Got front crooks on , ledges, round bars, it took a solid year of front crooks to get em consistently im trying to move onto small hubbas/down rails maybe one day ill front k a hand rail🙏
so i tried this right now and i got a few fs crooks, the key is really the way that you aproach the ledge like joe said to then get the perfect pinch and the front foot feels like its grabing the nose so its easy to slide more. just have to put them on lock now. thank you joe👊🏾👊🏾
It looks like you were still more on the outside of the ledge. I’d try getting more on top of it. I know in another video he talks about standing over the front truck with your head directly over the truck when grinding. Either way, good job dude.
Good tip! It’s the same for back crooks as well. I get best pinch on back crook at about a 20 degree angle. Same angle of the crook yer pinching. I’m working on this truck right now as well and surprisingly getting some progress because of your tips. Thanks man!
when i would hold fs k's for a long distance...i usually hand my front foot facing in a lil bit more than normal...so when popped and slid, the front foot rotates ever so slightly and stays in that pocket on the nose. also, the body shift before the pop is important....basically shifting all ur upper weight to the back yet somehow distributing it with that back foot toe being slightly raised..similar to a fs noseslide
Ya like @Driftless Skater said here, the real secret is leaning into the ledge. Keep your front shoulder straight above your toe-side wheel, head is down and on the other side of the rail. Every time I see someone learning this they lean back trying to be ready for the land... but really that works against you because you don't have the leverage to pop out. Leaning in gives you the stance to get out of it cleanly. Good vids tho, keeep rooolllinnnnn
Loosen your front truck (maybe 1/2 a turn, based on what I'm seeing in this video) for easier pinch, so that your bushing rebounding doesn't toss you of. Jamie Foy runs LOOSE trucks.
This is such a good point unfortunately my bushing broke and these replacements are waay too big for the truck so I’m stuck with tight trucks but got some stock thunder bushings coming soon
I agree. I feel having looser trucks or softer bushings allows your hangar to mould around the ledge, thereby allowing you to manipulate tricks better. I felt like with tighter trucks or harder bushings I'd keep slipping/tipping off the ledge since my truck was fixed in a rigid position.
was trying these today but i kept having trouble getting out. also i tried hanging my front toes off but it felt weird asf like i couldn’t ollie right so i was trying with toes more on the board but i’ll give it a try again tmrw hopefully i get em cuz they’re such a buttery trick
yea i tried them on a smaller ledge with my front toes hanging off before popping and it’s way easier. got them somewhat consistent now. one tip from learning them was if ur boards flipping coming out ur not keeping ur weight on ur front toes
Any tips on how to get out of front crooks? I’ve been sliding them locked in and pinched for like 2 weeks now and for the life of me I can’t get out of them
Cool to see you progress. Nice video. I would like to see another in-depth beginner back crook video. I like your other back crook videos but to me it looks like you feel a lot more comfortable with back crooks these days. Another question I have: I am terrible at back 50-50s. I can only do them on very low curbs. But I am but quite decent with back nose slides and slappy back crooks. Do you think I should try to perfect back 50-50s before learning to back crook? Thanks. Keep up the good work
Not at all ! back 5050 can be way harder because you have to be on top of the ledge. You have to pop less on a back crook. It's good that you learned slappy crook. You will be more confortable withe the grinding process. Good luck
Loosen those trucks up a little, Joe! Great job though! Jamie rides his med/loose and I imagine it helps the pinch. I noticed your trucks were not pinching the wheel against the bottom of the board and I believe that's why you kept slipping off. Loosen the front truck up and see if that helps. ✌️ Keep it up!
Nice one! But you seemed frustrated at the end before you nailed it. I dont get why, good tries and did grind on them, just didnt land them. Still good😄
Ive gotten smoked on this trick too many times with terrible shinners as a result. Feels like key is to be on top of the ledge. Scared shitless on every attempt ☹️
Every skater is different. Pops different, flicks different, moves different, Ollie's different. This does not mean that if you put your foot in the exact foot position that Foy does, that you will front crook perfectly. I'm not throwing hate, I like the channel actually. But these "skater secret hacks" videos are a cheap grab for views. Again, no hate. but I'm assuming they are doing well on the channel for views, but these vids are a lil redundant Again, not hating lol, really. I would just like to see an origin video that doesnt have a super popular skaters name in the title for clicks.
That's not a cheat code. It's common sense. On any grind you want to look at your feet and figure out how to center them on the rail. That way you have the most control over your balance, for example, on a Smith grind you're locked out on your inside wheel or outside wheel so you would adjust your foot accordingly so that your foot centers just above that wheel.
I respect this guy as a very good skater but I just can't stand him. He reminds me of kids in high school that have to put on this persona about themselves that mimic everyone eles because it's "the cool thing to do" I can't stand his personality or the way he talks. Like he obviously only listens to rap music. Not a bad thing, just when people act like that there is no individuality or originality in their persona, they act like everyone eles to fit in. And it's very annoying to me.
@@localjoe ya, haha I don't know why but he does from interviews and such that I've seen. Don't get me wrong, the guy is an amazing skater, probably the best rail skater out there (sorry Nyjah) but that's just the vibe I get from him is all.
@@localjoe I've also heard that from many people. I'm sure he is a nice guy, from the red bull day in the life segment he seemed like a real good cool dude but he just has that, I dunno, "I gotta look and act a certain way" about him. Maybe that's just who he is? But from experience, kids that act like that eventually grow out of it because they will realize one day it's immature. But alot of skaters are like that I guess. Most of them always pull up their shirt and put it in their mouth after a run, like almost all of them. Why? Because one started doing it then everyone else followed suite. Key word, followed. Then you got Micky Papa. Never once have I seen him pull up his shirt after a run in competition like everyone eles does, and that there is someone who doesn't follow everyone eles and just does their own thing. I may be rambling at this point but maybe that may make some sence, maybe not. Haha.
Aight time to go test out that health insurance!
Don’t hate just appreciate

