In this clip, Daylyt weighed in on Gucci Mane's comment about Eminem not being the king of rap. Daylyt seems to agree with the take and explained how Eminem is respected for his wordplay but is lacking in terms of content. Daylyt says Em's best album was Revival which ironically got poor reviews despite Eminem trying to "say something."Later, Daylyt explains why he believes hip-hop culture isn't truly Black culture.

Day knows way more about this subject than you think, you should delve into it more.
@@amanSpawn00 actually I know way more about the subject than you think. like the fact that the black man in America isn't African and that's not our culture either. You just like Day believe your enemy. The Africans know that we're not the same that's why to this very day they don't claim us. We claim them only bkuz our enemies who has gone through extreme lengths to keep us ignorant of who we truly are told us that we're African. They know knowledge is power especially knowledge of self. If you ever go to Africa it's not written or documented nor taught that their ancestors were taken by force into slavery brought to the America's and sold into bondage. That's because the blacks that was brought over here weren't African they were Hebrews who subsequently were already in bondage to the Africans aka Canaanites and sold to the European. So Daylite don't have a clue. As for the English language that also came from black people the fathers of civilization. The 1st rulers of England were black just do your history but like everything else they white washed that history to just like they teach that they DISCOVERED America.

That was deep. Just think about that 👨🦯
I get what he saying but at the same time we've been the trendsetters that everyone wants to dress like. We may not own the brands but we made them popular. Think about the brands that have tanked after we stopped wearing it. Think about the brands that we turned around just by us wearing it. Think about Champion and Fila, we literally breathed breath back into those dying brands and now their streetwear essentials.
@@themaddogofcrenshaw7367 The point is the record label people who aren't black are the ones who set the trends by putting those clothings/brands onto the rappers.
It's really not deep though. It just sounds deep. Italian culinary culture is full of stuff that was not invented in Italy but introduced by the moors. The list goes on. Doesnt make Pasta any less Italian. Flamenco is Spanish Gypsy music but they didnt invent the guitar did they? Push Black ownership by all means but what he's sayiing if you apply it to other things doesnt really stand up at all. And he referred to African clothing as "our culture". But it's only a small part of your culture, your genetics. Really Black Americans are Americans first. I hope one day you can reconcile the two cultures. It's not easy.
I dont agree. It is ours because we took ingredients that already existed to make something totally new and unique. Its like the guy who invented the hamburger not claiming it as his own because he didnt slaughter the cow or grow the wheat for the bread.
Actually it makes no sense. I respect him, but that’s really one of the dumbest things I’ve heard

that ain't shit compared to what black people went through!! black people can relate to what their community is going through for hundred of years, not about personal struggle!! problems exist in every family. Hip HOP is a cultural movement, was a political movement, that's why the old heads of hip hop can't relate to em. his subjects are no different from the ones of country music, metal... That includes marginalized people across the globe!! You don’t have to be black to contribute to hip-hop! Alright so let me address those who say that eminem has no content:
1- Every artist sporadically in their careers has talked nonsense (lean, drugs, just rhyming, pimps and so forth)
Including all members of N.W.A, Mobb Deep, Jay-z and mostly the new generation.
Still doesn't discredit those talented ones.
2- it's subject to interpretation what content people wanna fuck with or relate to. Cuz Lord Jamar said he fucks with the "relatable Drake" then mentions that he talks Lean. So what content do people refer to?
3- on Walk On Water, eminem did not pick a hard beat as he slightly cut it off so people can hear the poetic true story of his. Still people trashed it.
4- countless songs of Eminem where he dilates on a very deep storytelling shit that anyone can relate to. I'll give a slew of examples:
"Stan"
"Sing For The Moment"
"Renegade"
"Guts Over Fear"
"Headlights"
"Legacy"
"Mockingbird"
"When I Am Gone"
"Marshal Mathers"
"The Way I Am"
"White America"
"Rock Bottom"
"Beautiful"
"Beautiful Pain"
"Not Afraid"
"Like Toy Soldiers"
"Space Bound"
"The Way You Lie"
"Walk On Water"
"Best Friend"
"Careful What You Wish For"
"Lose Yourself"
"Till I Collapse"
"Stay Wide Wake"
"Cleaning Out My Closet"
The list goes on folks. You just hating miserably. Being negative and unreasonably critic doesn't make you different nor unique. Stop trashing anything nor anyone. Listen to what u value and if em is invaluable then stop listening to him. Word.

