I recommend watching AirZach’s stream on him playing this mission. He’s the va of aether and actually voices the travellers lines :3 along with him and lumines va bullying dain lmaooo

Idk, for me she fits way better as a villain. aether is too much of a sweet heart to be a villain
lunime seems a bit more ruthless after what happened to her, like she is trying to be more straight forward, while aether hesitated... it is like he isn't into this kind of business and really wants just to be with his sister, while for lumine it seems like she is really into it... it shows their personality is quite different... i like that.
Well the Opening Cutscene already kind of implied it. Lumine was the more combat-ready, Aether did show slight hesitation.
It also reflects in their Animations that Lumine seems more refined in her combat style, moving almost like dancing and overall looking like she's done this countless times.
Aether on the other hand looks like he's struggling either due to being less experienced or due to being injured.

@@MikayaAkyo I don’t really think he’s struggling though? It’s obvious they’re thousands of years old (Mihoyo confirmed they’re 500+ years old) and have been in many worlds so Aether being less experienced makes no sense.
I think it’s more of a fighting style kind of thing, Maybe he likes to be wild and free when fighting, Doesn’t really care much for blind spots and weak spots,Like fire ig, And uses for force then needed which makes him stagger and stumble a little.
I guess he’s just more of the aggressive twin, If you look at cutscenes with Lumine and Aether side by side, And at official arts, He’s more aggressive and fast in his actions and in his official art he looks kind of angry and looks like he’s ready to fight or is demanding someone to not get closer/ to step back, So maybe he’s more of the “Yay friendly fighting” x “I’m gonna f*cking kill you.” depending who it is and the situation while Lumine is more calm and composed.
Traveler voiced the "Well... Could you help me put up some missing posters...?" part but not this..? 😭
They are sadly a bit too strict on the 'mute MC' thing at the wrong times.
I really feelt surprised during the Prologue where Aether/Lumine just yell 'Venti!' because it was a thrilling scene and finally having them actually speak in a cutscene was pleasently surprising.
At the end of Liyue, that being the thing that was actually voiced feelt boring. I mean it was kind of a comedic relief thing to do, but i'd rather have them finally change the Traveller to NOT be a mute MC.
@@MikayaAkyo I don't really mind them being mute most of the time, because that's voice acting money that could be spent elsewhere, but when it's a scene like this it's an odd choice. Because y'know, it's a really important moment, and it could really benefit from the mc not being mute in this scenario to make it even more impactful. It's just a few cutscenes anyway.

But yeah, maybe not fully non-mute. But in important scenes it would be great.
This one for example or near the end of the Story / during a climatic cutscene.
For example i would've been more invested in the fight against Childe if it wasn't just Paimon and Childe having a conversation while the Traveller just stood there and gestured like a mute trying to communicate.
Like... Voice the Cinematic ones you don't even have choices anyways. That would be enough for me.

The MC only speaks in those animated custscenes that are super fluid, usually when a fight is going on. For dialogue scenes (which are like 99% of the game) the Traveler is mute because in those scenes, you usually choose what the MC is going to say
If Aether and Lumine were real siblings:
"Oh no, it's you. I already told mom we had one less mouth to feed, idiot-"
If this was actually true, the other sibling will be like "Wait what-"

Having Aether, the softer sibling, as the villain is definitely the more interesting scenario for me. Imagine how sassy and straightforward Lumine is until she discovers that her brother turned to the dark side although it's extremely unfitting for such a sweetheart like him. It's kinda heartbreaking to think about.
Edit: Wait woah woah i didn't expect this comment to get attention cbxbdhs just to clarify, it's just an hc of mine. I also like the idea of abyss princess lumine tbh. I'd play the twin i didn't choose in a separate account and enjoy the story just as much.

I actually love both concept, because Lumine is gonna more determined to get her brother back and why he join such thing, while aether wouldn't really care why his sister join the dark side and just want his sister back

I was tricked by the Genshin trailers and thought there were different storylines depending on which twin we chose (like FE3H). At first I just went with the Aether was canon MC thing, but I started regretting choosing him.
Aether is an adorable sunshine boi and I love him to death, but I was so drawn towards Lumine being the Traveler and Aether the Abyss Prince. The “sister saves brother” trope appeals to me more than the commonly seen “brother saves sister”. So yeah now I wish I chose Lumine T-T
I find it more sad as traveler lumine and abyss prince aether tbh. Since the headcannons take aether as the soft/nice one and lumine as the sassy one it really turns the tables around if that makes sense. For example traveler lumine would think ‘if my ‘sunshine boy’ brother became this cold what kind of terrible thing is going on’ or something. Idk if this really makes sense but thats what I think

I would say, if you chose Lumine in your first account, you feel like resonance Character voice filled instead doing fair twin. Those are twin, can't be Betray each other.

