It's kinda fun watching ya go 'round the ring, in any car pretty much. Ever thought of doing a little series or the sort of testing various tracktoys/ringtools? Not for lap times but letting folks know the variety of fun from small and agile to big and fast and everything between. from old to new, FWD, AWD and RWD, stock or modified, rental car or someone's project they might let ya run. (probably would take too much time really, but it's fun to think about at least. :P )
This mini Caterham series has produced the best car vids I have seen on UA-cam. Brilliant, brilliant fun. I think it would be sensible for Caterham to lend you the car for the rest of the year. This beats their own marketing efforts inside out...
Adding a passenger really has a huge effect on the performance. It drastically reduces the power to weight in such a light car. Great drive once again.
That corner around 35sec with the armco always gets me. You have to turn in a bit earlier than feels sensible, but it feels so good to just miss it. Love the Caterhams. Cyborg cars, they just feel like an extension of you.
I got a ride in a Caterham (not as crazy as a 485S; it was running a 90s spec ~170 HP Opel/Vauxhall 2.0, pretty stock with a sporty cam) as a passenger to a guy who lives in Dusseldorf and probably has a couple thousand laps under his belt. It was a blast! The cars are little beasts; they're tiny, and loud, and stiff, and have basically no comfort, and when I drove it on the roads outside the track myself, good lord it had HEAVY inputs on EVERYTHING. The Karrussel is brutal in that thing I'll bet! Great camera view :)
Fantastic video dood. I only got 2 laps in on my first visit last year, but I'm planning on going back in about 3-4 weeks, and I've done a lot of work to the car since then as well. Nice to see I've got my line is good from watching this, but also, I like the camera position. I've been thinking of putting my GoPro on my helmet in the same position, as I usually have it on the B Pillar. It looks good on the B-Pillar, but this gives far more depth to the experience attached to your lid for sure. Love how the camera line drops when you're tipping your body fully into the corner, great stuff 😄😉👌🏼🤘🏼
Great vid, great driving. Bet the passenger crapped himself when the steering wheel bolt cover came off lol......eek is he gonna pass me the steering wheel next
Beautiful ride and soundtrack but make no mistake, that wicked Exige V6 is in a totally other league (it nearly vanished in the first section before getting held back)
Hahaha, car disintegrating around you at 1:31 xD That is SO British roadster. I love it! Especially how you nonchalantly passed it to your passenger as if it was a regular, normal occurence xD
I just saw this video for the first time, and let me tell you as a Caterham owner: this *is* a regular occurence. The steering wheel cover on the "S" version is held just by some weak velcro and regularly comes off. You get used to pushing against it every now and then to keep it tight. :-) Or get something else to fasten it properly. Just like the license plates, actually, after you lost them for the first time. *grin*
The only problem I have with Caterhams is pressing one pedal at a time. They are really close together. I only wear a size 8 (UK) but it's difficult to brake without pressing the accelerator too. Not bad for heel and toe but otherwise a pain.
What's that strange padding on the back of the steering wheel? Change your wing mirrors for ones fixed to the screen stay or body - you won't miss the shaking!
Your vids are always nice! I wanted to ask you something. What is the best car (so which did you enjoy most) you have driven around the Ring? And what car would you like to get a chance to take for a lap; anything goes :P
Scott Winterberg nope.. or yes if you consider that he let him overtake and stay behind him... TBH it’s in another world if you look at the first part where it literally vanished
do u know how many lives you put in danger driving like this? What if you hit someone or a child was crossing the road? Extremely selfish. If ur going to drive like that then go to the drag strip or something.
I don't know why,but I'm not very impressed by your driving, I think it's possible to à lot better with the beast you drive. you don't exploit the potential of this toy.
Loved the POV Cam which also showed objects fading in the rear view mirror!
Voiture crée par un musulman british wallah
The steering wheel cover falling off @ 1:31 had me in tears :D
Catheram build quality lol
sliwka621 depends on in whose shed it was built..
+fritzie p True, true. But the thing was held on by Velcro so I would count that as a design flaw.
Caterham only fit the pad to get the car through the IVA test. After that you can keep it or throw it. Either way it doesn't actually do anything.
I find it dangerous. What if it flew off blocked the pedal box?
Propper driving skills. Thumbs up man!
No wonder Caterhams are so light: they loose pieces while driving 😂
People say the Caterham7 is a '4 wheeled motorcycle' but I've never actually seen anyone wear leathers on one :'D
Pingman ha ha. Well passenger is guess at that speed I would wish to in a Mercedes 500
Difference being the caterham is possibly 500 horsepower per ton.
And an R1 or aprilla or Duc for example is 1200 horsepower per ton.
Roll cage on a bike? When you race a caterham on a track you have your arms strapped in so they don’t “come off” if you crash. True.
Could drag an elbow though
That was intense to watch. You could really feel the little Catherham work and bite its way. Steering wheel incident was funny too. Nice Video Dale!

