    Another small point: whenever you tighten the jack initially, you now get to use the 'full travel' of the jack and also to squeeze out any air (from inside the jack) too. Very well explained, Ramesh 👌👍

    I appreciate your videos. I have got to learn alot from your video illustrations. But just a one point to add from my experience on hydraulic jack is that there is a vent which is opened and closed to purge air in the jack before continuing pressurizing the jack.

  • @satyabratgaan4918

    Thanks Sir for your video.
    If u take original length of stud=d, then when we tighten it let it elongate to d+d1. when we put jack and elongate let new length =d+d1+d2, then we loosen the nut, and release pressure so now stud has to come back to its original length that is d, but because no quarter turn back was given hence it reaches only d+d1. Hence to give that d1 distance for stud to get back to original length d we give it a quarter turn back.

    Hello Chief! Ur explanation provides very clear picture and really helpful.
    Chief I have one doubt, please clarify here itself. This quarter turn practise is safe and mandatory during untightening of hydraulic nut as the stud is already in elongated length as nut is tightened..what about during tightening time.. Because that time the stud is in original length.. Would it be required to keep quarter turn??..

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  3 роки тому +1

      Theoretically not necessary....Correct??

    • @suranjanghoshal3390
      @suranjanghoshal3390 3 роки тому

      @@rmetcvideos yeah sir... Theoretically not required while tightening hydraulic nut

    • @suranjanghoshal3390
      @suranjanghoshal3390 3 роки тому

      As stud will be at elongated length and will have tendency of stud to shrink but won't come to back exactly original length.. Hence the piston which is srewed with stud's thread will also be in that position and won't touch the stationary cylinder part.

    • @suranjanghoshal3390
      @suranjanghoshal3390 3 роки тому

      @@rmetcvideos but yes...as engineer safe practise... I would like to opt the practise of quarter turn while tightening also... Always better to double ensure that after relieving pressure, piston don't touch stationary cylinder surface, before stud returns to original length. Though theoretically while tightening not required.. Please have input sir!

    Sir how we elongate two step by hydraulic nut? Once the hydraulic piston reaches the max top position, how can we tighten for high pressure without releasing the pressure?

  • @shashankrawat9106
    @shashankrawat9106 2 роки тому

    While opening the hydraulic nut we loose the jack quarter turn - concept understood from the video.
    Is quarter turning is done when we want to tighten the hydraulic nut or not? Some Chief says to turn jack even while tightening but some don't. If I apply same concept as in video then after tightening also if we did not turned the jack, when we will release hydraulic pressure we again cannot unscrew the jack.
    Please clarify my doubt.

    • @surendarj8935
      @surendarj8935 2 роки тому

      We don't need to open quarter turn for tightening hydraulic nut because it is not in stretched condition u have to fully tighten hydraulic jack to the spacer and make sure hydraulic piston is fully tightened into Jack by slackening purging cock and tighten it ,if not your oring will damage when piston lifts maximum from jack

    • @udaybhargava
      @udaybhargava 8 місяців тому

      @@surendarj8935 How so ? As after tightening it will eventually become stretched and same problem will be there. Please elaborate.

    • @rmetcvideos

      If you open one turn, IT will take quite a long time to build up pressure. Hope you will remain patient till it builds up ..:-)

    • @lahiruwickramasinghe6547
      @lahiruwickramasinghe6547 3 роки тому

      @@rmetcvideos it won't take much time to build up the pressure, normally in big engines(98 bore) we used to open hyd. jack one turn and loose the nut. Its also a good practise when we realease hydraulic pressure, reduce it by very slowly and each time with the tommy bar check whether nut is freely moving.

    • @surendarj8935
      @surendarj8935 2 роки тому

      If we open one turn or more, then hydraulic piston lift from jack will more that will results in oring rupture

    With due respect sir,what is going to happen if we loosen the nut and it touches the jack piston??
    As we release the pressure the stud along with the nut and jack piston will come down,but still it interferes with the operation.
    Sir can you kindly help me to visualize the above issue.

    • @udaybhargava
      @udaybhargava 8 місяців тому

      I think in that case the nut will get stuck with the piston, as when the bolt will compress it will also take the piston with it and probably we'll need to pressurize it again to tight the nut a bit to open it. Also it wont let the piston to come down fully thus pressure will not be reduced.
