6 for 6... how it's a spin to the right ? on the minute 6:01 .... it's showing the bank was on the left + the heading numbers are decreasing ?Am i wrong ? please explain it if possible ty
This caught my eye as well, I believe you are correct. It should be a left* spin!! I got my instrument rating in a G1000 172
You need to look at the magenta arc (turn rate trend vector) just above the HSI. The magnetometer is not to be trusted when in a spin.
@@1dgram thank you for the correction! Haven’t had any spin instruction yet since I’m not a cfi yet.
@@1dgram so the attitude indicator is not to be trusted either?
@@TehOGKush With the six pack in a spin the attitude indicator topples, and with the G1000 in a spin unless your AHRS is demonstrated to have 100% reliability in all flight attitudes then assume that the artificial horizon is lying to you. It is the turn coordinator not the artificial horizon that is primary when in a spin.
6 for 6, Reminds me of foggle flying when my CFI has me close my eyes with ear against shoulder while he dives, climbs, shallow bank left, descending steep bank right....."now open your eyes and recover coordinated level flight!" Exciting stuff, thanks Jason!!
That is twice that I have done this w/ you and knocked it out of the park!
6 for 6. MzeroA Nation raising the bar.
6 for 6. Such an awesome upgrade to the online ground school. Something even experienced pilots can use!!!! Awesome sauce!!
6 for 6. This was a GREAT one! My flight school teaches Butcher. But I agree that it is all dependent on the STUDENT. This ground school IS THE BEST. Nice job Jason and MZeroA Team!
Day one for me. I had a lesson yesterday and afterwards when we were going over my prep for my next flight he suggested your page. So here I am.
Yes I will go back and watch the first five, plus the episode I actually came looking for for my next flight - slow flight.
6 for 6 these videos are great. Thanks Jason. Be safe and keep the blue side up.
6 4 6 hello Jason ; I truly love this scanning exercise, and certainly can’t seem to get enough of it while I am practising at home. Only wish I could get more of this flash card style of video to help strengthen my memory muscle. I have shared your videos with other fellow pilots and have encouraged a non-pilot friend who is learning with me the fundamentals of flight in preparation to landing in aircraft safely should I not be capable of performing.
And once again thank you and your team for taking and sharing your knowledge with us✈️
6/6. This was the hardest thing for me when i started my instrument training. now it's so ingrained in me that i do this when flying vfr! I always need more practice because a good pilot.... you know...
I’ve always taught these two same methods, but the way you’ve articulated the details is pure poetry. Agree that Hub-Spoke method is more natural and also more consistent between IFR/VFR environment where instead of AI we have the actual view outside which should consume most of our attention. Also love the perceptual exercise. Thank you for another great video! 6/6
great interactive tool for practicing, your videos are amazing! keep up the awesome work!!
6/6 really enjoying this series! Thanks for sharing
nice demonstration of your scanning techniques....simple and to the point!
Very good Jason, keep up the great work!!!
6 for 6. Really enjoying the Ground School Trial. Currently working through Lesson 6 - Radio Communications.
6/6 I don’t have the standard 6 pack. My instruments are more linear. This is a good way to teach instrument scan. Nice job.
6 for 6, love the 31 Day Safer Pilot Challenge It is amazing!
I love the online ground school, but I had to go to a lovely online couple for my Sport Pilot GS. Yours gave me a good foundation though.
6 for 6. Reminds me of my training days. I could definitely use some practice on this but I got all except one of these right! That was a G1000 which I am unfamiliar with.
Love that training tool!
6/6 - thanks for this series!!
I'm days 6 for 6. loving the videos
6 for 6. Keep them coming!
6 for 6. Loving these videos.
love this. It sure encouraged me to speed up my scan. I am good at these things when I stop and think, but you don't always have time to think 10 seconds before reacting.
Great to hear!
I’m 6 for 6. Thanks for Sharing.
6 for 6!! Great detail!!
6/6 headed for 31/31. Great stuff!,
6 for 6! Thanks for the great content!
Thank you sir for the the exercise!
This was so helpful ! Thank you! I was having trouble keeping my eyes outside the airplane because I would stay stuck on one instrument
This is beautiful.
I must also say I love your philosophy on flying and i plan on reading your book!
Thanks for watching! Glad you are enjoying the content!
Wow I enjoyed this !!!
6/6 on it. Great video.
I’m a hub and spoke guy. Learned that from MZA ground school and haven’t used anything different since
Great exercise on six pack. Need one for digital HSI and attitude indicator. That would be great for transition training.
6/6 Excellent video!
6 for 6. The wagon wheel method personally works with me. I'm enjoying these videos Jason
Thanks for the kind words Trevor!
6/6 - your videos are awesome!! This will be the year I get my PPL ticket
Good luck!!
This is a great practice exercise. Thanks Jason
Glad you liked it!
6-6; Great timing as I start instrument training next week and definitely will need to work on my scan.
