Failure can make a person go one of two ways, self doubt or the want to succeed, from my experience. You haven’t totally given up, just post powned to try something different. I love that you’re willing to try again. I know you will figure it out. You’re a very intelligent person. It will work❤!!! Great update Anthony, thanks for sharing.
Multiple failure goes the self-doubt way. The old adage about insanity can also apply. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again the same way and expecting a different result." Yes, I have a determination to get it right, but the nerves are on full emergency standby, too.
The road system is certainly very interesting around the station/bus station. Ahh the ghost of 2015 😅 you must've banished him now to leave you in peace to enjoy your layout lol
Yes, 2015 got banished... I got tired of having to come up with gimmicks and scripts for those episodes, but I also had stopped really working on the layout so it was not worth making videos.
Hello Anthony my friend. Wow what an adventure you have been on with the faller car system. I admire your perseverance over the years with this given how much time money and work has already gone into this. I think I would have launched it out the door a long time ago lol. It's an incredible project and I'm 100% sure you will win the battle and have it running. See you Friday take care.
The temptation to chuck it all out has been there since the failures began, but I wanted to figure it out. I hate to lose, but I got to get on with my layout, and this is one of two major impediments. Hope you are well! Cheers!
Hello Anthony, very interesting to hear your adventures with the Faller system. Most frustrating when you had it working then purchased the traffic control module and it all went downhill at a rapid rate. Hopefully this time you can get it going, good on you to give it another go!
My layout has stood virtually unchanged since 2022, and I can not move on it until I sort out this car system- get it working or giving up on it. So, it is time to get going on it.
Yes, it has been a long road (pun there). Over the last 3 years, I had chastised myself saying "should have left well enough alone." As I showed in this video, I did get it all in place, then mucked it up. Now... one last try!
That's some story,. You put 110% into trying to solve all the problems. The stunning design and build like the real time displays its unbelievable. Its almost real life looking on the pics... I know how you feel on when things go rong like on that £100 pound sound chip that failed on me but for your project it was a much bigger deal and a unique kind of layout inside a layout... I think the bus station looks stunning without the faller system anyway... Thanks for showing Anthony...
Hi, Jim! I do love the structural build of the bus center a lot, and when I was inspired to have the buses running, it all clicked, and for a week it was amazing. Then, I just could not leave enough alone... Cheers and thanks for watching!
I think this is important. I see too many videos of how wonderful everything is and if there are problems it’s the products fault. This hobby can be a struggle. Overcoming the obstacles is very satisfying but sometimes that doesn’t happen and we need to acknowledge that. Thanks for making this
Hi Anthony I remember the original videos, 37,38,39 and 40 as I was thinking about the faller system. It never got beyond thinking though. I'll now wait for part 3. All the best to you and the family Anthony, Andy.
Hello, Andy! Great to see you commenting here! It is a great system, and relatively easy to do. I just wish I knew why it became such a muckfest for me. So, now I am trying it again.
Hi Anthony, I can understand your frustration after spending many hours planning and installing the Faller system only for it to fail in the end. When it did work it looked perfect with the bus running around and stopping at the bus station. Its a shame it didnt work as you hoped. Cheers, Paul.👍👍👍
I should have left it as is after I added the last two reed-sensors on the outer branch-off sections. Nope, I decided I wanted a central command to make it easier for me to run it... and that's when it went downhill, even when I tried to reverse build down to a more simplistic version.
Hi Anthony, The 2nd part was well worth waiting to see and you get from me 100% for effort and I can hopefully assume that this set of video's is because with the hybrid system you have got somewhere so roll on the next part and show us your delight at it working but well done indeed for having another go sometimes it you wait long enough a new sytem comes out and sorts it for us. Cheers Robert.
Hello, Robert As always, thanks for the very kind and insightful words. Fingers crossed! I get it right this time. I am almost ready to wire things up and do a final test... I just have to do some adjustments under the table. I have been delayed helping my son look at a house he and his new bride want to buy. Cheers and take care!
Wow Anthony. Great honest discussion. You are pretty hard on yourself. You chose a complex layout to replicate as a first try. Closely modelled to an actual station, and you made it work!! Awesome! Win, win! 🎉🥇 The bus running around and parking looks amazing. Well done that man! 👍 So the addition of the master controller looks to be the system downfall. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is always a challenge. Sometime pushing technology beyond what it is capable of can be extremely frustrating as you question yourself rather than the hardware/software. We tend to blame ourselves when something doesn't work, but we may be doing things beyond the capacity of the system that we're trying to manipulate outside of its design capabilities? I really hope that the next phase achieves a better solution and gives you a result that you'll be happy with. 🤞 Onwards and Upwards. Happy Modelling Mon
