I did the NEBDR this past spring on my Honda CT 125, nice and light, didn't tip over any, but I didn't need to fear that either. I wanted to try it on my KLR650 but going alone I was too afraid of not being able to pick it up. I have back and neck injuries from an accident. I did every section of the expert parts. The little bike surprised me. I went slow and stopped to fish along the way. I had others speed by me on big bikes ( I call them BDRacers ) It was the best time of my life, alone going at my own pace, enjoying nature. I hope you enjoyed your trip as much!!
Going that slow just makes it so much harder. Unfortunately sometimes you've just gotta stay on it and let the bike bounce around. NEBDR is no joke. The one advantage with the NEBDR is the tough sections are short.
Yo love the video. Failure is part of this game. I’ve failed more times than I can count. Keep learning and growing. Even the failures are better than a slow death from boredom.
I stopped right where you stopped b/c I could lean my bike where you did and take a rest. I've learned more since. There are tricks such as airing down the tires, first gear and higher revs while going up. Use both the front and rear brakes on the way down. I've no idea where I got the idea that one only uses the rear brake going down for fear of the front end sliding out. Lack of experience I suppose. Oh, and you chose a weekday, I think, judging by the lack of people hiking it. Wait until you have little old ladies with canes coming down when you have to go up and they don't get out of the way for you either. I'm laughing now. I wasn't then. Thanks for taking me back to those memories. And it was only two years ago. ...Imagine meeting a side by side coming up as you're going down.
On the rocky section (11:04 on) i appears that you are sitting down and attempting this section. Practice riding (WITH BOOTS) while standing, and steering with your feet and legs. You'd a had so much more control this way, and it woulda been more enjoyable. Keep riding!! Nice videos!!! Praise the LORD!!

Brave soul..
1. MX boots (keeps your feet from fold in half)
2. Stand up
3. Keep speed up a little... momentum is your friend..
New rider/new KLR 650 owner. This ride is on the list, looks great out there. Thank you for posting.
