Excellent cheap sauce of material to experiment with to make new designs with various thicknesses and types of handles ua-cam.com/video/UN3pZk3Og2E/v-deo.html
I have used Milliput epoxy putty, fairly cheap, to make handles for these sort of things.
Also got it on a couple of Praxis lockpicks.
You could also make long strips and spot weld or epoxy a pair in the middle, although going that far I would prefer buying good quality picks to start off with.
Why is your only other search: "fluffy handcuffs"? Should we be worried? 😀
@@Dr.Phillip don't worry, he's very picky....
It’s the searches I delegated you should be worried about :-)
Fluffy hand cuffs. Was that thrown in for a giggle 😂
Once read the 'Ebuy' feedback on those:
1st: Wouldn't lock.
2nd: Couldn't unlock.
3rd: Arrived late, I needed them Yesterday!
Um, sure ;-)
And his Search history showed all lock picking stuff
I got one of these kits for like 6 or 7 dollars at a store called Chinas bizzare, it wasnt the exact same kit, but almost identical, it just seems a little more finished on the edges. I like it pretty good it's good for carrying around incase of emergencies or just to take a stab at lock picking
He only wanted them to pick the lock
I love the absolute shock in your voice every time that they work. I think it's more the skill of the user more than the tools when it comes to this set though...
I wa as bit surprised they worked, tbh :-)
So I'm a total newbie to picking and a set like this came as a free gift with another full size cheap set. Within 20 minutes or using the larger set, I was also able to pick every lock in my household with the little credit card set as well, just a tad awkward with no handle to rest on. Not sure if I have a natural talent or every lock in my house is pathetic and I should look into adding more security to my exterior doors
@@dnixon0627 I picked my first lock with a hair pin. I bought a cheap, crappy set (AGT) and picked every easy lock in my house the day the set arrived. Nevertheless, it didn't need much to show the limits of that cheap set and now two better sets are incoming. I want to pick that nasty Abus 75/40.
@@kobold90 i know a german guy on youtube that calls the abus locks pure shit while picking them with a regular hook pin within 10 seconds, the lock where the key have these pin holes on the sides of the key, he even picked it with a toothpick, I sometimes even think the side pins are just fake, are you sure you want to buy it?
@@iloveddlc2007Meanwhile I got it open. I wouldn't call it "shit" but I'm a lock picking noob. However, most padlocks out there are shimmable and can get opened within 10 seconds. Lockpicking is fun but not usefull. There are faster ways.
This is a testament to your talents and not necessarily that of the lock picks. Nicely done. I don't think I could have done as good a job picking those locks.
Thanks friend :-)
Once you clean them up really really well and thin them down they are a small step up from paper clips. 😂 👍🤘🖖🍻
Well, a small step up, lol :-)
What did paper clips ever do to you to receive such an insult?? 😂 😂 😂
@@jamesthe-doctor8981 😂😂
Wow how did you know thats REALLY THE UPGRADE FROM PAPERCLIPS lol
Pro tip; ditch the crappy plastic case, drill a hole through the handles of the picks and attach them to each other with a nut & bolt.
When you're picking with one, the others act as a sort of handle.
Definite improvement for those with the larger mitts
Seen these credit card type sets and figured I'd get a set, mainly for giggles and for a couple of quid, why not.
After watching this video I've figured there is another bonus to this set - gives me some practice on finishing and modding picks 😁
Very true! :-)
Final words : unless you are lock noob and can open everything with your touch , invest in decent picks ! 👌
Yeah, don’t get these for real picking :-)
The best advice would be to make your own, if you invest anything then invest in the basic tools to make the picks.
@Justin Beaird presently i'm using Law Lock Tools and Sparrows.
@Justin Beaird don't know where are you from but apart from amazon you can trust various shops. Or buying directly from the makers....
I had a pleasant conversation with a man today who designs locks. I have a few padlocks that I've picked up over time. I've just looked at this set on Amazon and although this video is four years old, it's still very useful. Thanks
My suggestion for a beginner set is the sparrows "dark shift" it comes with every pick you should need as a beginner with American locks, plus the expansions are a nice option. They have an awesome look to them as well.
