I sent JC a fan letter when I was 14, early 1970s. Python had just toured Canada, years before the TV show broke in the U.S. Just mailed my letter to the BBC, London, UK. It took a couple of months, but he wrote me back a very sweet letter on dark-blue paper (with matching envelope). He included a photo of the Pythons with his autograph. It was a treasured possession till some swine stole it at a party 10 years later. That still irks.
I feel for your loss. It seems that people are harder to trust these days than ever before! At least a mutual love of Python is binding. edit: ah, you lost it at a party ten years LATER, I misread that and thought you meant it happened recently. Maybe the early 80s just sucked.
I love John's sense of humour... he seems so humble and composed. Truly remarkable man... he really brightens the room with his charm and infectious wit.
This is my favorite Python interview, and perhaps one of my favorite celebrity interviews of all time. Over 10 years now, and I still hunt it down when I feel blue. I think it works because you have caught the man at home, relaxed, in his element, and very open. You are not bombarding him with questions he has answered endlessly. I reminds me of when I was a boy, when my grandfather would show a visitor around his garden. Beautiful. So beautiful.
RANDOM FANDOM "when i think back to all the CRAP i learned in high school, it's a wonder i can think at all" hey I DIDNT SAY THAT, Paul Simon did, and he's like 30 years older than me. just sayin, don't blame the millennials, don't blame my generation, just blame humanity, Matthew 18:21-35 #hisnameisYehoVAH
Indeed. He gave a fake smooch (7:08) to show his guest what he'd do if his cat was on it's perch. That cat hears that and instantly zooms up there to get a real smooch.
My deepest admiration goes to those who raise the bar in their vocation. Cleese (and the rest of the Pythons, of course), Matt Groening, etc. Thank you for everything.
Fabulous. John Cleese is one of my favorite people in the world. Great comedian, tremendously brilliant soul. And he lives in Southern California where I live, priceless
The cat was purring immediately, so loudly though handled upside down. Hi, hi!! His cat is fantastic, comes back to get cuddled again, several times, and a dog looking surprised in his bed, with his toes out. Nice place, nice bookshelves, nice garden.
I'm sure this has been said a million times, but John Cleese is awesome, and I would love to just spend time with him like this. How cool would that be.
If it weren't for three multi million dollar divorces this man would have a net worth much higher than the estimated 10 million. But despite this, look how simply and happily he lives. An object lesson for all of us.
I'm stunned! If this is really his home, and it's nice in all perspectives, he's greater than I even thought. Finally a guy who's not using a house to show of with in the first place. Thanks Go..., well Thanks whoever, for John Cleese!
That was very nice of John to allow this tour of his home, I've read his autobiography "so anyway" several times, and it's a very enjoyable book from a very decent and respectable man. It's just a shame I never had the opportunity to have him sign it for me.
Now, this is not only a star, this is a guy who has retained the real John Cleese. His home is average by any standard; he knows the value of success. Ever notice that the shittiest actors in the business live in the largest, gaudiest, most oppulent homes? For what they lack in talent, they compensate for in evirons. Who doesn't love this guy? "Ok, Frog, I think that is about it."
EXCUSE ME.........AT 77, AND MARRIED TO HIS 4TH WIFE......they live modestly because he's smart.................he makes and has millions. He has two children. GROWN UP, ACTRESSES AND WEALTHY. The Cleese couple live in a Santa Barbara house that the idiots with cameras........CAN'T SEE........they don't have his address so they leave him alone........................and John's happy in their modest home. No his ex-'s haven't taken most of his wealth.
keri caye plus he did a tour, the Alimony tour, to pay the divorce. They had to do the O2 reunion to pay for a legal bill none of them they had money for. Yes, his ex wife took most of his money
The strange thing is that John Cleese didn't even think to insult the French interviewer saying "your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberries"!! ....Ts....ts....ts....O tempora o mores!!!
100% free of PC crap! He’s one proud dad! Who would dare barge into his daughter’s room with a film crew and behave as if his daughter was just another family pet. She’s sooo cool (& smart) he could trust her even with that! A great relationship!
As irreverent as EVER! John, you naughty boy! (Am I lovin' those CATS) I am so glad you DON'T have a mansion. This is beautiful. All the best from us out here, John.
"Fierce Creatures" is an awesome comedy! I like it even better than "Fish called Wanda". In Poland it's called "A Lemur called Rollo" which is a better title in my opinion.
I believe the frog reference comes from his study of the human face. He did a series on that, if I'm not mistaken - the face, not the frog. Animal food trough water...
O.M.G. .... you see that wonderful wonderful shiny Grill ?????... i'm going insane...can' t stand this... this outstanding dimensions.... f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c....it must be a Grand Hall 8009 (not the "Titanium" i think..) . A gorgeous Outdoorkitchen isn't it ? .... Maybe its possible its a Weber Summit...but therefore i have to look some details - to difficult to examine it via internet, because the man on the right blocked the reflections with his head... ....i'm very delighted... thx v.m.

