I contracted as an animator with both CN & [as] from 2004 - 2008. Don't be so hard on yourself. This video was a decent deep-dive in the public pool. You dropped a some good info, and provided a lot of launch points for nostalgic conversation with my kid. As for the official premiere being on Labor Day weekend, I have no proof, but I suspect the date was timed to coincide with Dragon*Con, Atlanta's biggest, bacchanalian Comic Con. Dragon*Con employs the [adult swim] bumper style on DCTV to this day. I believe the original [as] team worked from the basement of the "Mansion", the original building that Ted Turner bought when he was starting out. Then later moved across the highway, taking over an old carpet factory, which is represented in the iconic Williams St logo. Somewhere around here, I have an internal magazine that documents Lazzo's struggle to get the [as] block on the air, and another describing how Sealab 2021 came to be. Feel free to tag me if you want to get the snorkel out and go deeper (insert lewd dad joke here).
I remember when I was little I would sleep over at my Aunt's and because she had Dish, I could watch Robot Chicken or ATHF on CN West if I woke up early enough. Then when my parents switched to DirecTV when I was in middle school, I would always try to get downstairs right at 630 so I could catch the last episode of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood for the night on CN West, and hopefully not have my mom see me watching it. Yeah, it's cool now to watch whatever shows I want when I want as a grownup in the streaming & DVR world, but there's just something special about having to sneak-watch those weird shows on a non-HD channel and never really knowing what you're really watching

I graduated high school in 1996, and I Love Adult Swim!
Mission Hill is an incredible show, wicked funny. It was amazing for me to watch this channels development.
It was so sad that Mission Hill never got the love it did and was canceled way to early.
@MERCHIODOS So true! They should have kept around longer.
I bought the series on DVD. My kids are 25, 26, and 27, and they love it!
The 4am infomercials traumatized me as a 5 year old boy.
Watching this video has given me more peace then I ever knew I'd know.
Feel free to tag me if you want to get the snorkel out and go deeper (insert lewd dad joke here).
wow im actually watching ur vid as SOON as it comes out
You forgot heavy metal and heavy metal 200 haha.
I didnt know people outside of South Africa refer to cable tv as dish....
@@sedi2066 one of our satellite TV providers in the US is called Dish Network. Most people just call them Dish. They're one of the worst TV companies we have.
waking up at 4am to the dawn is your enemy was a horrifically traumatic yet nostalgic memory
The sea lab 2021 opening song will live rent free forever in my head lol