I did enjoy the cuffs, but I prefer them in black or hunter green (dark green)
Shop around L.O.L. www.lovecherry.es/gb/106-handcuffs
Lol :-)
The credit card lock pick set was indeed the very first set I owned. Actually it was an accident, I thought I had preferred a puck gun and the credit card set cane instead. I didn't read the small print. Within an hour of it arriving I wad asked of I could get a licked desk drawer open. I thought to myself "That was good timing". 20 seconds after squatting in front of the desk it was open. I knew I was hooked. Took me 5 minutes to get the drawer to relock.
Since then I ordered a second set (long story) and I received a third chucked in with some picking tools on another occasion. One of the three sets came as rough as yours but the other two just needed a tickle with sandpaper.
Ditch the case and put them in your pocket, you just never know when they may be useful. I have opened lots of locks with them.
Just to add... why not try to order a decent set using the credit card cover. 🤣
That’s a great idea! Hope it works :-)
As a Detroit factory worker I can tell you thats NOT laser cut. I've worked with 6 axis laser machines they cut fairly smooth. I also worked in a stamping facility. Those were stamped which is why you see the marks on the edges. That just means the die cutting it was wearing out.
Every astonished "GASP!" in this video makes me want to order one so that I may experience the same joy. 😂
It was genuinely unexpected :-)
I’m a complete newcomer to lock picking, and my wife bought me this set. I’m so glad to see that I’m not the only one who struggles with them due to thickness. The only thing I’ve really found any use for is the turning tool when used for top of keyway tensioning (fortunately I have another set of picks that seem to be a little easier to use, if not also a bit on the thick side).
Well, proof that a decent picker doesn’t need great tools but I don’t think anyone would have much fun with them.
I agree :-)
LOL!!!!! Love the James Bond name on credit card pouch... Can you imagine customs going through your wallet LOL!!!!! Great video buddy.
Lol, thanks for watch8ng Waddac2 :-)
Moral of the story: You should never blame your tools :-)
Too true :-)
Panc8ke mine is another reason I can’t hold the tools without like hurting my hand so I need some type of grip on it but other than that my tools are good
I received a set for free when I first bought some practice locks. Have carried them around for nearly two years in my wallet and they did come in useful once when having to open a desk drawer wafer lock at work, saved me a trip home to get my picks.
Still a novelty item IMHO
Oh yeah, total novelty, but actually, these are perfect for wafer cams as you said :-)
I keep one of these (sold by lockmall, amazon) in my wallet, it's saved my neck a couple of times, the quality of the lockmall case seems to be a lot nicer too, not quite so stiff. I had been considering making my own picks to put inside the case, however so far the ones they provided have been quite usable.
It’s cool that you managed to get some use out of one :-)
What are you folks even doing to have some cheap picks "save your neck a couple of times"? Are you randomly getting trapped in places, or deciding bar fights with a lockpicking competition or doing surprise geocaching or spontaneous physical pentesting/red teaming or helping old ladies get into their homes all the time or what?
@@NormanTheDormantDoormat Primarily for those annoying times you (or a forgetful colleague) leaves their locker keys at home or accidentally locks the filing cabinet keys inside the cabinet, there are countless times when accidents happen and can be very frustrating unless you have something like this available.
To give you another example; my boss was in our store at work last month when he got distracted by a phone call, and ended up clicking shut the padlock while the keys were inside. He spent a long time trying to smash open the padlock with a 2lb hammer which resulted in a damaged door and slightly dented lock, all because he didn't have lockpicking knowledge or a simple set of tools like this. Had I been around, I could have opened the lock and retrieved the keys without any damage to the door/lock.
@@HobbyPicker TBH i was more hoping for the barfight lockpicking competition, but i guess your example makes sense. Thanks for the reply.
@@NormanTheDormantDoormat Can't say it's happened to me yet... (no chance of that happening any time soon, not in a bar anyway!)
Thickness isn't too bad for those in the US. I have used them quite a bit. Obviously not as good as my regular picks but surprisingly decent. I've got a lot of use out of the tension tool. In the end regular picks with handles cut down are probably better.
Yes, like some secure pro picks :-)
The first practice lock and picks I ever purchased had an identical set thrown in. I still have them minus the credit card case. And on occasions use them. The tension tool is useable after som grinding, I never done anything with the picks other than debur them.
Good fun but would soon disillusion a beginner.
Yeah I think you are right :-)
I like how in the beginning of the video you can see the fluff handcuffs
😉😁
I've got one set and hace to day that with a handle and grinding them, they are very good picks. And you enjoy working on them.
