I like this because it's what I wanted the ferrum forge gent and stinger to be. A little bigger, no choil, and a little bit of swell at the back of the handle.
I mean we can all complain about price but how many 20CV/M390 blades are cheaper? There’s a reason for the cost. It’s far harder to grind and tears up your machinery.
As well as the titanium liners/hardware. This isn’t a screaming deal, but it’s definitely premium compared to most of its competitors. Most comparison pieces are running stainless steel.
I was able to pick the marbled cf version up this week for $120 shipped since it’s been discontinued. Beautiful knife. Zero voids in the one I got. I know it’s a 2 year old review but in 2023 what they were asking for it was a steal, let alone on sale for $120….which oddly is the price he thought it should have retailed for originally. It’s a quality knife. Now go look at Benchmades prices in 2023…lol
I come for the knife reviews. I stay for the deep philosophical insights and eloquently stated poetic analogies. - “…like a goose honking aggressively into the vista… . . . HONK!”
Well I feel it’s a good price point honestly.i mean come on is this had the shirogorov name on it boom would be 600$ easy so I don’t get you point one bit but that’s your opinion I honestly think it’s a very good price for such a beautiful knife with great materials
This Saakshi reminds me of a Ferrum Forge Gent. Your comments about the Civiwi are on point they echo my reluctance to buy new Civivis and We’s. This video just became a Public Service Message! 👍🏻
Atlantic Knife has these now for $126 for the CF variants and $116 for Jade G10 and wood variants. Thinking about grabbing one, tearing it down for cleaning and Skiffing it.
Your video really explained the difference in civivi and WE. I don't have any high end knives so thanks for really being exact on how you inform people. I appreciate it, peace biggin.
for me, so far the best value for money WE knife is the full sized ''Banter'. It definitely felt more premium than any Civivi I'd felt, but was only around £100 --compared to any normal Civivi which came in at around £65 over here (the UK). Well worth the extra money in my opinion. I think part of the problem they are having is in fully distinguishing the two brands. I feel that if I am going to pay the extra money for a WE then it needs to be noticeably a better knife all around. Anyway, thanks for another entertaining video, and I'll see you tomorrow (I highly doubt you'll see me from the other side of the pond!!)
You could substitute "Camry" every time you say "Civivi" or "Ciwiwi" and have a bang-on review of that car's mass appeal. It's good, reliable, inoffensive, gets the job done. But nothing distinguishes it. ("Ciwiwi" kills me by the way - brilliant!) That said, I like my Elementum and I'd keep it over this knife since it has a great hollow-ground blade, and presents a MUCH superior value proposition.
I agree about your clip complaint. I don't know why they do that. But what I can't understand is why no one seems to complain about the hotspot, that imo is just as bad if not worse, that is created at the loop over point of a deep carry clip. And for this reason I move to ban loop over pocket clips!!
Definitely has a Ferrum Forge vibe about it. It’s nice, but I wish they made more knives in the style of their Civivi line. I would love to see more premium materials in more simplistic and clean designs.
I think these types of knives are what we’ll see Civivi evolve into over the next few years with Sencut taking the budget spot for them. This definitely feels like they’re testing the waters. That being said, I have the wood version of this and think it’s worth the price at $145 from WMK if you like the design. Not absolutely amazing, but there’s only a handful of good alternatives with similar materials (20CV, titanium screws/clip/liner) that are cheaper than this. The rest are going to be G10 and stainless steel. If WE would’ve reduced the prices of all the variants by $25-30, this would’ve likely been a hit.
@@luismsaguiarI know this comment is a year old, but check out kubey’s titanium offerings, as well as the maxace black mirror and meerkat (can be hard to find stock but they’re out there I just got a black mirror) are the best examples off the top of my head
Crazy so many, even some of the $200+ models, are the same structure design. Just slightly different handle and blade shapes with 2 barrel spacers and internal lanyard pin at the bottom.
Think the price is very fair considering the materials. Have this one for a few months and really like it. Getting a lot more here for the $ then the latest Spyderco sprint…
@@sencerr226 I just bought a WE Press Check instead of the Saakshi & It was a mistake. The Press Check is really uncomfortable & not designed properly.
I personally think WE knives are priced reasonable for the level of quality they are putting out. This one is priced substantially less than most of their other knives. With marbled cf, titanium liners with lock bar insert, and 20cv steel, there aren't many knives out there that can comete price wise using the same materials. I would definitely switch the pocket clip with a $15 milled ti Civivi clip though and make it that much better. Great review as always! 👍
To be fair, you picked like the one Civivi in FRN. It looks like WE is moving 9Cr18Mov and D2 down to their Sencut brand and revamping Civivi as "mid-tier". BTW, I don't love the clip but it's okay.