Eminem show, recovery, and revival, and a good portion of mmlp2 all mature Em albums, but people refuse to acknowledge them as content based albums. They rather complain that all Eminem talks about is rape and killing his wife, nothing else, when he hasn't said anything like that since Marshall mathers lp in 2000, and when he did say that, on the next line he foreshadow what the response would be for having such wild lyrics. One of its main purpose were to trigger you and for you to stop taking his fictional lyrics so serious. It's meant to make you uncomfortable, that's the only way he's going to show you how silly it is to accuse him of such crazy things, when it's just shit he "just makes up, to make you mad (criminal)."

@@tellmesomething2412 I see you around hating Em, so I'm not even going to really get in it with you. But about the pop thing, I'll say, Em never hated pop, he just didn't want to be categorized as pop, and the only pop he hated was the more bubble gum cheesy pop artist like n sync, backstreet boys, Britney spears, and stuff like that. He felt like it was unrealistically happy And found it fake And corny.. And even if he did hate pop, what that got to do with my comment, and how does that take away from the content on revival..
your rebuttal would probably be to use a song like remind me or offended or any one of the tongue in cheek songs on there against my argument and be like, "what content!? The song where he's like heavy duty like diarrhea!?!", as if those couple of songs define the underlying theme of the album and negates all the real stuff he touched on in that album, regardless of whether the music is good or not, because I admit some of the music isn't appealing to me on revival, however I appreciate he spoke on things that was a bit risky for him because his fanbase consist of mostly whites and ignorant whites at that...

“There’s a lot of people who don’t relate to eminem” yes there’s tons but you can say that about ANY rapper.

@Yah's child yes he did. What’s your point?
That's the point... Of course a lot of people cannot relate to all rappers... That's what daylyt said - it just depends on the listener, it's strictly subjective. That is my opinion.
@Lich King rap is wayyyy more that word play which is just rhyming random words with no substance
17 Crew There is a core base of hip hops fans though. The general/casual hip hop fans don’t give a shit about anything lyrical or content based (which is why mumble rappers can sell albums), they just like a nice beat and a rapper that kinda sounds ok. The smaller core fan base that actually pays attention to lyricism and content though, of that selection of fans I would absolutely say there are rappers who’s content is more universally relatable amongst them and basically Daylyt is saying Em isn’t up there with other influential rappers for them (right or wrong), he is for lyrical skill but not relatable content.