Sorry
I have to say
Witha bit of work they can be ok :-)
If you take the time to round the edge and smooth them, the tension and city rake are a good addition in a Mace picks set. The tension work great with wide open keyway. But you will need some elbow grease to make them usable.
Good idea :-)
Or a power tool 😊
First set I ever bought was a practice lock and the same set of tools (but not in a credit card). I find the city rake useful, particularly on smaller padlocks.
Same here :-) mine were a little better finished though :-)
"Fluffy handcuffs" "thick in both ways" 😂
:-)
mr bond, you left your credit card on the table while you filmed this video, i strongly recommend you calling your bank and canceling the card.
Lol :-) I didn’t expose the cvv number, so we should be ok :-)
@@LockNoob It's expired anyway... 😉
got the 36p set coming today as my first set. I'm looking forward to giving it ago.
I saw someone roast the hell out of a credit card pick set
"I use these tiny toddler tools to pick my nose."
Fun fact: the tension tool is the only one I have that is small enough to work decently with the Multipick Mk2 cylinder. Of course that simply means I don't have a decent selection of tension tools. The €16 set of Banggood picks and a plastic learning lock had those thrown in more or less "for free", so it doesn't hurt to have them (until you use them...)
You can never have enough tension tools :-)
The gasps of surprise win over the picks, hands down. To be fair, if you can pick with Bobby pins, it's hardly surprising these would work and like you say, a little more finesse in finishing would make then the perfect "keep in the pocket" set. Maybe Ucof could make a handle that would fit into the card body, a little like the tweezers of a Victorinox Swiss Army knife? 🤔
I really didn’t expect them to work, lol :-)
I got this set of picks as some kind of free add-on to another lockpicking product that I bought, and my set isn't that sharply edged. Actually my card picks and the tensioner feel quite well finished. So, maybe they either changed something on their production process, or your package somehow missed the quality control.
BTW, after watching your video, I took my set out of my wallet and tried the city rake on an Abus Buffo. I was almost as surprised as you were in your picking test, when it opened quite quickly. Then I tried it on the old Abus that I took out of our flat's door (in that week I started lockpicking). It opened almost just as fast. Phew! I hope our new Titalium cylinder is less vulnerable, at least to a low skill raking attack.
Good work with the ABUS!
Aye aye bit of a slip at Start Mr Noob Flify Handcufs...dont say for Picking u Norti Boy lol
That Tenson Tool reminds me if a 2 Manned tree Felling Saw for some reason
A little thinning out on the Shafts and smoothing n polishing handy lil set to keep handy
You should see the searches I deleted before I made the vid, lol :-)
Proof that it isn't the picks but the picker. I doubt many beginners would open those locks with those picks. Good job Lock Noob.
Thank you :-)
You should do a video on cleaning them up, thinning them in width and thickness, and modifying the curving of the picks. Kind of a "we got them cheap, now lets throw an hour at them and make them better" video.
Also,, is it possible to add anything to the kit inside the plastic case? Like a Sparrows Flex Pass, and/or a couple of BOK/TOK wrenches?
Thanks again for a great video!
Nice idea; I did a similar vid here ua-cam.com/video/kyftIwySuk8/v-deo.html
Got a set of these and deburred them. I've had a lot of fun with them picking the few locks I have.
Awesome :-)
Do you think its possible to give them a pro upgrade without them turning into dust?
I think so :-) if you are careful :-j
Just shows it proofs that a good operator can use anything.
Maybe!
I got one, they work REALLY well for a novice or for opening easy locks, like Masterlock. But I snapped the rake from metal fatigue.
I have one of the old James bond credit card pick sets, bought it for the novelty and never used it.
Fun set to spark interest, with one of those clear locks, but I wouldn't open an Assa twin combo with one, mind you still never fully picked the twin, one day, one day
😀😀😀
Me neither. One day!
Bit of fettling and it’d be a useful “EDC” set…apart from that you’d be “going equipped” without a reason to be carrying them.
OK, Please remember,Clear you're screen BEFORE you start the video. We ALL saw you where looking at fluffy lined hand cuffs. What you and the missis do on your own time is fine but you DON'T have to share it with us! LOL. Of course we now know your real name from the credit card, Mr. James Bond!