MC, will we see a Dylan Mallery Phorus Review? Its been shipped out to buyers already and keen to know your thoughts on it. (Like this message so MC can see it)
I just got my Phorus today. It is an exceptionally well done knife - beautiful, great action and razor sharp. Carbon fiber is excellent. Love the blade shape and cutting geometry. The price was $175 plus shipping and for me it was well worth it especially for a limited production knife.
This looks like a slightly larger version of the Civivi Elementum with upgraded materials. Personal I think open barrel nuts look cheap, I’d prefer a spacer.
Pocket clip IS actually slightly recessed. You can see it if you remove the clip. And you’re right- it’s just a good knife. I was disappointed because I was hoping for something great.
Some might call it simple or boring, but tbh, it’s an intentionally minimalist knife with clean lines. That said, I much prefer my WE Kitefin. The blade design is really attractive - much more so in person. I have it in the matte titanium frame and it’s a real sleeper.
What camera and lens do you use for these reviews? I couldn’t believe when it focused on the tip of the blade lol. I’m guessing some kind of Sony? Great review!
The Saakshi looks good, but i agree it should be priced lower. All I see is an upgraded/WE version of the Elementum. N thats fine, but thats what I see
WE were more interesting with their early knives-edgy lines, proprietary hardwares but most importantly different and ingenious ways of construction on each one of them. Be it titanium block as the blade stop(instead of a steel pin)on the 620, pseudo-integral handle on the valiant, and they even tried a large tactical karambit. Those were the best WE knives IMHO
Saved me $185. After some close ups, it looks like the way they did the civivi elementum with the shadowboxed liners. Not a huge fan of how that knife felt.
For some reason artisan and we just don’t excite me at all. I think it’s the fact that I can totally get my fill via cjrb and civivi. For what they do, I truly don’t mind sticking with the budget stuff. Spyderco and a few others, I’ll step it up a notch and spring for a z-wear shaman or a cruwear adamas…but for the nicer made in China brands, the budget end totally satisfies my curiosity.
I want this knife but not for $160+. I own and love 5 CIVIVIs because they're high quality for the money paid, but only own 1 WE knife, the Kitefin, and that's because I got it for $145. You're right, WE needs to lower their prices because they're just asking too much on many of their models.
I suppose you can optionally remove the clip and there’s no recess, just a couple of T6 sized holes. Who cares about T6 sized holes? (T8 holes would upset me)
Knife pricing, a complicated subject. The Saakshi compared to some knives does seem overpriced, but against others seems like a decent value. For example, if compared to knives like the FF Stinger, the WE Kitefin and the US made Buck Sprint Pro, yes seems overpriced. Another example, the QSP made Finch Devils Finger at $129 compared to other QSP knives like the Penguin, Parrot and Hawk seems very overpriced as well. If my memory serves me well (sometimes it doesn’t) most knife reviewers had no problem with the Devils Finger pricing. It is a good knife no doubt, IMO the Saakshi is better in every way and feels like at least a $30 upgrade. Very complicated subject, especially with US made knives coming in under this price point. It is getting harder and harder to tell whether we are overpaying or not. Thanks MC for giving me some food for thought.
It looks good, don't get me wrong, but this is the stinger's blade minus the choil with the gent's handle. It's great that they're using better materials, but this is the laziest design I've ever seen from We/Civivi
Im not a big carbon fiber fan, but what tf is the big deal about "voids"???? I never even heard the term until like 6 or 7 months ago. Idk just seems like a pretty ridiculous thing to get so butt hurt over lol🤷♂️. Ok.... slightly miffed bc I'm outta whiskey rant over.......

I was just about to comment how it reminded Me of the Ferrum Forge Stinger
Call me crazy, but I love this knife. I own a bunch of Civivi knives, that said, this knife is definitely an upgrade.
That looks a lot like a ferrum forge stinger, minus the finger choil, add better scales and material.
I like mine quite a bit. I went with the wood scales. Her simplicity has an elegance to it. Looks great, functions great.
I mean we can all complain about price but how many 20CV/M390 blades are cheaper? There’s a reason for the cost. It’s far harder to grind and tears up your machinery.

20CV, CF, titanium liners, clip and hardware.
I don't have any issues with the price either.
Just wandering what alternative brand has that materials for that price. I like the knife and can't find a contender.
"Like a goose honking, aggressively, into the vista!" LOL Yeah, this was my key takeaway from this video. Geese honking at vistas. haha

The one with the blue titanium looks dope, but yeah its overpriced.
Looks like the FF Stinger with better materials. So what though it’s not and it’s nice, it just looks very similar!. Potato pototo!
voids cost more, graphite fibre starts off as a thick gooey substance and WE let chickens walk over all the scales to create random voids.
