Yea that would be cool... But I don't see that happening it's almost been a year of them working on these projects I just don't see it..👀... But you never know .. thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Before they were shut down, Sonar had an artist, producer and professional version. Bandlab’s FAQ suggested that Sonar would hit multiple price points, so I believe it will be the same as when Gibson owned it. Artist for $99, Producer for $199, and Professional for $399. Most current DAWs have a similar price structure. Bitwig being the latest to do it. I have a sneaking suspicion that Cakewalk Next will be subscription based.
It's the end of another era of Cakewalk. I've been using it since just before Sonar 1 over 20 years ago. It's been through a lot, from when it was "Twelve Tone Systems" to being sold to Roland, then to Gibson, and finally to Bandlab. I'm actually looking forward to the paid version as it means they'll update it with even more features and probably some extras like effect & instrument VSTs. I will not be checking out the pre-release version through Bandlab membership, however. Thanks!
Question I am currently using cakewalk. They are coming out with 2 new products, sonar and next, I am only interest in what I have now which is the cakewalk currently use. What changes now can I keep what I have? What's the difference between sonar and external. Thanks
Ive spent a fortune on cakewalk products since the eralist version 1994 up until the final paid version. But Im hooked on Studio One now, so it would have to be amazingly good to tempt me back, and the most I would pay is around £200 GBP
Bandlab had nothing to do with the Cakewalk that released Sonar/Pro Audio. It was GIBSON who used to own the old company and it was they that did the dirty deed and ripped people off who had just bought into the lifetime update licence. Cakewalk by Bandlab has been a godsend for us who started using ProAudio back in the 90's. The way it has been ignored by so many hardware developers and musicians is amazing. Because it's free, many assume it can't be any good. I'll be very interested to see what the new paid version of Sonar looks like. I hope they keep the price around 200€, in which case I'll buy it. Thanks for yet another great presentation X.
An intro price would be nice, but I'll use the free version until it's had enuff.... but as a price, cubase pro often goes on sale for under £250 so it's gonna have to be competitive... 👍🏼
Yeah I guess Cuba's is a DAW if not CW I may likely be using but here is what is so bad about. Will cake as sonar become a great DAW but just like cubase is great why do I want to pay $300 to learn all over again how to record at the lightning fast workflow I have in CWBL? If they change up too much on Donor though it may be statistically more this or that if they move away from the central theme of old school multi track tape machine and mixing console played out studio recording then they will have missed in my opinion the most important factor of the CWBL story and the number one reason it did not vanish even while other DAW have been charging and changing for a decade they seem to have nothing CW don't have. Please just let that guide them on sonar
Hey XEL, I too been a Cakewalk user since its days as SONAR, I had the Platinum and the versions before that. I paid several hundred at the time. Not sure what I would pay, especially if I don’t see any mayor, mayor improvements. If they are just recycling what SONAR originally had, I won’t pay a cent, since it feels like I am pay for the DAW twice or for a license which I already had. But to be fair, I would pay, whatever price another equivalent DAW is for. For example, Tracktion Waveform is a free, but to get the PRO, 12.5 ver, it’s about $149. About the new update, SONAR/Cakewalk already had a Product Center, last time I check it was active, but this was some time ago. Peace!!!!!
Thats whats up.. 150 is not a bad price but I agree it will have to be more than what Cakewalk by Bandlab is to get sales from people. Thanks for the comment

Look for Sonar to be between $500-750 at a guess. Too many people with existing CW projects will have little choice but to buy in If it goes subscriptions, it will be in the competitive range with Logic PT and others I’m guessing hard though ✌️
@@XELOhh1 yes you’re right and I must correct myself. I was thinking and typing in Australian currency! lol 😂 In US $ that’s 350-550 I still it’s going to be slightly more than the more obscure or non professional DAW’s. Once upon a time Sonar was in league with the more renowned pro Daw users but they just never got over that hump. Now, I think it matters less about being seen as a professional alternative. Some of us must have and know PT Logic for our commercial work, but DAW at home is personal preference from here on out I think. Depending on the work one does, it’s best to have more than a few DAW options on hand. Sonar returning definitely adds potential for lateral and outlier clientele increase.