Lol, you should see the searches I had to delete before making the vid, lol :-)
I actually pick a viro 103 lock with that exact set btw
Cool
I m just a Starter and i buyed These 4 a lang time ago and i fest the same ... i cut my Fingers since ive make them a bit smoother... jeah you va pick a regular lock with it but you nee to finish them so smooth that you got a good pick... i perfer my Otter lockpicking set to get it done
I have one of those, taped them on a thick paper, slipped them into my name tag at work, opened some window lock, wafer locks for the nurses locker, horrible tension wrench, but it'll do in a pinch.
"Fluffy handcuffs" lol
The only credit card that won't fit a machine
Money saved then give to wife tell her she can spend as much as she can make it give her
Lol :-)
That was well done, I gave up with the tension wrench, it's awful.
It’s ok in a pinch :-)
James Bond is looking for his lock picks
Well, finders keepers! :-)
Found you today, following one of your comments about a Bosnian Bill video. Subscribed on the strength of this video. (Stranger things have happened.) Thanks, and Hello, from the wilds of deepest Yellowbelly-shire.
Thank you and welcome! :-)
Was the pick set used to pick the lock on the fluffy handcuffs
I’m not saying 😆
Fluffy handcuffs lmao!
😆
Great pickers can pick with almost anything, Great job my friend.
Thanks dude :-)
Ooh name drop for a friend👍👍😉
I personally leave them alone for someone who has smaller hands than i
Gotta give credit where credit is due :-)
well done, you should make a follow up video on what you would do to make that set “acceptable “
I got a similar set in my Lock Cowboy starter set. I've not even opened it yet.
Yes, i have one in my set too
Thank you so much for your invaluable information, highly appreciate it, keep it up the outstanding job, have a great day.
Thanks 🙏
Lets be honest here, for 2 quid you can't really moan and the best part they actually worked, which was a shock to me also.
Just goes to show if you give an accomplished picker the tools they will make them work, very nicely done LN ;-)
Accomplished might be a description that’s a bit of a stretch but I’ll take it, thanks :-)
@@LockNoob : You're very much welcome mate. Don't forget you recently came in the top ten at that locksport contest, so I would say you were an accomplished picker ;-)
i bought a set Luke this fromm wish and IT was around 22' and IT Has my favorite tensionat Tool. (IT Has the only snake hat in have)
Hi Lock Noob.
I'd just like to say that they have since updated this set, from Loboo Idea's amazon page:
"High Quality. This is the improved new design pick set, more springy, durable and easy to use. It will come out in perfect smooth working condition with no loose parts or pins. Each tool is made of fine .035 spring stainless steel."
I ordered it a few days ago and I can confirm that there are no sharp edges or burrs on any of the tools and the steel seems to be a bit shinier than the one in the video. They have upped the price to £2.99 now so I'm guessing that the extra money was put into the finish. Not sure if they have changed the thickness - I don't have a thickness gauge :-)
Thanks for the info:-)
I have a video series about this kit. I use it as my EDC kit in the car (for emergency). Of course heavily modified and I replaced the tension tool with a normal Z wrench (also modified). I also plan to talk about it at LockCon if my talk gets "accepted" :)
Awesome! I’ve not heard about my talk being accepted :-)
I thought about getting one for the same purpose, how did you mod the kit?
@@ilijapetrovic5002 ua-cam.com/video/Ot1wBiAe1J4/v-deo.html
Can you do a video on picking fluffy handcuffs
Lol
The comments seem shocked that they work but we also know you can pick locks with a couple of bent hairpins if you're good enough. I'd bet on this guy in a contest between us, even if I had the greatest picks in the world and he had the unmodified credit card set.
Bought an Amazon recommend 30 piece set on Thursday. Arrived Friday, City Rake broke inside the lock today. I'm a newbie and was using an Abus padlock to practice on. I did think it would last longer than three days.