Literally was just telling the homie I’ve never really gotten the hang of these. Perfect timing
Thanks bro! Just learned this and shouted this video out in my new video!
dude love how u broke it down great video! i tore my acl and haven't skated in over a year. this is a trick i will learn once my knee is better
stoopid good content with this video!! Been skating for 11 years and never looked at this trick like that

This is a big problem that I have when learning grinds. Getting into it is one thing, but being on top of it is a different story.
this is a clear path to dialing in front crooks. nice vid 💯
The scenery at that park is so sick.

Damn that was sick I can only do them sw for some reason and trying regular it goes to nosegrind every time

What great timing. Ive recently been battling fakie crooks. I gotta keep that heelflip foot placement in mind.

I barely have a nose but after this I really want to practice front crooks 🙌 I ride a old school deck
Thanks helped me allot 🙏
I like how you made a video, about the video foy made
Any tips on how to get out of front crooks? I’ve been sliding them locked in and pinched for like 2 weeks now and for the life of me I can’t get out of them
Make sure ther is zero pressure on your heel like try to life it up in the air as you pop out
Ayyy. Ivins skate park!
great video
Good job 👏
Yo do you know if there’s any places to camp out around that park? I’m from Vegas and I loved that park def wanna skate it all day

Step one be Jamie foy
ayee not clickbait definitely didnt disappoint
Is this Arizona?

Being scared is what's gonna keep you from success
3rd listen to foy explain it not some below average joe
it's can help
Need to nollie off the end. Can't just slide them.
The trucks / and shocks in shi..
Hi
Step 1 : you have the foy look
Just learn front noses first lol makes it easier
I think not tight bush
To ' nolly out
It also helps to have a lot of junk in the trunk like jamie
hooooooyah

Getting out is the hardest part grinding isn’t that hard
true
Go backwards

never realized how Jamie doesn’t even really do it that crooked. It’s sort of a nose grind.
You blind son
@@tampapredatortrackers3858 I’m not though. Check Ryan gallant if you want real crooked front crooks.
@@Jarrodpimental most of the time he does them it clearly shows mad pinch. Then again it is on a handrail.

First.. learn the nosegrind..2nd tweak the nosegrind into a fs crooked.. that's all it is..
Yo joe try ben degros front crook cheat code !!
Lol already did