VampyrMygg it's a great idea! I like ir
BridgeToGantry you guys should do something similar to these onetakes by the smokingtire but on the ring offcourse
I would let you run my big and slow "Ringtool" in exchange for a passenger lap in this Caterham. :)
Did you ever run the C1 from the Spa 24h round here?
I'd call that series "regular ringtool reviews" LOL
This mini Caterham series has produced the best car vids I have seen on UA-cam. Brilliant, brilliant fun.

Well that is pretty much how I ended up with one...so you do have a point. That and the enduring appeal of The Prisoner.
This vid never gets old. Fantastic driving.
Great driving, love the rev-matching!
Adding a passenger really has a huge effect on the performance. It drastically reduces the power to weight in such a light car. Great drive once again.
stubones still quick, probably more balanced
I never tire of any video that shows Porsche’s being overtaken.
That corner around 35sec with the armco always gets me. You have to turn in a bit earlier than feels sensible, but it feels so good to just miss it. Love the Caterhams. Cyborg cars, they just feel like an extension of you.
1:32 steering wheel enters sport mode 😂
Finally a new caterham-video
Thanks great video. I had a 310 hopefully now moving to a 420 :) need more power.

The passenger must be really scared to wear that suit hahahahaha
Shit, I would be!!
I think it was a motorcycle suit
Congrats. You found a way to make it even lighter... Lotus engineers - doh.
Haha, I love how you fold the doors up over the windscreen.
ah, germany, where you even have traffic jams on racetracks
Great video man, appreciated to watch
1:34 hold my beer, I mean a piece of my steering wheel, I got this
Its a bit anal, having to make minute changes to the cornerweights, by moving around fekking trim pieces during the lap. Shesh...
Nice engine note, sweet little shifter
At last, a UA-cam Caterham that has a front end that works!
Excellent lap, nice video ,cheers.
That was some serious driving. You made all the other vehicles look slow.
Thanks mate!
one can never be overly protected with safety gear 😀
Can you do a lap chasing thilo's Seat? Just to compare, two very different cars.
Really cool. Nice racing lines too.
The passenger obviously didnt have much faith: turning up in leathers 😂

I loved the way you smoked that white 911 GT3!
i can't believe how quick that exige is
SALUT MY FRIEND , SUPER CAR SUPER VIDEO ....
Pleeease more Caterham videos! I love them.
Beautiful ride and soundtrack but make no mistake, that wicked Exige V6 is in a totally other league (it nearly vanished in the first section before getting held back)
Motorcycle chap holding on for dear life haha
palakaman
He's in a auto racing suit and helmet