Lumine is, from the get-go, depicted as the outgoing and sassy one while Aether in the beginning Cutscene seems more passive.
Emphasized even more by Lumine being the one talking.
Not to mention she's the little sister. So it's a reverse trope from the "older brother goes into journey to save little sister". It's interesting.
I had a dream where Aether saved Lumine when she was about to die (Aether as abyss prince) then Aether destroyed all of Teyvat, because he couldn’t save her, that was sad :’(

@@arocomisgamusclademork1603 I think it's better. Depends on which kind of Villians you like. If you want a broken, Vader kind of villian, choose Lumine as your main character. If you want a cold, calculating, Thrawn like Villian, choose Aether as your Main character.

When the siblings meet, Lumine is warning Aether about what Dain did in the past. She sounded angry when she found out they were a team. Aether has a more concerned tone to his voice, afraid that Lumine will get hurt by Dain. He sounded like he wanted to go back, but couldn’t due to who was there.
That’s just how I see it though. I know other people have different opinions but, please don’t yell at me for it. Thank you 😊
Lumine's story with Aether is just tragic,and idk many people like tragic,moody stories more so if you like that,Aether could the main villian.
However,Aether's story with Lumine as the villian is dark and unsettling,it all gives the feeling when you are the less skilled yet gentler one and your more exceptional sibling decides to join the dark forces by her own will and you are a so helpless on contemplating how to bring her back because you know you can't win no matter what you do. Damn..

Zach also did this quest with his voice reading out the texts that's he choose in aether voice.
Honestly, having two accounts with both travelers, they both fit the role perfectly. Lumine is secretive, and cold, but still holds some warmth. Aether sounds like he has stuff to hide as well, wicth desperation and a grudge. It's really amazing how it can be seen from both sides. Both as the traveler player fit as well.
I haven't played it and linda want to play now, but because of that I can't choose who to play 😆

So in the cutscenes, your sibling addresses Traveler as the canon names Aether/Lumine, instead of the name the player chooses. This means Traveler chooses to be named differently, which is odd. (Unless of course, you name yourself as the canon names.)
Is it really odd to hide your identity when you're some world travelling, probably immortal being? During this quest line and also hinted during others, we find that not only does the Traveller do stuff off-screen that we are not privy to, but they also keep a lot of knowledge and details to themselves, stuff not even paimon is told about

To me, it felt like they gave us the option to pick a name because we lost our memories AND powers. We had no idea what was going on until we started getting our memories back. So possibly we picked a new name because we couldn’t remember our own name.
But our sibling would obviously remember our own name, so thus they call us by our name.
Both are great as the villain. It's just that, thanks to the delivery of their lines, gives of a different feel from each other.
Lumine sounds like she is on a crusade driven by a sense of justice, and the only way to stop her is to kill her. While Aether sounds like he is only doing this because something/someone he cares about is going to get hurt if he doesn't step up, like he doesn't personally agree with the methods but sees that the Abyss Order's end goal does justify the means.
I agree,that's why I like Aether's side more. As a gentler character driven by morale,when his sister turned evil which made him helpless that's what made him step up to being able to face her. I think his story is more edgy and dark if anything. Lumine's is more tragic and has more emotion since it conveys Aether's feelings which he's not as great as the villian but more like he has no other choice but to do something. Lumine as the more experienced and skilled twin gives her the more villian vibe than the protagonist if given the chance. Aether is the lesser twin so he suddenly being the villian would be tragic while he being the MC side is dark. My opinion I guess.