Have you thought of looking for that photo online and see who uploaded it?
It was just a publicity photo, but signed by Eric & John might be rare. Ta.
Very annoying - but it’s a better story somehow. And certainly better than the thief’s story.
Simply walks past the Emmy and shows off his modest bathroom. That's why I love John Cleese.
Oh, yes! I didn't notice that! He, he!
I guess Im kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Conner Nehemiah Definitely, I have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :)
@Conner Nehemiah thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :) I really appreciate it !
@Roy Uriah you are welcome =)
Humor, logic and intelligence
- and a cat aficionado.
John Cleese is one of my all-time favorite bipeds!
mnbvcxfgyui
And let's not soon forget his hatred for the traitor George W. Bush. Never forget Nine E Leaven MyPetGoat
I love John's sense of humour... he seems so humble and composed. Truly remarkable man... he really brightens the room with his charm and infectious wit.
Lol, his daughter with the sitcom moment hiding under the covers: "So, why don't you read the Odyssey now?"

Beautiful. So beautiful.
And don't forget that animals lovers are always good people.
This man is one of my hero's. No pomposity, simply simple and always humour-ful!

without too much PC either! :)
I always liked John Cleese, especially his humour ofcourse. Good to see how laid back and modest he is at home. Great man.
So he's basically a mad cat lady, love it :D
A mad cat lord, in fact
Loving the purr from that cat. :)
He could make a 15 minute short film with just the cat being petted and purring, and I'd buy it.
This is GREAT! John is so approachable. If he knew how much that meant to us.
All of his cats absolutely love him!
Indeed. He gave a fake smooch (7:08) to show his guest what he'd do if his cat was on it's perch. That cat hears that and instantly zooms up there to get a real smooch.
This man. I wish the world was more like him.
Imagine having John Cleese as a Dad
YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!! His first major line.
Or being his assistant. Now that's a job I'd like.
@@4seeableTV Why do you say that?
Imagine having John Cleese as a son :)
Great guy, after seeing his love for animals and books I like Mr. Cleese even more.
His laugh is so contagious. 😂
A brilliant Man, a comedic legend.
I want this man to live forever.
"Are you fully frog of partially frog"😂😂😂😂
"Why, Frog?"
"S. Frog, sir."
"Shut up!"
In this edition of Cribs, John Cleese shows us his collection of metallic and ceramic vertebrates.
The cat was purring immediately, so loudly though handled upside down. Hi, hi!! His cat is fantastic, comes back to get cuddled again, several times, and a dog looking surprised in his bed, with his toes out. Nice place, nice bookshelves, nice garden.
And here I always thought that Cleese lived up on Mount Olympus with the Gods.
This was so cool to see Cleese's house! Very kind of him!
Excellent post! What a great mind and lovely man John Cleese is!
how wondefull must it be to actually insult a man (frog) like this and still come out as a perfect gentleman. that's high class gentlemanship.
"Just to show you how highly intellectual I am and how utterly devastatingly brilliant my mind is" haha.
Met him once too and had my picture taken with him. He came to the place where i worked back in the 80's
I'm sure this has been said a million times, but John Cleese is awesome, and I would love to just spend time with him like this. How cool would that be.

Love the international superstar closet loll!!! John Cleese's humour obviously went straight over this guy's head, I thought he was going to cry lol!
This man, I admire him so much. A man with so much love for life and the greatest humour ever.
Have John's cats been properly confused?
Of course. He raised them.
Craig Browning I half expected to see a killer rabbit in the bushes.
Craig Browning And the beasts remain bewildered.
The company went bankrupt unfortunately.... Room for a new entrepreneur.
I'm stunned! If this is really his home, and it's nice in all perspectives, he's greater than I even thought. Finally a guy who's not using a house to show of with in the first place.
Thanks Go..., well Thanks whoever, for John Cleese!
Of course his cats have all been properly confused...John cheese raised them.
Just wonderful. Many thanks John Cleese for sharing your home with us!
I almost missed my daily watching of this.
That was very nice of John to allow this tour of his home, I've read his autobiography "so anyway" several times, and it's a very enjoyable book from a very decent and respectable man. It's just a shame I never had the opportunity to have him sign it for me.
Nice library!

