Javier Bardem’s portrayal of Anton in No Country for Old Men(2007) was brilliant. He had such a calm to his evil and was relentlessly terrifying and is one of the most memorable movie villains of all time! Deserved a definite mention!
100%! Antin still creeps me out to this day. He is the reason No Country hits as hard as it does. Javier Bardem was truly the embodiment of evil with his portrayal of Anton.
Naw, wasn't terrifying but its probably just me. Movies never scare me or creep me out. I'm not a fan of horror because they NEVER get me. I find it weird when horror movies actually scare people and thats because I don't understand it. I'm not saying I'm some big tough cowboy who isn't afraid of anything just not horror films. Plus I'm not a cowboy and I'm terrified of heights.
@@mikeawesome9212 No country for old men isn't a horror movie. Bardems character is just a cold blooded killer with seemingly no emotion and that can terrify some people because of how real his portrayal is.
I don't think he got a mention because he was a supporting actor in that film. His performance was so scene stealing that you would think he may be the lead actor but that was Brolin.

Viola Davis's performance in Fences is one of the best that I've ever seen. Denzel Washington was phenomenal as well.
15 years later, and I still think that Daniel Day Lewis in ‘There Will Be Blood’ is the best performance of the century so far.

I'm delighted that Octavia Spencer received more recognition as an actress following her brilliant turn in "The Help." I remember her playing small roles in "Spiderman" and "Big Momma's House", but playing Minny made her a star. 🌟

If Brendan Fraser does not win an Oscar for The Whale, then there is no justice in this world. He simply acted his a** off in that movie. It is heartbreaking, it is sickening sweet at times but is a complete masterpiece from front to back. I could not see any other actor being able to play Charlie like Mr. Fraser did.

@@awesome420ication yes I have and for the most part, they are all great but Brendan Fraser in The Whale was the one that hit the hardest for me. If you havent seen it, make sure you have kleenex. You are def gonna need it. It will break your heart but also make tou very glad that you watched it. It is a damn good movie.

Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight or Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood

2022 is the year of Brendan Fraser's long awaited Comeback. While "The Whale" itself has received lukewarm reviews, many have cited Brendan as easily the best part about it. Hopefully he'll be nominated for a slew of awards come Oscar season!
I could give two shits about the reviews. I thought The Whale was great, and Brendan Fraser deserves to win an Oscar for Best Actor.

Comedian and TV/film Jamie Foxx’s performance as Ray Charles Robinson was absolutely good in 2004.
‘Ray’ is still one of my most favorite Hollywood movies of all time.
Ellen Burstyn for ‘Requiem for a Dream’ in 2000, Monique for ‘Precious’ in 2009, and Tilda Swinton, for ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin’ in 2011.

And I've already commented on this video, but I just want to say how happy it makes me that you recognize Toni Colette's performance in Hereditary! I've only been able to make 2 other people watch that movie, but she's amazing in that role. The movie also has a way of exploring actual, emotional fears rather than just thrills and it makes the movie more than a horror film. It's really satisfying that somebody else feels the same way
Brendan Fraser in The Whale gives one of the greatest acting performances I have ever seen. Truly astounding work and moved me to tears multiple times.

The Master is arguably the best acted film of the decade, between Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman's co-leads (and the processing scene is already identified as the best dialogue in recent years), Amy Adams, and supporting roles from Jesse Plemons, Rami Malek and Laura Dern.
In the processing scene the acting is the best i have ever seen.....especially Joaquin Phoenix was on another level.....he should have won an Oscar for that scene alone.....DDL was awesome in Lincoln but still Joaquin was better.....

@@106andie i think the Whale might only get Best Makeup nom apart from Actor. I think people simply want Fraser to do well since they are childhood fans but truth is he has an upphill battle to fight. The fact that both Farrell and Butler stars in likely Best Picture contenders puts them ahead
I have to say, James Mcavoy's performance in Split and Glass was totally overlooked (he had already shown his range in "Filth", he was disturbing and you still wanted him find peace within himself).
Michael Shannon in Take Shelter is criminally overlooked everywhere.

Loved Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury! To be honest he nailed that role and I was blown away when I first watched Bohemian Rhapsody. I cannot care less on what the critics had to say about the film I absolutely loved everything about it. You may not have included it in this list I just wanted to bring it up.

Is anyone else still shocked over how great of a job Renee Zelwiger did playing Judy garland? Wow! I didn’t recognize her at first.. I’m not a big fan and super familiar with her face but…. I never saw it advertised or I might have gone and seen it back in the days when I went to the movies 😂
I actually thought her performance was overrated. It was a huge mistake to have her sing. Judy had the most powerful voice with so much pain and anguish in every note. Even at the end of her life when she was losing her voice and yet Renee sounds like a whisper. Don’t believe me? Watch Marion Coitliard In Le Vie En Rose. She played Edith Piaf who was the French Equivalent of Judy Garland. An amazing, superstar with a voice of an Angel but like Garland a tormented addict with demons. Marion won an Oscar and every other award on the planet and she was barely out of her 20’s and the performance is one of the most amazing things you’ll ever see. Heart wrenching.
Renee was good but I still felt like I was looking at Renee Zellweger and it was a bit superficial. Marion BECAME Edith before your very eyes from the time she was young to an old lady. I think it was around 2008.

@@kimberlyel82 Glad you asked. I was an actor for a long time and film student so I know my stuff 🤷🏼♀️ As a life long Elvis fan. I had my reservations when I saw Austin was cast but he proved me wrong. I think he had just the right balance of sensuality and charm while maintaining Elvis’s humbleness and sense of humor. He was great…. They could have picked someone else and focused on the last two years of his life and Austin wouldn’t have worked for that but for this? Perfect Choice. 👍🏻
