    Hi Anthony, great to see your crops advancing. You can ignore me if you want but I have grown vegies at some level since I was a teenager. One thing I have noticed is when you pour water onto any plant without a rose head, it slows down or even injures the plant. If you had some mulch it would help too. But pouring water onto any plant (not just vegies), seems to injure the plant, or maybe the soil. Either way they just don't like it. It has certainly been my experience anyway.. Also, every season I add compost, blood and bone and trace elements to the soil before planting anything. That way, during the growing season I don't have to add any minerals. Just seasol and powerfeed, mixed together in the one watering can.
    Thankyou for your tips and videos. Nice to watch an Australian garden in real time!

      Thanks for the tips mate. Yeah I should have used the rose couldn’t find it when I was filming I usually use the hose on low flow for watering. On fertilising I have been trying to fine tune it every season to see what works best. I have been adding compost both homemade or manures before every planting but I have started personally moving away from blood and bone. I’m always looking for ideas from experienced gardeners how they fertilise their plants during the season so I’m keen to hear from you and others how they approach it. Thanks for watching 👍

    Great videos Anthony. Quick question if I may, what chicken pellet brand do you use? You mentioned you use chicken manure pellets. Thanks so much.

    • @sydneybackyardveggies9612
      @sydneybackyardveggies9612  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi mate thanks for watching. All chicken manure pellets are the same I generally use agriboost pellets in the 25kg bags ( they make dynamic lifter but this brand is generally geared to farmers so it is sold in bulk) I really try to find the best value for money in my gardening so I buy a lot in bulk bags. I will go for the cheapest but I will compare first the NPK to make sure I am getting what I pay for

    Hi Anthony, your plants are looking healthy but there's always one. While I know you don't use sticky traps I checked mine yesterday. I use them more of an indicator. After being out for 3 days, I was so surprised to so many fruit fly on them. Maybe we're in for a bad season this year with these little bxxxx. Cheers Mate.

    • @sydneybackyardveggies9612
      @sydneybackyardveggies9612  4 місяці тому

      Yeah I think the fruit flies are going to be bad in my garden as well I have been seeing a few around as well. I have some of that pheromone attractant that I will put out to capture the males and I will also be putting out some homemade traps using orange juice and ammonia as the attractant hopefully I can get on top of them

      I have almost 12 birds but some of them are old layers that I haven’t had the heart to get rid off so they hang around and I let them enjoy their life in the garden

    Thanks Anthony, love your video. You may find that the tomatoes may not do very well beside the cabbages as cabbages are what they call allelopathic. This means that the cabbages actively impede the growth of other plants around them, they do this chemically. But you can research this further if the topic is of interest. L.

    Looks good Anthony!
    Have you tried epsom salts with your chlli & capsicum transplants? I find mine take weeks to recover after transplanting, even under the most favourable of conditions.

    • @sydneybackyardveggies9612
      @sydneybackyardveggies9612  4 місяці тому +1

      I’ve done it with cucumbers and tomatoes. It wouldn’t hurt giving it a go. They could be struggling a bit though as the need more heat than tomatoes

    How does this differ if tomatoes are in containers?

    • @sydneybackyardveggies9612
      @sydneybackyardveggies9612  4 місяці тому

      With tomatoes in containers I would try planting them deeper and if you can add more soil around the base do so. The fertilisier you use is still the same just water more often
