Evan Peters' character is based on HH Holmes. He was a prolific serial killer in the early 20th century. Holmes built a hotel with hidden rooms and torture rooms where he killed his victims. Peters is unhinged and hilarious this season!
@@KelliFranklinyou should look up The Report of the Week aka Review Brah. Dude looks and talks like he’s straight out of the 1930’s and his dry humor is hilarious.
The hotel was located on the South Side of Chicago during the World's Fair in 1893. I've seen the site. It's torn down now, and a Post Office exists there. Apparently, the original basement is still there. That would make an interesting tour!
I find hilarious that after 4 seasons of AHS, your go to mentality is still "how are they still alive?" The question should almost always be "what are they?" 😄
Although it was the first season of AHS to not receive an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Limited Series (no other seasons have been nominated since Freak Show), it did receive 8 nominations including 2 supporting actress nominations for Sarah Paulson & Kathy Bates. In addition, Lady Gaga won Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Film at the Golden Globes where the series was also nominated for Best Mini-Series or TV Film.
@@RoseTen2012 crazy how uniqueness makes someone far more attractive. Meeting someone who has a accent or speaks another language man or women is attractive as hell haha
A combo of great costuming, grooming/makeup, and that TransAtlantic way of speaking. The character is debonair, suave, and alluring ... even though he's pure evil.
The Countess character is based on Elizabeth Bathory. She was a noblewoman from Hungary who murdered several women and girls in the 16th-17th century. I’m not sure how the rumor started, but allegedly she bathed in their blood to preserve her youth and beauty.
The rumors started because she was a wealthy land-owner and several men around town wanted her property. They started rumors that she was a murderer and a witch so she would be stripped of her land and castle. Just pure classic misogyny
@@helbrahealsmakes sense to me. I do think she killed or was probably responsible for the death(s) of at least one person in her life via her privilege. I’ve never really bought that her body count was in the hundreds or that she bathed in virgin blood, but that’s the most common version of the story.
@@skyofthelivingdead She did, she's known to have the most kills as a woman serial killer in history, after the police found out she was imprisoned in a cell in her own castle where she died, there was only a small hole in the wall for sunlight, I think the castle where she lived is open to tourists
25:54 that will be important by the time we get to episode 12, honestly it could go either way. Hotel is an extremely divisive season, but I'm havin a blast seeing you enjoy it & see it all start to piece together.
When I was a child, we all got measles and mumps. And we loved it! We got to stay home from school for a week and get catered to. I had never heard of any kid dying from it at that time.
A friend of mine got either chicken pox or measles, can’t remember which, but I do remember we were in kindergarten so this was around 2000. She was out of school for about a week and came back with a scar on her cheek from one of the lesions, but that was it. Most kids have pretty strong immune systems nowadays.
@@skyofthelivingdead If it left a scar, then it was chicken pox. If you scratch the lesions they can leave scars. in the '70s they didn't immunize kids for measles mumps or chicken pox and it was encouraged that all children be exposed. These diseases were considered harmless for children but could cause sterility if first exposed when you were an adult.
I mean not at kids have the same immune system, just like COVID normally it will not cause a severe period on kids but there were cases where kids did lose, it's the same with these decieses
It's funny, Siouxsie and the Banshees are a relatively obscure band (more so in the US than the UK, where I think she might have more of a mainstream following), but their songs are in so many movies and tv shows. I think just about every single tv show about witches uses Spellbound at least once, Batman Returns used Face to Face, etc.
I wouldn’t call Siouxsie and the Banshees obscure at all. Their following was bigger in the UK for sure because that’s where they’re from, but they’ve always been incredibly popular in the alternative scene. They’re just not mainstream popular.
I think you’d really enjoy Twin Peaks. Creepy, mysterious vibe with some horror turns. Very influential show and not a lot of people react to it. With just 3 seasons and 1 movie, it would be a quick reaction.
this is honestly one of my least favorite seasons but im glad youre enjoying it! thats part of what i love about ahs, every season has a very different feel and hits or misses completely different depending on the person
The writers really do their research on the history of horror fiction. Erotic symbolism has been part of vampire fiction almost from its beginning in 19th-century novels. In the late '60s and through the '70s lesbian vampire movies were a popular sub-genre, mostly made by the British and European low-budget horror studios. The vampires this season seem almost directly inspired by the larger-budget 1983 British modern-day vampire movie _The Hunger_ , which was stylishly directed by Tony Scott (same guy as _Top Gun_ ) and starred French actress Catherine Deneuve as an ancient vampire, rock star David Bowie as her most recent consort, and Susan Sarandon as a doctor specializing in sleep and ageing research. The vampires don't kill with fangs, but use sharpened Egyptian ankh pendant to slash the victim to drink blood. After several centuries David Bowie seems to have resumed aging no matter whose blood he consumes, and he hopes the doctor's research can help him. Deneuve, otoh, sees the doctor as possibly becoming her new consort.
I noticed my comment was deleted i wasn't trolling. Ryan Murphy make a lot of references on this series that is going on today before our time. That's why I said he's a genius

I personally would recommend seasons "Murder House" up to season "1984" of AHS. After that they started getting prettty bad in my opinion. My favorite seasons are Asylum, Hotel, Coven, Apocalypse, and 1984. And my least favorite are Roanoke, Cult and Murder House. But I couldn't get into them after season "1984". The writing just went way down hill after that in my opinion.
There wasn’t enough people wanting me to react to them and I didn’t see many other channels seeing success with the other apes films. So I watched them on my own and made a ranking video like a week ago.
One day in the future you ought to watch the whole series a second time, because in your reactions you are saying every thought that is in your head during each episode--- and it seems that this verbal diarrhea is causing you to miss a good deal of nuance, dialogue, and more. I understand that there's a lot to absorb while watching AHS, and that you can't just sit there silently during these videos. It's just kind of a pity that you're not experiencing the show properly.

All vampires since the first film Dracula in 1932, have been gorgeous and sexy. One of the biggest critiques of Bella Lagosi playing Dracula was that he was too good looking and the way women saw Dracula was inappropriate. They were thinking about recasting the role or have the project stopped. Vampires don’t age and revert back to when they were most beautiful after they are turned… if they are meant to continue living. If not, the victims were just dog meat. Like that first couple watching Nosferatu outside on the lawn and was seduced just by the eyes of the Duchess. They were meant to be eaten, not turned. The children’s blood tastes better than adults to The Duchess. That’s why they are being kept and being fed jellybeans. I for the longest time could not figure out who was playing John Patrick March.