Brilliant cool hand Luke driver!
i love this lotus! and it have on the right side the steering wheel :)
Great video and driving!
Damn this guy has proper hands!
like the snap of wheel disguise 😉genius !
Loves himself
At first I thought the lotus was fast!
Superb driving, imo.
Excellent view
the wheel looked worst with the cover anyway haha
Geej Sim Racing same as the mx5 steering wheels
Looks better Momo
At 3:00 isn't that a familiar sight in the rear view
The only problem I have with Caterhams is pressing one pedal at a time. They are really close together. I only wear a size 8 (UK) but it's difficult to brake without pressing the accelerator too. Not bad for heel and toe but otherwise a pain.
take small, thin shoes
Ahahahhaha a motorcyclist passanger with full gears on a catheram (desintegrating on the run :D ) flat out at the ring.... priceless !
Where was the V6? He left you for dust
I subbed after the video about this car( actually driver I guess lol) crushing super car hopes and dreams. Fantastic stuff. Keep it coming.
Worlds fastest Cinder Block . Numbers on the Dash - 485 hp/tonne ?
Amazing hands, congrats! Stock suspension?
I enjoyed that one Dale
If only the caterham wasnt so goddamn expensive grrrr
sync232 they are cheap, especially second hand.
Weareallbeingwatched guess so
But still 1970s (60 s) building one car at a time brings up the cost
Certainly cheaper than that Lotus.
These videos are awesome, more coming this summer ?
That thing makes a glorious noise. What is that button you keep pushing, in the middle of the dash?
It is the hazards - you have to turn them on if there’s been a crash ahead and you don’t want to start a new one due to your slowing
That Lotus should have kicked your ass. It’s no the car .. it’s the driver.
+BridgeToGantry You sir, are a good driver!
How come you sometimes do a flick with the steering wheel in the corners like at 2:08? Thanks for the video.
He can feel the rear becoming loose through the wheel and uses counter-steering to get it back in line before it's too late.
What's that strange padding on the back of the steering wheel?
Change your wing mirrors for ones fixed to the screen stay or body - you won't miss the shaking!
Was the "two wheeler" impressed?
Your vids are always nice! I wanted to ask you something. What is the best car (so which did you enjoy most) you have driven around the Ring? And what car would you like to get a chance to take for a lap; anything goes :P
Why did the passenger go full Valentino Rossi?
Where did you learn to drive ??? I want to go there. :O
Very enjoyable.
Nice man 👏🏻
BridgeToGantry 620r Do you have any plans to change your car?
When will you make this your ringtaxi?
Nice one :)
I know that lotus cars are slow but caterhams are very fast
Its made me travel sick watching this video :D
Didn't have time to watch it all but did you nail the V6?
Yes he did.
Scott Winterberg nope.. or yes if you consider that he let him overtake and stay behind him... TBH it’s in another world if you look at the first part where it literally vanished
Would love to see you drive an s chassis car. silvias
how much power does this car have?
240 HP at 8.500 rpm
Where’s the Lotus
I wonder who enforces track etiquette ? Some people would rather block than be passed by a superior driver... dangerous to all on the track.
Yeah like what the hell were those hatches doing? They were sitting in the middle of the road going slow as heck.
What's that green button 😂
It's the indicator
Barred racing, how many sets of tires do you go trough on your personal cars every year?
Done 2.5 sets in 36000kms on my SEAT Leon Cupra that you can see in other uploads
BridgeToGantry thanks! That is rather impressive rate for a family estate car ^^
modern cars all looks like a whale in a pond... damn...
This is the Nurburgring, right? Are people even like allowed to race? I heard you still have to follow speed limits and road laws or something.
Bye bye 911s
do u know how many lives you put in danger driving like this? What if you hit someone or a child was crossing the road? Extremely selfish. If ur going to drive like that then go to the drag strip or something.
Not sure if serious?
@@BTGDale Just pulling ur leg my brother, nice driving.. looks like loads of fun!
UA-cam comments 🤣
H patter gear box in a caterham 👎
I don't know why,but I'm not very impressed by your driving, I think it's possible to à lot better with the beast you drive. you don't exploit the potential of this toy.
I like your sarcasm..
Fake MOMO wheel?
Why would you think that?
It comes new from the factory
so caterhams are as fucking fast as they are fucking ugly i guess lol
but i guessed that before
They're not ugly!! They're works of art!