He wasn’t around during the early 90’s Black power rap. Cats were rocking nothing but the Red Black and green.
funk rock jazz that’s US.
Intelligent kid but needs more historical perspective.
True. Hes right and wrong. The hip hop as we see it today is totally American and marketed to white people as a stereotype or minstrel of "blacks". In the 90s there was more diversity and some did have a bit of knowledge of self but under it all most weren't about that motherland life.
being 2 years younger than him and agreeing with you, i bet he understands that, i think he's trying to stress the point of Hip Hop, Rap, Funk and Jazz all being music run by white people. Hip Hop and Rap have been moulded to reward those wearing white designer clothing, rapping about guns, drugs, consuming products, being as tough and hard as possible, being stuuupid. i know that it's black culture that created and for good and different reasons than i am trying to stress, great art from those topics listed but other powers cut out the other half of it and distort the context for the opposite reason he is. if the poppin' black rappers were still boasting the black power, African or Jamaican or w.e influenced dialect and rhythms, like most other music started with, i don't think he would be saying what he is. Blues, Rock, Jazz, Funk were all created by black culture. how come you only here in the mainstream about Hip Hop and Rap being from black culture specifically? i think black people should be owning and saying all mainstream music they are responsible for like you are saying. not just owning and gravitating towards gang bangin', lean sippin', jewellery robbin', spray paintin', stuupid Rap. i'd guess a lot of "hard" black artists that make it rappin' about hard stuff are intelligent and know what you're trying to preach. but that doesn't make them money or reward them. it does the opposite. why Jay doesn't rap like Talib. they want you to only claim Hip Hop and Rap. even when you should, saying to do the opposite is more controversial, thus more thought provoking in a better way, i feel. i think he always trollin' in the best way but i'm just a white kid and definitely not an expert on black culture or history so i apologise if i've got it completely twisted.
Yoti He’s is mixing and matching definitions.
The culture is ours. But we do not “own” it.
What he feels is that a culture isn’t yours unless you own it completely. So no matter what you create it’s not yours unless you are the true gate keeper of that thing. That’s a good point, but it’s not the definition of culture.
From there his and to a degree your argument branches out into where the effects of not fully owning the culture get you. They aren’t the same thing. It’s 100% our culture. But we gave away the keys some time ago. The Social economic effects of white owned companies pushing songs that could possibly influence the black community in a negative way vs James browns singing in black and I’m proud. Is another discussion/debate.
The wearing and free publicity of white owned companies is also part of that culture. But so was rocawear Sean Jean wu-wear going to see dapper Dan. Ect ect ect.
That’s the historical perspective that was missing. There was a time when when who was hot wasn’t dictated by what the radio played but who had the rawest songs on a mix tape. And that was all US.
@@azraelidris1080 i think i get you but the lines seem blurred to me still. like for example replace "culture" with "house" for arguments sake. 'The "house" is ours but we do not "own" it'.. It's 100% our "house" but we gave away the keys some time ago.' that confuses me. even if you rent the "house" out for decades, most people in the community are going to assume the people living there own the "house".
i just assumed he's talking about Hip Hop and Rap in it's current state. no big rappers are wearing red, black and green with gold ankhs or Sean Jean or Fubu. i just think he's trying to make a point, not gloss over and ignore history. why when Vlad brought up what you're saying he just started trollin' about not seeing people on the pyramids wearing jeans. i don't think he doesn't agree with Vlad or you i just think he was trying to stress a bigger view or point.
i could very well be wrong, just sayin'. feels to me like only the negative aspects get promoted, rewarded and stereotyped in Hip Hop and Rap now and most of it is the negative use of white design. even though i can understand that negative use as positive expression, they don't present it as such, they do the opposite it seems so i feel it's worth pointing out if there is a deeper level maybe he's trying to drive home.
i kinda feel when what you're saying was happening in Hip Hip wasn't really being promoted and recognised and influencing the masses. when it started to, it was something different. and now claiming that kinda feels like a trick to me if you get that? like they want black people now to claim and be credited for Rap music and the gangsta part of it. not the intellectual enlightened black power part. even though it's all yours, you get me? black people created like all the music i listen to. should not just be credited for Gangsta Rap music.

@@burdman1333, then that would be false as well eventhough that's not what he meant. He's speaking of the material things that modern day rappers speak of which aren't black owned or made but we make popular. If you're speaking of white people who were also rapping, they came later as hip hop grew in popularity. Sure you can mention Rick Rubin but how many white people aside from him were around during hip hops inception... not many if any.
Cary Weight Hip Hop is white owned and white financed. The whole shit isn’t ours anymore. It’s been remade(in America) then taken once it met their needs. The original source of all black music is OURS, the branch offs aren’t. Everything is about making sure a nigga don’t do better than you. With little spurts of real real talk here and there.
Like there are several black owned brands that were worn back then like FUBU, Karl kani. That we were wearing. And if it wasn't ours we had some one like dapper dan to make it ours. What made it ours was that no one wore it like us or did anything like us. The tree that man built the house out of didn't belong to him...doesn't mean the house isn't his.
Allen Hillard an act, which was adapted to a new culture. Which is why I feel Daylyt said this isn’t our culture. We must go back to our roots to re-claim our culture.
The tree that made the house was originally all ours. Then cheaper replacements were used in exchange. And we allowed someone to lease the house we built to us but never really penning our own home we built.
We slave cuz we still slaves, mental ones now.