No no you are wrong. You know that Aether is the lesser twin,Lumine is the more exceptional amd skilled one.As Aether is a gentler character driven by morale,when his sister turned evil which made him helpless that's what made him step up to being able to face her. Hiss story is more edgy and dark af if anything. Lumine's story is tragic so Aether isn't the intimidating villian since he's broken in the inside and has no other choice but to turn back from his sister so I don't think because he's the 'hero character' makes him a more 'intimdiating villian' ,his gentle personality what fleshed him out more.
Lumine is far worse and she DEFINITELY as you called the 'intimidating villian'. She can be ruthless,she know what's she's up to and because she's more superior,that's what made Aether scared to face off against her. But deep down,villian Lumine still loves Aether and decided not to hurt him but she's still willing for persue the power. It could be interesting how it might turn out in the end. Maybe she might protect Aether,would be on the verge of death,realises what she has done and apologises to Aether for being a bad sibling. (Also who knows,maybe Paimon would be the main antagonist all along,jk hahah)

It's just based on preferences,and like I told your,if you choose Aether,you story would be edgy and dark like most shounen animes while Lumine's side it would be more of a tragic and emotional tone. If I say I am not a fan of Lumine,I would be lying cuz I also like her and her crass attitude and her powerful skills and abilities what makes her a great villain but also a great support when it comes to dealing her brother's troubles. Aether's side gives off how inexperienced and clumsy you are as the main character and you have to face off against a person much more superior than you in a degree who has completely devoted herself to evil but still cares about you deep down leading to a stray and complicated personality. So I don't like seeing Aether as the villain due to his gentleness and the way he's inexperienced doesn't stand out if you are playing as Lumine who rivals the best against Aether every single way.
Since I am an Aether main so it's coming from a person who likes dark edgy stuff lol.
Edit:Also it's stated Aether is the canon protag(makes sense tho) so I think it's best if I roll with him.

With the way they say "we've always had enough time." And that the evil sibling says they've traveled through this world before, I'm willing to bet it's a time loop.
Like whichever sibling you're playing as will become the evil one for the next loop, retaining memories of their travels, and vice versa.

Somehow, Traveler Aether and Villain Aether still looks and sounds the same to me. He still sounds as gentle and nice as ever, tired and broken but desperate to do his goal.
I find his voicelines so different than when he's abyss prince in this cutscene

She sounds like she wants to forget her place and just run towards her brother, crying.

Tbh, In my opinion, I feel like the twins were designed to fit every role I could think off, Mysterious/Important side character we barely see, Playable character, Protagonist, Antagonist, Etc.
I prefer evil Aether more, He seems more upset and broken, And intimidating, As if he had no other choice, And angry at what ever happened and whoever caused it, While Lumine seems more disappointing and cold, Clearly also upset but isn’t as expressive as Aether, As if the truth of the world piercing through her like a sword.
I also like to headcanon, Instead of Aether being the soft boy and Lumine being sassy/cold like the fandom agreed on, They’re both similar in their own way, Obviously, Immortal people wouldn’t be nice forever, Eventually they’ll grow tired and bored of living, After seeing thousands of bloodshed, Humanity growing and disapearing in every world, Their friends and lovers eventually dying, And foolish mortals and Gods alike, They probably lost touch of humanity, With only little sanity left in them
I like seeing Aether being the sadistic/masochistic boy, Kinda like Childe, He’s bored of being strong, So having his powers stripped off and meeting stronger people made him delighted, Thrilled for battle, I also like to imagine him being impatient in battle, More fast, Mostly jumping in without a thought, He doesn’t believe in weak spots, “Everything will hurt if you’re strong enough.” Is what he thinks, So he’ll focus on dodging and defending Lumine, And is quick witted and fast, But rough and staggered, He wants his enemies to perish in the most fast yet painful way possible, No time to even tell their loved ones goodbye, Because by the time they realize it, They’re already dead.
Towards strangers/people he doesn’t trust, He’d be cruel and cold, But towards friends, He’s more gentle albeit teasingly(is that a word?)
While Lumine is just 100% sadistic, Personalitywise she’s more distant and aloof, But awkward too, She’s patient and caring once you get too now her but kind of a tsundere( not the violent ones, Just isn’t honest with her feelings) And is kind of naive, In battle, She’s more slow, Would rather observe her opponents attack patterns, Taking the time to remember, Then look for open spots/weak spots, But would often forget to dodge/defend her self, Leaving Aether no other choice but to defend her and himself, Just like Elizabeth Midford from black butler/Kuroshitsuji, The ways she fight’s is elegant, Like a ballerina, She wants to kill her opponents in the most slow and painful way possible, Giving them some hope left, Believing they’ll survive, Then finish them off.
The way she acts towards strangers/people she doesn’t trust is the same as Aether, But acts as if she trusts them to catch them off guard if they prove to be a threat, Her friends probably met her through Aether since she thinks friends and love is a waste of time, But really, She’s just afraid of leaving them and being forgotten, Or them dying.(While Aether is more afraid of forgetting them or killing them.) So the rare chances she has friends, She’s more awkward and shy, But is slightly more expressive and confortable after a while.
I personally like the villain type who is kinda like a cheshire cat, Teasing, Two faced, Yet deep down, They know it isn’t right, But they have no other choice but to do it, And near the end, They end up being a pawn for the final boss, Aether kinda gives off those vibes, + I feel like Lumine suits the hero role more since her aesthetic, And Abyss Prince Aether sounds more cool/evil then Abyss Princess Lumine.
Also, If you look at their official arts, Aether’s brows are slightly furrowed, Kinda like he’s frustrated or angry, And his eyes seem sharp, Plus he looks like he’s ready to fight or demanding someone step back, While Lumine’s expression seems more neutral/bubbily, So I kinda just based of my headcanons by the way they fight, Sound, Look and expressions.
These are all just headcanons and opinions, You don’t have to think the same, As long as you aren’t pushing your own opinion/headcanons on to other people, Calling other opinions/headcanons “wrong” and spreading false information and telling others that yours are canon.
I am personally tired of seeing sassy/cold Lumine and soft boy Aether, Theres no way Aether can be soft after years of living and seeing blood and war in every world they’ve lived in, But I also don’t think Lumine can be aloof and cold to everyone including her friends and only love her brother(not romantically.) But those are just personal opinions and I won’t attack you for liking those type of headcanons.
I chose aether as a traveller, and I just finished this quest yesterday, seeing aether so hurt at meeting lumine for the first time but knowing that she was with the abyss, ngl I cried lol

