This is absolutely incorrect crimping, DO NOT use this method on anything that is a critical support. While this may hold, you should crimp on opposing axis, loading the ferrule into the jaws sideways.
wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong my friend.... you swaged the ferrule 90 degrees off from it's supposed swaging axis and I didn't see a thimble being used there... My fellow UA-camrs, if you're going to do it incorrectly like this example, you could get yourself in some trouble when that ferrule let's go....
gmctech is pointing out a wrong and dangerous method in this video. Give him credit for saving someone's life instead of badmouthing him. To do it CORRECTLY watch a professional video like this one ua-cam.com/video/m9Vzugj90BQ/v-deo.html
REMOVE THIS VIDEO!!! This is why we need to see the dislike button - to see if videos are good (youtube took this away this way they can get more views...forcing everyone to watch crappy videos) I came here to see which way to place ferrule in jaw since this was the first time I was going to do this.. Good thing I read the comments and referred to another video. I would have done it wrong if I listened to this guy. Thanks guys in the comments.
This is just plain irresponsible to leave this video up. This is not how to crimp correctly, and will be much weaker than it should be. This is horrible.
Sadly, this is incorrect and could be _VERY DANGEROUS_ if used for applications that require anywhere near the full strength of the cable for safety! (Although I do appreciate the enthusiasm of the person doing the vid.) There are two major things wrong: 1) It should be swaged (crimped) in the round sections of the jaws, _NOT_ the dividers between the rounds slots. The end result should be completely round swages in the aluminum sleeve (with a small raised section left between each swage). 2) The sleeve should be crimped 90 degrees from the angle shown . i.e., imagine you are compressing the two cables together, NOT separating them. *) Also note that, if maximum strength is desired when using vinyl-coated wire rope, strip off the coating before swaging. I wouldn't bother to comment since so many others have already have about the problems with this vid but it's still up and people are still responding positively, so.... I hope no one gets/got hurt!!!
As pointed out in numerous other comments, this ignoramus did virtually everything wrong (with the possible exception of using the wire cable cutter). Unless he wants to take the chance of getting sued if somebody gets hurt following his directions, i would strongly advise that he deletes this video. There are other videos out there that do it correctly.
Nothing about this was correct. Even calling the sleeve (ferrule) "the crimp"... Not exposing the rope? Swaged the wrong side. Didn't even get a clean cut on the wire rope! Hopefully no one is using this info for a critical application...
Where's the thimble? You used the crimper in the wrong axis. You're endangering people with this "educational video". Please remove this and replace with correct and safe instructions. Look into entertainment rigging books for better explainations

Normally I wouldn't report a video, but that isn't how you crimp a cable. If your using the cable to secure something heavy his crimp will fail and can kill someone. You do not crimp it using the teeth! The crimp goes around the whole thing!.
Are you fricken KIDDING ME!!? Is he trolling in this video!??! Or does he actually think this is correct!?!? He doesn't even know how to use the tool!!! Unbelievable that someone would make a video like this doing it wrong! Wow..
No!!! This is completely the wrong way to crimp a load cable. This could kill someone! Only electrical cables get crimped this way. Please delete this video and learn to crimp cables properly!
i know the part about taking plastic off might be reasonable but that may never slip out ! the crimping goes right through the plastic covering…the young fella though did not video his effort to finish the work that the cutter did…cause i know one has to wiggle the still uncut cable back and forth to finish the cut ha ha…and what is a thimble in this operation…you guys mention that….my mother used a thimble to do sewing back in the day….how about you guys making videos….then posting links in this video..if you think your smart…..i use those u bolts a lot doin this stuff but i find they dont grip in good enough so i am gonna get those crimps or swages…
Can you be taken to court and sued by anyone that uses your dangerous and incorrect procedure for Swaging Ferrules on Wire Rope? Who taught you to swage line that way? Is this a joke it's not funny. Your a danger to the public.

+1
1. not cutting back cable coating before crimping
2. crimping off axis
3. someones going to get hurt following these instructions

what do u guys mean by “ off axis “
@@w9x7cv3vg6 Crimp at 90 degrees to what this guy did. You compress the two widest parts of the swage.
Went here to say that. He does this completely wrong!

What s the correct way then?
@@saralisesaindon2214 crimp in the vertical not on the flat part of the sleeve.
OMG, Please do not swage like this kid! Thanks for calling this out
Aren't those fitting called a "swage" rather than a "crimp"?
Fantastic, this is exactly what I was looking for as I’m trying a DIY project for shade sails. Thank you!

Hi I'm Ben, this is my first day on the job.
Appreciate you so much for doing this video. Thank you👍
0:12 "...happens to be a coated cable... " you should at least remove the coating before you crimp it wrong.

What is the size of that cable sir
Son, you're swaging incorrectly!
I have even messaged the company on facebook and told them how dangerous this video is.. They just ignored the message.. Sigh!.
Where can I buy the tool? Is it good for all size cables?
Ebay
