Eurohike Hiking/Camping Lamp Repair

I repair a Eurohike lamp. Not very complex design nor repair, but I decided to show it because I think it's always good to repair even simple things. I also take a look at why the "Variable resistor" dimmer design is poor - just wasting power, I then take a very brief look at an alternative circuit theory that would waste less battery and keep the brightness constant.

I had a similar issue where my cable detached from the base rather than the light and I taped it together and it worked! you are the best person in the world thank you so much :))))

Somewhat simple repair, but I want to encourage folk to fix not dump!
You could use lots of things to repair the shaft. I used a bit of nylon, but any plastic rod, hardwood, or even some epoxy putty would do the job
