I keep coming back to the first track. It's the opening credits to the ultimate scifi TV show. "Salvage Union." On Netflix or something. Canceled after one season despite being a massive critical success. Beautiful work, Greg!
Thank you so much for the kind words Dave! I’m glad you like that one, I’m very happy how that came out in the end although there is still a few things I’d love to tweak haha. Thanks again!
The ost is pretty good. Brings me back to c&c days, but less metal and stuff, a bit more chill and adventurous. But, if I may ask, I couldn't find a tv series of it. Even though it's one season, that would bring a bit more world building to go with the ost while thinking out a campaign for and with the game. Mind to share where you found the tv series?
Wow, I came here thinking I would hear it for 5 minutes and then go on. But WOW. Not only Ive found an amazing TTRPG Im gonna introduce my friends to next weekend but also an amazing ost. So many emotions while keeping that reminicence to western music!! Would love to have a download of each track in lossless FLAC or smth like that.
Thanks for the nice comment! Yeah the game is amazing, such a cool concept for a TTRPG and leyline did such a good job developing it. The lossless flac's are up on bandcamp, sorry it's not the most ideal seeing as the streaming services compress it down to mp3. If you sub to Tidal service they are going lossless flac from the 10th of April for the few handful that sub to that 😂
I'm currently writing a screenplay for an SF series (about AI, robots and stuff) and YT put this OST in my feed... Spooky, but welcomed. Love this. Especially Wanderers that feel like the main theme (or even the opening credits music, like another commenter said) and Titans, which kicks ass. Kuddo.
Thanks man ha I'm glad you like. I spent forever trying to mix that one, used to have a completely different ending too. Glad you noticed the bass line too :D
This is so ... evocative. I can really see this becoming a thing, both the game and the aural aesthetic. Perhaps the best science fiction storytelling and music is being born in the smouldering, suicidal wreckage of the old IPs.
I was listening to this in the car today and my 18 year old son told me "This goes hard!". Translated, its amazing. The YT algorithm put the Salvage Union soundtrack in my feed yesterday and I've been listening to it on repeat ever since. Brilliant work Greg!
Gah, Wanderers is so good. Hits a beautiful tone that Frostpunk's OST hits (massive compliment). Desolate survivalist beauty. Make me cry with that violin! I DARE YOU!
@@GregIllidge Welcome man! Have you thought about breaking them up into individual tracks as well? Would love to use these on background loop during my battletech and fallout games I'm running.

Are you the composer for this?! Holy crap, I came across this while looking for new OSTs to listen to as I work as on my thesis. I've listened to over 15,000 OSTs starting from games, movies, random mobile apps, TTRPGs/TPRGs over the years since the 80s. This is a powerful OST. Questions. 1. What inspired you to write this? 2. How did you determine the "mood" and "genre" for each track? 3. Inspirations for this OST? 4. As always, favourite song from this OST?
Thanks man! Im glad you like it. Most of the inspiration came from the concept art that leyline press commissioned by some very talented artists. Also we tried to fit the genre to a lofi post apocalyptic western based music genre that you might find people playing and creating in the salvage union universe. I tried to come up with different mood tracks, like combat tracks or atmospheric tracks, town tracks stuff like that. Im a big Bear McCreary fan, and anything of Yoko Kanno's and Joe Hisaishi. And favourite game composer is Will Roget at the moment :) Funny enough my fav track is Bad Feeling, it was one of the first original tracks I wrote back at the start of the project in 2022, it was that one and Salvage pt. II that shaped the concept of the OST. Thanks for the question man and for listening!
@@GregIllidge It's a scif-fi novel set in a not so distant future about political intrigues right before a major conflict start. It has only been published in French so far, but now that I got a universe settled I keep developing other related projects
I know nothing about Salvage Union either, but this awesome soundtrack already gave me inspiration to finish dystopian sci-fi story that I've been stuck with for quite a long time. Thank you!
Ace!Is it a short story you’ve been working on? I would be so curious to read what you have come up with. Thanks man I’m glad it helped you feel inspired that’s really cool and thanks for telling me means a lot! Oh and salvage union is a table top role playing game made by leyline press, it’s set in a post apocalyptic future where the majority of technology is reassembled vehicle mechs that players can use to explore the wastelands
@@GregIllidge I love to write while listening to the music, and even wrote several stories directly inspired by some songs or artists. Though this is not the the exact case, I'll give the credits for inspiration when I'll upload the audio version of the story on my channel. I can give you the link if you don't mind me spamming here with the ads of my channel, or I can send it to you in some private way, if you prefer that. I must admit I'm not much into the tabletop games, but this one sounds stylish )
Thanks mate, glad you liked that one. A lot of the beats I used a drum sequencer called XO by XLN audio, you can add all your drum samples into it and then cycle through the samples till you find something that fits what your looking for. It has a pretty easy to use covert to .wav stem function to so you can produce the beat more with kit separation. Say if you want to side chain your kick and snare its makes it pretty easy workflow 😊
My comment on the Ixion Ost was a lie. I actually bought 4 games this years solely on the merits of their ost. Didn't expect one of those to be a tabletop lolol

You're welcome, I absolutely can't wait for more, if only this would come to PC one day, but I'm aware of how different ttrpgs are compared to games...
This album is awesome. I've been listening to the individual songs repeatedly for the last few weeks. Glad that there is now an album version. Is there a way to download the individual songs for offline listening? (Like is it for sale on Bandcamp or something similar?)

Truly amazing work! I have been wanting to change up my music for awhile now, but I couldn't put into words what I wanted. This, this is exactly what I wanted. Thank you!
This OST is criminally overlooked. It's *Excellent* and I have never really heard of a TTRPG which has its own official soundtrack!
Thank you so much for your kind words I'm glad you liked it. Yeah you don't really see many TTRPG ost
