep On Rockin' Brother! Thanks for sharing the Video CaleraVoter.....
Awesome song remember it well it's great a band played in a bar I worked at in the late 80s they played it well not like Mark Gray but I've always loved his song brings back a lot of memories and a few tears love the video thanks Mark Gray for a beautiful song !
This one takes me back to the late 80's...when "new traditionalism" was more than a buzz phrase. It was such a risk they took with this "film, short form"...but in an era when country videos were bland, this really shook up CMT for the better.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I remember watching it way back when it first came out. I never thought I'd see it again. This song is so powerful, and it really speaks to me. What an awesome songwriter, and singer! As a songwriter myself I've always said nobody can sell a song like the one who owns it! Great job Mark!
Had the pleasure of meeting him and hanging out with his guitar player some in the mid 80's. Great guy, I've wondered often what happened to him, I thought he had one, if not the best voices in country music.
so glad you found this . they don't make em any more like this. when I sang in the clubs and joints, I would do this song every nite. great song, great video
Such regrets to the one I left Joe Frank in Grand Prairie TX in the late 80's this was your song to me. Wish I could take it back and want you to know I'm sorry and I made a mistake and still love you no taking back now; just wanted you to know
I've always loved this video. This is from back in the day that CMT was called Country Music television and they actually played videos. Bad acting not withstanding, there is a feel about this video that touches a nerve. So... what ever happened to Mark Grey?
I agree!! I love his voice...I would dearly love to have a CD of Magic. I can't find one anywhere... I have an old cassette but I have worn it out...:-(

Probably the very best video ever made to go with a terrific song and a very talented singer. Had not seen this in over 30 years...
I love this song and video. Takes me back to 1987 and 88 when i first heard this song and requested it every time i was in the smoky old bar room.
This is a small miracle. Hadn't seen it in 30 years, and still takes my breath away.
Rest in Peace, Thanks for a great song
