Isn't this entire album a gem? When you go from Pablo Honey to this, you can really see how they matured. I fugging love this album. In Rainbows is still my number 1. This one, though, is so lush.
At the end of the song daydreaming, Tom sings - half of my life/half of my love(these are superimposed on each other). These are lines about his first wife, whom they divorced in 2015(They lived together for 23 years), and in 2016 she died of cancer.
You can really tell both the lead singer and the lead guitarist were shifting towards composing for films around the time this album was being written. Every song, but especially the first three, feel like they were made for television/movies.
Radiohead have this ability to match any emotion you maybe feeling at anytime. its been great to follow your journey, don't let it end. You have the smile with Thom York and Johnny Greenwood and many other personal songs by them band members individually including Phil Selway the drummer.
You are one of the many lucky ones. Radiohead's music will provide for the rest of your life and it won't get old. It will age like a fine wine. Without the hangover.
@@crumbtember no way. They're just slow burners. I even think that " A light for attracting attention" is better than "In Rainbows". This whole album is so well written.
@@rfa8699 it's a presumptious to think people don't like it merely because it isn't radiohead. I don't like them because I find the songs are sub par, I think they are experimenting with a style of music creation that isn't as labor intensive as Radiohead usually is. But the musicianship just isn't there for me, aside from the drums which are by far the best part of the smile imo. I would vastly prefer and album of Tom skinner just drumming to the smile lol. I just have a particular distaste for much the smile honestly. The songs I like are: speech bubbles, open the floodgates, skrting, teleharmonic, and there's one from cutouts I like. I think the production is terrible on cutouts and most of wall of eyes, eyes and mouth and bending hectic have so much wasted potential.
For me this album was so different from the rest of their music I had to listen to it 2 times front to back in order to get it. Many of the songs connected thousands of times better the second listen. And I can’t get enough of them 😂
Another 10/10 album, which for me would be their best IF they hadn't mucked around with True Love Waits (as amazing as it is, I personally preferred the older incarnations). Glass Eye reminds me of a future I've not yet experienced. Daydreaming may be their most beautiful track.
Decks Dark gotta be one of the most bad-ass smooth songs they've made, love that track
thats exactly what ive been saying
Agreed 💯
Radiohead have a knack for creating beautiful piano motifs

Identikit is my JAM, my BREAD & BUTTER 🔥
Glass Eyes makes me tear up. I think it's about anxiety and uncertainty, or at least that's how it gets to me
I really slept on this song when I first listened to the album. Now it's one of my favs.
So basically it's like every other radiohead song then 😂😂 nah I'm jp, eh kinda.
Don't be fooled folks, I did sleep on it too but then it crushed me
@@neoawoke As a Kid A enjoyer, yes

You gotta check out the smile too. Thom and Jonny’s other band. they released two albums last year, and one a couple years ago!
I wish I could get into them, I like a handful of their songs but it's mostly mediocre imo.

@sonsofliberty9630 I genuinely dont understand how people enjoy the smile aside from a few songs, but to each their own.
@ I personally love them, especially their album wall of eyes, they’re definitely different from Radiohead which I think is what disappoints people

Colin's bass playing is so fucking good!
Just in time to watch on my lunch break 😎
Ful stop is so sick
Daydreaming has an amazing music video too. If you’re ever looking for more content, you should also react to some of their music videos
He should do a music video reaction video I think, would be entertaining to watch for sure
Directed by PTA !!
