I am not defending what Elizabeth did, but people do crazy things when they are engulfed in terrible grief. Eddie, on the other hand, made a promise to Debbie to forsake all others and to be faithful to her. Debbie likely forgave Elizabeth because both of them realized the man was worth all that energy.
The golden era of Hollywood feuds aren't that different than today's drama. The only difference is that it was another time, the actors were elegant and the older stories will be told for decades to come.
According to Cheryl Crane (daughter of Lana Turner), when Christina Crawford's book "Mommie Dearest" came out, she went to her mother to ask if she knew about Joan's abusive behavior. Lana said everyone in Hollywood knew about it, but didn't say anything to protect their careers. I believe this is why Bette feuded with Joan and made work on the set of "Baby Jane" difficult to do - as a form of punishment. Bette wasn't the easier person to work with, but she could stand up for others when she needed to.
@@DiscodancezYou could be right. I think both BD, and Christina had unresolved issues, but disagree with their manner of public disclosure. I am aware, of course, that was their choice-- Davis responded to BD. Crawford never had the opportunity.
Their feud was started more than a decade before either had any children? NOTHING to do with children!!!? Bette was in love with Franchot Tone and Joan Crawford married him. Joan was jealous of Davis talent and stage training and Bette was jealous of Crawford beauty. Crawford tried many times in the early years to appease Davis but was rebuffed every chance Davis got. I have many, many books on them. On the Warners lot when Joan came over from MGM ,,,she sent Joan flowers and Bette walked out of her trailer and smashed them leaving them where Joan could see them from her trailer. Am currently reading The Divine Feud again. It is not biased either way as opposed to some books.
Too good i wasn't born when all of these feuds took place. Thanks, Jen, and a happy sunday afternoon to you as well. Take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia.
Kudos to Brando/Sinatra and Crawford/Davis because they still managed to make movie classics, Guys And Dolls and Whatever Happened To Baby Jane respectively, despite the feuds between them.
Debbie Reynolds is a lot better than most of us.. grieving or not I don’t care for you to sleep with your best friends husband is unforgivable to me. I would’ve never talked to Elizabeth again.
I would have forgiven Elizabeth. I believe in forgiveness. It's healthy for the forgiving person. I would be able to speak to her, but not calling each other chatting on the phone. I would be able to speak professionally, and if we were at the same event. I know that you're untrustworthy. You slept with my husband while we were best friends. Forgiveness does not mean we resume the old relationship.
I can understand your feelings. But Debbie had many betrayals by the men her life. First, Eddie, who promised to be faithful. Then, hubby number 2. He stole all of her money and left her broke. Then hubby number 3. At one point, she stated she was afraid that he was trying to kill her. He also cheated on her. So, perhaps Debbie was just....tired. Tired of it all.
Maybe Ginger Rogers and Katherine Hepburn's fueding as the queens of RKO. Hepburn's boyfriend asked Roger's to marry him... on the way to Roger's wedding. Hepburn kicked Rogers and poured water down on her in her new fur coat from a story above. Hepburn said the derisive quote "She gave him (Astaire) sex, he gave her class.." when she knew Rogers was actually a good actress. Rogers star was rising as Hepburn hit a terrible down period. They starred in one movie together and battled on the screen matching their actual lives. Rogers won best actress in a year where Hepburn very arguably should have won. But they were on odd pair.. years later playing tennis together all the time. Credit to Hepburn for never giving up, Rogers was a pro-level tennis player, appeared in the US Open at 37 years old. I can just see them, always competitors, battling on the court. So, kinda enemies, but without the hate.

I'm always interested in the Old Hollywood scene. There's drama in any era. 😊❤
I remember hearing about Olivia de havilland and joan Fontaine fued sadly sometimes family can be your enemy
I’m surprised that Debbie resume her friendship with Elizabeth Taylor. She is truly classy or civil I should say
I would have forgiven Elizabeth, but we wouldn't have been friends. Elizabeth isn't trustworthy.

@@queenboudicca31You mean he wasn't?
Well, you know what they say, “Forgive and forget.”
That's what they say.. but we can forgive, but forget is impossible, we're human.. we have minds like elephants, we don't forget.@@baliyae

Tell me about it.
Technology made it more public today.
Of course Faye Dunaway wasn’t Roman Polanski‘s cup of tea; she was legal age.
Bingo

Except of course, (per her daughter's book) BD. Hyman.
But Bette Davis daughter also accused her of abuse?
@@davidbrennan5973long time since I read it, but it was pretty horrible. Not as horrible as Christinas'.

Olivia de Havilland passed away in 2020 at 104. I wish that was mentioned.

Yep I respect them for that I don't think I could do that
Is it a feud when you're my best friend, and you sleep with my husband? Were you ever my friend? It's low-life behavior, to say the least.
Yeah Elizabeth Taylor didn’t deserve forgiveness in my opinion
@@davidbrennan5973
I would have forgiven her, but we wouldn't be buddies. You cannot be trusted.
Do Dear Abby and Ann Landers count? The real life identical twin sisters and iconic advice columnists had a famous professional and personal feud.
Eventually, they reconciled their relationship.

Debbie was very Christian (religious) you are supposed to forgive. The Bible says so.
In Mexico, the comic duo: Marco Antonio Campos (Viruta) and Gaspar Henaine (Capulina) ended their friendship as did Abbott and Costello.
Joan and Olivia reminds me of myself and my evil older sister because are still sibling rivals
Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield would've been a good one!
Elizabeth Taylor wasn't "newly single" her husband was killed in a plane crash
And I’m team both Marlon Brando and Bette Davis
Betty and Joan, surely, is the most known!
Abbott and Costello had a deep love for each other, but money and ego got in the way.

What about Walt Disney and Pamela Lyndon Trevers?
David Niven and Rex Harrison ... Niven a WWII hero always believed Harrison shirked his duty. There you go ....
Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins was probably the bigger feud. An opinion.
no not Abbott and Costello lol
Alcohol use disorder? Is that a fancy way of saying alcoholic?
😮😮
Damn only say good Joan Crawford is dead “good” crazy 😂😂😂
Brando was the better actor. Sinatra the bigger ego.
The way they narrated no. 1 is wrong.
📺🎶🎞🧙🏻♂
Funny that Polanski’s sexual abuse conviction isn’t mentioned
jeez, what a wooden narrator ; is this AI or human?
What a big crybaby dean Martin was lol oh must have been so hard😢