Believe it or not Microsoft flight sim or X plane 11 helped me with my instrument rating. Would load up my local approaches or practice holding entries.
I love this exercise! 6 for 6.
very helpful, working on my PPL and aspiring CFI. Thank you!:)
Thanks for watching! Best of luck!
Jason and M0A are fantastic. I had purchased an IFR course from a well known pilot supply place, it was not designed for someone who wanted to do everything from square one without paying a CFII for the ground portion. I ended up getting my money back and becoming an M0A member. Thanks to Jason I passed my written with an 87, it would have been higher but I have a real mental block when it comes to VOR questions. Sadly, the flight portion hasn't gone as well as the ground, so I get to rejoin M0A, get a fresh endorsement and redo my written. It expired while I was in a discontinuance for weather, and the weather just hasn't cooperated since I requested the discontinuance. Since I have to retake the written my goal is to score a 100 this time around! I know that with M0A I can do it.
Nice work ! Keep it up and you'll get there! Thanks for your positive feedback!
6 4 6 Thanks Jason
Australian pilot here but I plan on travelling to the US sometime this year and fly there, meet friends. I definitely going to use your ground school mostly to learn the air law differences but your interactive tools there they look really useful. 6 for 6.
Have fun and thanks for watching!
646! Thanks Jason and team!
6 for 6! all this is great!
6/6. Great stuff, as always!
Keep it up! Thanks for watching!
The “wagon wheel” approach works just as well for Day VFR - it’s just that the “seventh” instrument is your centre go-to - and that’s the attitude your Mark 1 eyeball sees through the windscreen between each instrument glance. But don’t forget the instrument glances - ‘cos you may be following gently lowering terrain (or more insidiously gently rising terrain) without knowing it - and your altitude is decaying with airspeed slowly creeping above cruise / Vno, or more insidiously altitude climbing and airspeed decaying towards stall!
This was a great video. 6/6
Learned wagon wheel way! 6 for 6.
6 for 6. As always loving it
Thanks for watching!
Your ground school exercise is powerful indeed. Keep your good work. +1
We'll try to! Thanks for tuning in!
Six for six - another great topic
Nice Jason really enjoy your videos 👍
Glad you like them!
6/6, great scan practice!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent Jason! 6 For 6
Nice!
Great stuff. The TC is not centered graphically. Nice clean look. There is no one-scan pattern to pick and should change based on the flight condition, how you scan in straight and level is very different than a descending turn.
So much help.
So awesome you enjoyed it!
Alright, that tool was actually pretty useful
6 for 6 Thank you
Hey Jason, I am 6 for 6! 😊
glad to hear it!
G, day Jason from Sydney Australia.
I like it when:
* Altitude
* Airspeed (in the top end of green)
* Wings level (attitude)
"And you know what I'd like to do with that F@&+*$ ball. (Step on the rudder)!!!!
Best wishes
🤔📒🛩️🧭
thanks for the feedback John!
love the Spanish plate
That was awesome
thanks for watching!
Thanks.
Great lesson my friend 👍
Many thanks
I’m 646.. love them all
Thanks for tuning in! Keep it up!
There is a GREAT book, aptly titled “Instrument Flying Made Easy”, by Gene Hudson. Section 2-5 provides several tricks/shortcuts on instrument scanning. Unfortunately the book is out of print (5th edition copyright 2004). If you can find a used copy, it’s worth its weight in gold to any IFR student or even experienced pilot.
6:01 is answered as a right spin and I understand the attitude indicator can be unreliable in a spin, but the DG is showing a turn to the left. Could you clarify why this is a right spin?
6:6. I love the snap six pack!
thanks for watching!
6 for 6, LOVE IT......On my way to Instrument Certificate
Good luck!
6 for 6, great practice
Glad to hear it!
Are any pilots not based in the USA enjoying the ground school? I'm always looking for new tools to become a safer pilot, but I'm not sure it would suit a pilot based in Australia such as myself. Cheers!
6 of 6
Cool!
Thanks for watching!
6/6 here
6:00 im pretty sure that was still a left spin though

Is it possible to get a life time membership?
Sure is!!! Please email Sarah@MzeroA.com and she can make it happen
6 for 6! You had me confused. You said it was a spin to the left with a six pack. The ball was to the left. You always learn to step on the ball. If this is the case you would just keep spinning to the left. Does the ball travel towards the direction of the spin?
You can't rely on the ball in a spin. It depends on where the instrument is installed in the aircraft. Almost always, the ball is mounted left of the lateral CG and will indicate left regardless.
What@@whoanelly737-8 said is correct. You need to look at the miniature airplane component of the turn coordinator to tell the direction of the spin (assuming that just looking outside to see in what direction the ground is spinning is not an option).
@@1dgram Well you can always do one or two things. You can either hope that you’re right, or you press and hold left rudder for two seconds and if that doesn’t stop it use the other rudder pedal!
@@aviatortrucker6198 and by that time you might be dead. Dumb idea.
Isn’t 6:01 also to the left?! 🤔