Some of those Amazon sets can be pretty poor quality
Ain’t nobody gonna talk about the fluffy handcuffs
Very nice review my friend, the first thing i Will say is that picking is when you use a pick so raking is picking too but we All know what you mean 👍 and i have made a saturday series on the James Bond vertion of this set, it is the same set but IT is a James Bond Visa card tho, i actually like these but i have not cleaned mine as they Work just fine i even picked both a assa ruko 2 padlock and a American 1100
I will have to go check out that series! I know what you mean about picking/raking... but raking is raking and picking is picking for me :-) though both are lockpicking techniques :-)
@@LockNoob you are welcome to do so, and we All say IT our own ways (and IT is ok with me) but what i see is that people keep calling rakes a pick together with hooks and All the others and yet they call spping for picking witch (for me anyway) seems wrong as you pick with a pick and if a rake is a pick then you are also picking with a rake so i just think IT is more pricise to say what techniques names but then Again you do you👍
Great video.
Thanks:-)
@Lock Noob what lock is that that you picked last? Where do the sell them, I have never seen them before
The Tenside Tool is the Harvestehude one 😢
What pick set was used to pick the locks prior to using the credit card lock pick set?
A Southord Max 07b
Lock Noob thank you!
Are they pretty good?
You actually use a raking motion with the city rake(L rake)? I thought you are suppose to rock it up n down?
You are right, but it’s a tool that has flexibility and if it opens a lock, you used it correctly :-)
I tried looking for Lockpicking Sets on the US Amazon, but there's just a bunch of look alike sets with no reviews. :|
I always recommend going for a named brand wheee budget allows
I am as surprised with that as you. They look pretty crude and the shaft is wide as well as remarkably thick. You would have to spend a fair bit of time touching them up with sandpaper and I imagine, a file.
You would, and I doubt it would really be worth it!
I wonder what a grown man that spends most his time kick picking needs fluffy handcuffs for?
Ask your mum 😁
@@LockNoob damn
So this dude changed the pins on these locks just to "gasp" at the paid promotion he's getting from showing this Amazon product. Wow oh wow
Paid promotion. From Amazon? I’d love to do one but I’m waaaaay to small a channel for them to be interested in me
Thank you! I just inherited one of these sets from my deceased father. Wasn’t sure it would work.
I really dont care what picks I use I just gotta learn how to use them
Got one of these, they're really sharp and my palm looks like a corn field after I tried them with a tiny TSA007
What is the lock pick you were using at 4:10 ??
A Southord MAX 07b 😃👍
Very good video wasn't expecting them to work as good :)
Neither was I, lol :-)
I definitely got something similar to this set !
Do you use it? :-)
@@LockNoob yep definitely 👍
So strange how the cheap lock picks are razor sharp but the cheap knives are round and dull
Oh, the irony :-)
Should i buy lock pick gun or lock pick manual
If you want fun choose the manual
@@LockNoob but i am a beginner.what do you prefer for me?
It's a knowledge that makes the magic happen not the set. You know you can even pick a lock with a needle if you have to... :)
True
I've had one of these for a while, one with a white case. having to "finish" the picks is a new one on me; I must've grabbed a slightly more expensive set way back when :P
Yeah, the really cheap sets have to be sanded a little 👍😃
Think this is a a case of pickers skills over pick quality...
🥃cheers🍻
Very kind of you to say 🙂
Would you guys recommend this when you lose your keys to your room..question
Do u know any cheap master locks that I can buy?
Most of them are pretty good value. Check eBay :-)
what is the cheapest fluffy handcufs..
Well that explains why I haven't been able to learn any picking skills! I'm using the worst tools possible! 🤣
I got a set of these for free from some survivalist website. Thankfully mine weren't sharp at all.
Yeah, they are pretty rubbish :-)
I want to start lock picking, you y'all know a good starter kit in Amazon?
I operate a laser cutting machine and must say if that was laser cut the machine setting were terrible.
I think you might be right :-)
are we gonna egnore that hs search history is fluffy hand cuffs
😆😆
did you ever go into the music shop, see some guy pick up the cheapest guitar and make it sound amazing? :)
For sure! :-)
Noob question: what does paracentric mean?
Basically that the keyway has warding that does not leave a vertical gap from the bottom to the pins. AKA a wiggly keyway :-)
Thanks Lock Noob.
For an impatient man this set will drive me nuts.
Thank you. Great, informative video.
Thank you :-)
the set is cheap as Hell,,, but they do the job. I have several sets of these(different brand), I use them as templates to make my own set of lock picks out of wiper blade inserts.
Nice idea
Are these contactless lock picks
Could you link your picks to your smart phone to pay for locks?
Oh, for sure :-)
Wait a minute whats that?! 0:05