Hello, Monsville. I did have it working in 2020, until I tried to upgrade it, then everything just kept going wrong. I don't think I am too hard on myself... brutally honest about myself, maybe. Thousands of folks have the system up and working and do amazing things with it, and I keep striking out. So, we will try one more time here and see what happens. Thanks for the kind words!
Hey Anthony, wow that system really got you down. Your resilience is inspirational, I hope you manage to get the new system in place, it will be amazing when it’s all complete. The bus depot, especially the lighting looks incredible. Look forward to the next video, hope all goes well. Best wishes Anthony MJ
Hello, ANthony. Thanks for the kind words! Yes, it beat me up pretty good. To have it all working and then screw up it up because you wanted to upgrade it to something fancy, then never get even the basic working after multiple tries. Makes me feel rather dull-witted. So, I have finally plucked up the courage to try again, all be it slowly and with modifications.
Another great installment Anthony. My layout has a bus station situated in between two railway stations in the same town. These days only one station exists but my parents worked on the buses at the station. I do not have space to re-create accurately on my layout and the bus station is about a quater of the size, a bit of modelers license is applied on my layout unfortunately. I am jealous that you are able to be so accurate in size and scale with yours, a brilliant job. I look forward to the next episodes of this wonderful story. Geoff.
Hello Geoff, thank you for the very nice comment and your own experiences. In the model world (trains, militaria, etc.) we all have to take a level of license... nothing is truly accurate... except maybe some simple end to end builds. I am lucky to have the space that I could make the Delmenhorst station to scale. The bus station is also too scale, but the roads can't be... I have to condense 2 lanes to 1 and reduce the size of everything to fit it in, but I just want the buses to come in somewhat like the do in reality as best as I can. Joyce and others have said "wouldn't it have been easier to..." And I have said, "Yes, but..." Still, I had it all working for a short period of time and then decided to upgrade, and it turned into a repetitive nightmare. Now I am trying it all over again from square one. Anyhow, best wishes to you and very appreciative of you taking the time to watch and more time to comment!
very interesting Anthony! i'm kinda leaning toward magnorail, since i'm an 'easy button' guy and all i want is to watch cars go around :D still interested to see this project develop!
Hi John! If you just wat cars going around, the most basic level of the Faller Car System is easier than the Magnorail (embedding a wire vs. building chain gear drive and embedding it). The cars just follow the guide wire... no motors, no sensors, etc. It just gets more expensive with each car you add.
I'm now just getting back to my layout After my brother passed I was a little lost and was getting frustrated with a layout I was trying to build and ended up pulling it up and restarting but I think I can keep going now
I am very sorry to hear about your brother. Such things can throw everything out of kilter for sure, and our hobbies are the first to suffer. I need to get back to working on things, myself, but motivation to work on some things is very hard to find.
I did see a couple of faller buses in Hattons before they announced there closure but they looked very toy like and at 54 and 70 + pound I gave them a miss even using them as a base chassis, I`m amazed no ones made the components to convert modify models. I`ve seen a chinese copy of a motorised axle but it`s no cheaper. I`ve just dipped my toe into the faller system
Hi Clive, The basic faller bus is very simplistic looking, especially the generation 3. These are designed to be switched with actual Rietze models of the same bus type. Faller does sell conversions and even just chassis without the shell, too. I know I have seen cheap knock-off conversion parts, but I could not tell you from where... it's been 3-4 years, and I did not trust it.

Whew, defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.
Indeed... leave well enough alone.

I have confidence in you Anthony that you will finally succeed. You can do it. Heck of a journey.
I wish I did. Been in a holding pattern while I sort out some other stuff, but I hope to get back to it this weekend. Grandest wishes to you!
That was a great update Anthony, thank you much! Have a Great rest of your week! (Dave).
Thanks for the visit and comment! Cheers!

Thank you , fore get ting into streaming that’s the best thing that had happened with the failure of the car system. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks, Jean
man what a journey you have been on. Just keep up the great work.
Indeed, Rick... it has been a bumpy ride with this.

It looks very good depending on the angle you would not know it's a model
Thank you very much!
Hi Anthony, Still awake I can understand why it’s taken four and a half years mine would have been in the bin by now lol 😂 cheers Al
4 years with 2 years walking away from it. We will see how this goes.

Not the system, it's the user.
