I love how deep and emotional this song is. Whenever I'm in just a weird mood about my life or life in general, I can play this song and ball my eyes out. It's so cathartic.
the first time I heard OLTA in 2007 I hated it. now in 2020, 13 years later, I love this album, and the lighthouse is one of my favorite OLTA songs. it has this incredible power to touch the soul deeply. closing your eyes and listening to this song is an unparalleled experience. thank you interpol for providing us with such beautiful art. and also for playing this song live.
This place is set to break It's just as safe for me outside tonight And I want that I face the storm's appetite From the lighthouse And I want that I embrace the storm and the night Whole What do the waves have to say, now? What do the waves have to say, now now Slow now I let the waves have their way Now now Slow I let the waves have their day And I want that Here I've been living unloosened from sin Upward and outward Begin, begin Here I've been loosened, unliving within Inwardly urgent I'm sinking again The lighthouse
There is something very Pink Floyd about this song; I never thought that until I saw this video. This is honestly one of my favorite songs of theirs, ever, and truly a test of Paul's range as a singer. I can understand why they rarely play it live.
Was a little disappointed in this record at the time but my god, revisit it a few years later and songs like Rest My Chemistry and of course The Lighthouse evoke perpetual whole-body goosebumps.
Damn 6 comments? I remember hearing this song summer of 2012 while on campus at FIT. Such a terrible summer because of some dumb girl i was dating. This song will always be a reminder of how she tried to ruin my life after that summer.

I saw Interpol in Seattle, Los Angeles and twice in SLC. They never played The lighthouse live...until SLC in 2014. I cried when they played it.

Exactly! Same thoughts. My all time fav interpol song, so blue and beautiful and that outro is such a Pink Floyd.

Pr0x1mo I've been trying not to ruin music because of people who tried to ruin me with music. :\ But it's not too easy...

Another songs that Carlos write, and never played live again until now.. sad
@@wewewewewewewewewe carlos worked on every song in OLTA and all his bass and other instrumental samples were used in the 4th album as well