Half his income is still a hell of a lot, I imagine.

keri caye Cleese lives actually between Chelsea in London and a house in the Royal Crescent in Bath, not really small and cheap places
keri caye plus he did a tour, the Alimony tour, to pay the divorce. They had to do the O2 reunion to pay for a legal bill none of them they had money for. Yes, his ex wife took most of his money
HE SHOULD LOOK AFTER THAT FAT GUT OF HIS.....LOVED FAWLTY TOWERS ABD PYTHON GROWING UP BUT JC IS IN POOR CONDITION FOR HIS AGE...
John and his cats is like me with my Monty Python complete box set!
I love his house, so cute with his cats, reminds me of me :P
Never take life too seriously! Good old John! 🕶
Always enlightening to hear stories from a roast beef!
Cleese! Glad to have you living here in the United States!
Delightful, insightful and quite entertaining!
no giant tv or twenty luxury cars...........just awesome,i love this man
What an absolute bloody legend.
he's so charming and down to earth, what a lovely man!
Imagine John Cleese doing a spoken word version of "Never Gonna Give You Up". Go on. Imagine it. And now, you'll never get it out of your head.
I would love a library like Cleese's. Love John Cleese.
In North America, California sunshine is identifiable. Nowhere else in America does the sun bake so wonderfully. Hope California is great once again.
A funny man with a funny laugh!
This guy doesn' get any cooler!
Wow. This just concludes my assertion that John Cleese is the greatest human being in existence.
I first fell in love, no homo :), with John Cleese when I was introduced to Fawlty Towers. I've been a solid fan ever since.
"An assistant pet" LOL
....and his daughter still in bed, that would so be me 😂
I enjoyed this so much...
The man, the legend.
John Cleese is just hilarious in every sense.
Man, his laugh is so awesome.
The strange thing is that John Cleese didn't even think to insult the French interviewer saying "your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberries"!! ....Ts....ts....ts....O tempora o mores!!!
He MIGHT have thought it....
Great guy, comedy god and has a lovely cat...whats not to like!
I have never seen cats so relaxed before.
love this guy, he is one of the best actors ever and hes so right about everything!
100% free of PC crap! He’s one proud dad! Who would dare barge into his daughter’s room with a film crew and behave as if his daughter was just another family pet. She’s sooo cool (& smart) he could trust her even with that! A great relationship!
I was amazed by how many times he called the French man 'frog'. I guess he never got over the French soldiers that taunted him and King Arthur.
I feel better now, after the YT algorithm made me this little present
This guy so real is so cool
I always figured him to be a big reader but dang!
He makes coffee the way I do! I knew there's a connection between us. His love of cats is disturbing though ;-)
“Are you going to read the Odyssey now??” 😂😂😂
Oh to inherit such wonderful humor.
Well... Makes me think if anyone would find it as entertaining watching me showing my home in a similar way.
John Cleese is amazing!!
Please John, give us a new tv-series. 6 Epoisodes with Basil as a resdient in an old peoples house!
hahaha it's sweet how his daughter makes him laugh :) legendrary :D
Great stuff! John Cleese has some of the coolest cats!
I don't know what to say... I respect this man so much. He hasn't really changed, has he? As nuts as ever.
It suddenly struck me how sorely missed John Cleese'll be when he passes away...
Love the kitties! …love Mr. Cleese too!
Thank you!
That cat loves him and trusts him.
Cleese handles his felines like a man, not like they’ll break. They love it as he ruffles them up a bit.
John, you are so awesome. Thanks for bringing laugh and intelligence to our lives.
- Hello, frog.
- S. Frog.
- Shut up!
_The Conquistador Coffee Campaign_
omg, the beard! so funny, gotta love you Cleese!!
As irreverent as EVER! John, you naughty boy!
(Am I lovin' those CATS) I am so glad you DON'T have a mansion. This is beautiful.
All the best from us out here, John.
"She makes me laugh more than any other biped!"..... My gosh I love you John Cleese!
for a guy of his, I would imagine, considerable financial ability, this is an extremely modest home.
one word, Alimony
Tim Cheng three ex wives
In SoCal that's easily a $1-$2 million dollar home.
I absolutely love this man
He gets more chilled as he gets older
"Fierce Creatures" is an awesome comedy! I like it even better than "Fish called Wanda". In Poland it's called "A Lemur called Rollo" which is a better title in my opinion.
Not that I wasn't already totally on board but...the cats!
8:09 cat purr
Man I love this guy.....
His kitties are so cute!!!!!
I need a compilation of the weird voices John makes sometimes when he breathes.
It seems to me that John liked you being there. That's a vinvin situation :D
I believe the frog reference comes from his study of the human face. He did a series on that, if I'm not mistaken - the face, not the frog.
Animal food trough water...
I could have watched John show his place for _hours_! Too short tour, but brilliant. (how about a Director's Cut version?)
O.M.G. .... you see that wonderful wonderful shiny Grill ?????... i'm going insane...can' t stand this... this outstanding dimensions.... f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c....it must be a Grand Hall 8009 (not the "Titanium" i think..) . Maybe its possible its a Weber Summit...but therefore i have to look some details - to difficult to examine it via internet, because the man on the right blocked the reflections with his head... ....i'm very delighted... thx v.m.
That's quite a collection of JG Bennett and Gurdjieff books at 8:06. . .
Any one else expected that fernchman coming back with 'S. Frog sir' whenever Cleesey calls him 'frog' ? :D
Gotta remember that Pelican poem. Might be usefull breaking it out in the pub tonight.....
