Finally sold in 2018 according to the link in the description above. It was on the market a long time. I hope whoever bought it kept the railroad stuff and the seller didn't just give up trying to find the "right" buyer and ended up selling it to someone who just wanted the land for development.
At least one of the 3' gauge K-36's was sold, there's a video of it running down in New Zealand. Not sure about the rest. The guy (Tom Miller) clearly had a lot of money, wonder why he decided to part with all of this.
I just checked Google Maps, the railroad remains, which is great. Hopefully there was a clause in the sale requiring future owners to maintain the line and the cars, which could of been one of the reasons it sat on the market for some time. I'm shocked a local winery didn't snatch it up as there are quite a few in that area. Or turning it into a garden railroad retreat. But likely zooned residential, but as close as it is to wineries, perhaps not.
Visited numerous times and they are very gracious host. I have operated my locomotives and his and will always cherish the memories. Thanks Tom and Sue
Like the "NATIONAL TRUST" organisation in the U.K. This property should be bought by not just one person but by a large group of people or by the state or a national railroad museum. This major attraction has to survive for all generations in the future, as part of the U.S.A historical and national heritage. May its existence continue.
THIS IS AMAZING, I LOVE IT. YOU SURE DID WORK HARD DOING THIS. WOW...........MODEL TRAINS IS MY HOBBY, AND THIS IS THE BEST. THANK YOU FOR SHARING A PART OF YOUR LIFE........
Home sold for $1,795,000 in 2018. Off market, but Zillow estimate today is $738.560. That's quite a drop in value. Is Oregon real estate that bad today?
Like Lawrence Welk would say "Wonderful, Wonderful". I am currently building a 16" railroad around my 1 1/2 acre fish pond. I only have some 2000 feet of track. Love your layout. I use 12 pound steel track . What is your track width? How did you bend your rail? tom
I feel bad for him. After spending all that money it didnt scratch the itch. You gotta build stuff like that yourself to truly love it. Toys wont do it as an adult unless you build them yourself. I can empathise with him. On a smaller scale. Pun intented!
That question makes me shake my head. It can be answered by calling the real estate agent in Sherwood, Oregon -- the location that appears in the video title. A moron like you shouldn't even have computer access, let alone the privilege of buying a place like that. : / I saw a video about the guy from New Zealand who bought the Big Boy that Tom built, and the video was uploaded about ten months ago, as of 7-16-2017. My guess is that, noting this upload date of November 6th, 2013 -- so you don't have to ask -- this place may still be on the market if he and his wife didn't rethink the sale and keep the property. Sorry to be rude, but I'm really tired of people everywhere who are so damned inattentive. I hope you find or build a railroad like this. Truly cool stuff for the train-loving kid in all railfans. ; ]
From what I understand most if not all of the locomotives and rolling stock were sold separately to other people in the hobby. not sure about the railroad.
All of this can be yours for the low, low price of only seven hundred and fifty thousand million billion trillion quadrillion dollars! Hurry down today!
He must have made some bad financial decisions to have to get rid of it because you don't go to that length to make your property like that just to say ok I'm done I'm out of here. The too old to maintain excuse is not flying with me because when you have that kind of money you can pay someone to maintain it unless you don't have the finances anymore which is what I think.
I know people who know Tom and I've heard he's just lost interest. Money wasnt really the issue. His family made a fortune in the manufacturing industry.
@@scubarider1 Both thumbs up Robert. Some people can be so mean, nasty and judgemental about something they know absolutely nothing about. He has every right in the world to do back flips off that beautiful deck he sits on and enjoys, screaming to the world, "Look at what my wife and Ive done here, please come and enjoy it people. I love how someone like you can so smartly question the activity of an old man but you eat the governments bullshit about terrorists and plagues and blacks deprivation all day long without a hiccup.
Owner gets kinda cocky about his stuff at 0:45. Not saying his railroad and equipment isn't really nice, but there's a lot of guys out there with beautiful scratch built locomotives and cars just as nice as his and Train Mountain tops his railroad any day of the week.
@@1977meteor are you stupid... The asking price for that entire operation I believe has been cut in half or more.... If it sold at all,. That says it all... It's like if you have a restaurant or a bar and charge me 100.00 for a meal or 30 bucks for a beer , am I supposed to thumbs up you
The state should buy it and make it a museum for the public. The original owner can be the curator!

My company had the honor of painting his property, such a cool experience. He gave me a tour of his replicas and the work shop. It’s awesome

I'm Tom's son in law...he's selling it, cause at his age, it just takes too much to maintain....sad. Amazing place, what an investment in life.

If there is any space for a runway and a hanger to fly small aircraft out from, it would be my dream home.
Wow, I would love to build a small version of that. I have 105 acres
This is on 20 acres. You could do more with 105. Why dream small when you can dream big

Hi,
Curious to know if all of the trains and equipment are included in the sale, or are they being sold separately?
Wonderful! Osooyoos, BC has a spectacular indoor train display, check it out, I did.
Osoyoos

Wait a minute, this guy built all this from scratch, and now he's selling it?! The hell?
why is it for sale?
Good googly moogly. What did this guy do for a living?
From what I understand most if not all of the locomotives and rolling stock were sold separately to other people in the hobby. not sure about the railroad.
Yeah, there's a video of at least one K-36 that's running in New Zealand now.

@@chooch1995 I'd say it's a lot more than that... That's a pretty big outlay of cash, even if you do a lot of the work yourself.
How much?
I agree if that is correct for all of that its a good price.
I buy i add diesel
Did he say S scale layout? Place is beautiful but pales compared to his wife.
the amount of money he put into building/renovating his property, is mind blowing... makes me wonder what he did for his wife ;)

How anyone can give a negative comment about this video is beyond me.
It is called ENVY. People despise what they cannot have.
