This is just simply wonderful.
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING AWESOOOOOOOOOOOMEEE
This surely has to be classed as one of Living Colour's best live performances!
Gittin'' deep, dark, sleazy, & nasty on this one.. outstanding..(As usual) Channeling Mr Johnson and then some.. And still managing to put their own stamp on this classic piece of music. Corey.. just WOW!! One of the few bands that actually DO get better with age..
More Blues!
not sure where you've been for the last 25 years. but this is what Living Colour is about- making great music they love that defies nice neat little boxes!
Great Corey!!!!
HOLY MUTHA F**KING SHIT !
Great emotion given to a great song! These guys are masters of the craft!
look what I found! Living Colour had made it known they were recently inspired to do a Robert Johnson inspired album because of this performance; only, they didn't say they youtubed it. Well, I just found it!
I of course can't wait for them to do a Robert Johnson album!
Well I've been to Beale Street, home of Big Bill Broonzy and Memphis Minnie(not to mention Alberta Hunter). Living Colur's effort to put a heavy metal slant on Robert Johnson was kind of the point actually.
5:00 in HOLY SHIT!!! DVD?!?!?!?!?!?!
I originally tuned in thinking I was going to hear a tribute performance to Robert Johnson, then they started to play and I was like ....is this Metal?!?! Sounds like they were more influenced by Zeppelin than Johnson. I would be curious to know how many people on that stage have actually been to Dockerys plantation, Clarksdale, Greenwood, Crenshaw, etc. (Maybe on a vacation)
Johnson way of playing sounded like "metal" to his contemporaries. He's where bluesrock started. He's where metal originated from. And this performance of Living Colour is out of this world -- it is as haunted as Johnson's playing was.
No note perfect tribute here. When you cover a blues song you reinterpret it and make it your own. This version is extraordinary. My opinion anyway.