I’m very late, but I believe that they’re both good villains, it just honestly depends on personal preference!
With Aether as the protagonist and Lumine as the antagonist, the story feels more dark, cold, and scary. Lumine’s quite intimidating, and, as you’ve probably seen many people say, colder. She seems to think that the world has wronged her, and now she’s furious at it. She also seems more angry at the fact that Dain and Aether teamed up. Additionally, she seems to be the stronger one of the two- her attacks automatically have more power, and the animations suggest that she’s incredibly strong, and a lot of what she does is almost effortless.
With Lumine as the protagonist and Aether as the antagonist, the story feels a lot more tragic. Aether seems like he’s broken. He seems like he’s disappointed in the world, rather than angry at it, like he’s been through bad things that broke him. It’s almost like he just wants to be with his sister, but he knows he has to do what he’s doing. He seems more concerned that Dain and Lumine teamed up. He’s better at movement and climbing than his sister. His attacks seem to take a bit more effort, and he’s just a shade less powerful.
I’ve noticed that there’s a slight difference in their expressions and animations during cutscenes; how they hold themself, slight changes in their faces, between the two.
Mihoyo does mainly portray Aether as the protagonist and Lumine as the antagonist in their manga/official artwork, but honestly, it’s just up to preference for who you choose to play as.
While I love both dynamics, I play Aether as the protagonist because I simply prefer the character and model.
He also just gives me main character vibes- again, personal preference!

I chose Aether, and i love Lumine as the Abyss sibling. Ruthlessness and intimidation suits her well, though you can still tell she cares for her brother like he does for her. You can tell she's devoted to her part, whilst Aether seems reluctant.

Lumine seems to fit the role of the evil abyss twin better because she looks and seems more cold, but to me it’s disturbing to see Aether, someone so wholesome and gentle, turn cold and evil. I may be biased since I chose Lumine, but seeing them side by side that’s what I got from here
I had this dream yesterday when we reached the end of the game. It was a final battle (idk what we were fighting against) an Lumine transformed into the unknown god and Aether transformed into fricking Xiangling. Hella weird dream ik 🤷🏻♀️

Im a freakin adult! My kid got me into this game. She sat next to me during this. She knew what was gonna happen. She sat there smiling at me. And he showed up and I was like 'yay! Brother' and then 'ohw no, brother'.. and ofcourse I cried, I cry over everything. And kid was all ' I knew you would cry'. And after a bit I was mad. Like, he could just have told us the full story and save us the journey. We were prepared to leave this world behind in a flash for him. We would have believed wgatever he said, no questions asked.. but nooooo let us risk our life over and over just to come to a conclusion he already reached!
Its probably just me, but I feel like Aethers voice overall feels more suited for the main character than Lumine's and Lumines voice seems perfect for the main villainess. Both did amazing jobs, but I think Lumine as evil was more fitting than of Aether as evil. Just my opinion.
Based on these two points, it's concluded to be a matter of preference.
Lumine's story with Aether is just tragic,and idk why many people like tragic,moody stories more so if you like that,Aether could the main villian.
However,Aether's story with Lumine as the villian is dark and unsettling,it all gives the feeling when you are the less skilled yet gentler one and your more exceptional sibling decides to join the dark forces by her own will and you are a so helpless on contemplating how to bring her back because you know you can't win no matter what. Damn..

Aether’s too gentle to be a good villain in my opinion, Lumine was designed perfectly for that description. I had a feeling the traveler in the OG story was meant to be Aether, but I had no idea until Thoma referred to traveler as ‘he’, so if that doesn’t prove Lumine was made for the role of abyss princess idk what will.

After this chapter, with story from Dain, i don't feel like calling it "evil". We only standing and understanding it from one side of perspective where on the "evil" side, the traveler's sibling has more info and experience of the journey of what we still not yet discover.. And also, i wanna hear the story from the archon side as well..

Abby’s prince Aether sounds more emotional and more realistic in my opinion it’s sounds like he still cares for his sister and want to be reunited soon (after her journey’s end) but as abby’s princess Lumine she just sounds cold and like only think abt her goal doesn’t really cares abt Aether and meanwhile Aether looks like a kind and sweet person and lumine is the more serious one it would be nice to see the way Aether change into this begin more serious and lumine is just surprised the way he changed after looking for him a long time it would make it’s making it more interesting in my opinion

I chose Aether as a traveler, aside from his cool braids caught my eyes, is because I like the idea of brother rescuing sister, but now I started to regret. I mean, Aether makes a great protagonist, close to my imagination and role model but after knowing that the "Evil one" is actually the one knows more, been through more I kinda want to change my decision tho.
I don't care if Aether's the canon protag, Lumine will always be the real protag for me :)

I came back to check but the voice dialogue really does sugest that the traveler would immideatly leave this world if the siblign said yes. The traveller doesn't care about this world like the abyss sibling. The traveller has just started making some friends and yeah they would help them if they were in danger, but if the abyss sibling would call they'd come.
The Inazuma voice lines just mark this. Traveller si getting colder and is angry at their siblign for refusing to leave.
I have a feelign that we will see a lot more of this frustration if the traveller doesn't find soemthing that wants to make them stay. I'm excited, I really want a more emotional traveller.
Being a brother myself, I kinda understand Aether's hesitation like "I really miss you and want to protect you more but this is what I gotta do first to protect you in a better way" vibe in his villain arc, I feel good that I chose him to be the Abyss twin because istg if my sister gets that cold, imma be hurt :3

Seeing this I kind of wish I chose Aether as traveller. I really like how Lumine’s cold voice is befitting for her to be the villain/“Abyss twin”. Although a lot of people clearly enjoy the contradiction between Aether’s less aggressive, softer spoken voice and his role as the Abyss twin, personally, I like to match his soft tone with the curious and helping nature of Traveller.
Regardless, the difference between the voice acting is so interesting to analyze

I noticed a VERY nice detail to this scene/s. It's their tone of voices. Evil/Abyss Lumine sounds confident and rather... Cold? But is rather "afraid" of Aether. Like her tone of voice in this part 1:38 she sounded worried and "corrected" herself when she said, and I quote, "Don't try to stop me" and then the correction, with the "Don't" part is like saying "I MEAN-"
Meanwhile, Evil/Abyss Aether sounds more... Commanding and Imposing. He was rather angry at Lumine than being angry at Dain that Lumine "teamed" up with him. While Evil/Abyss Lumine sounded like she is angry at Dain and worried towards Aether. Also, as I mentioned on Evil/Abyss Lumine, Aether did NOT corrected himself when he said "Don't try to stop me", like he had already experienced Lumine trying to stop him from "destroying" a world, but Aether continuing as is. 5:27 is the timestamp.
So with this, I concluded that Aether most likely "destroyed" more than one world when they were "travelling".

1, Aether seems to be the more happy person of the duo and seeing him with this tired and “I have no other choice” demeanor really hits my feels more (maybe I’m a masochist 😂);
2, I can feel that Lumine is more desperate when it comes to wanting to bring him home, losing him and seeing him be this colder person.
In conclusion, it just feels sadder and more emotional and more nuanced, and I like it XD.
