Black phone for sure! The plot was a breath of fresh air and the kids (Gwendoline especially) acted their SOCKS OFF. Also I don't think Ethan Hawke will not sound like the grabber to me moving forward for a hot minute because that voice is too unique 😅 He's on fire lately, though!
Smile is my favorite that i've seen so far. The Black Phone is great too, but I'm really starting to get tired of this trend that every movie in every genre HAS to have all these catchy quips and comic relief and plucky characters. It feels like Marvel is just infecting the entire film industry. It's actually refreshing to have something that's serious and bleak nearly 100% of the way through.
All the kids in this movie deserve awards, idk where they found them, but you know the acting and writing is good when you feel so deeply for characters like Robin despite him having very little actual screen time. I don't necessarily think this movie should be called a "horror" but it's a fantastic thriller. Hawke did wonderfully as the Grabber, and I loved the way the movie was shot, filmed, etc.
@@cflournoy1529 I know!! I was so heartbroken about Robin; they did a great job of giving us a good overview of their relationship and making us get attached in such little time. But I do think Robin's death was symbolically necessary. I think it represented the death of the innocent part of Finn's childhood, but also forced him to stand up for himself because Robin literally can't anymore.
Ur the first reactors to realise finney was psychic also. He just has visions different to his sister, which is why he was able to talk to the grabbers victims. Great reaction 😊

The father been depressed and fear Gwen may make the same hence why he try to abxse her out to. Anyways, the mother's power separated to her children- Fin and Gwen with Gwen having visions/seeing dead people and Fin talking to them
Minor spoilers; Under another reaction video I found this thought. Gwen's job wasn't to find Finney. It was to find the bodies of the victims. It was Finney's job to ensure he was the last one.
Joe Hill took after his father, Richard Bachman, and their materials have a lot of similarities. I love their tribute to It with Gwen in the Yellow Georgie raincoat. Also, they filmed this in my home state of NC, lol 😂
I was losing my mind this whole reaction because definitely gotta confirm the writers etc at least before filming and posting something. bc a big reason the author changed his last name was to get some distance from stephen king and not be mentioned in the same sentence as him all the time, to gain merit on his own. so I hope he never sees this tbh lmao, this is pretty harsh
commenting two years later is insane but i just somehow realized that finn uses the same move that robin used while fighting that boy in the beginning to kill the grabber
I love the depth they gave the father with such little screen time. The few scenes he had you could tell he was a complicated onion and probably wasn't always that way but became that way after his wife's suicide. Also Finn's arm is mint *neck snap* gave me so much life, lool. The order of kid's on the phone there was perfection. Lastly, did anyone notice the way Finn killed the Grabber was the same position Robin had Moose in during their fight. The only difference is Finn was sitting instead of standing.
that actor has a fantastic range too. The only other thing i've seen him in was Hannibal, but the two characters are MILES apart. (he plays a very timid and kind mentally disabled man in Hannibal)
This movie is so good, I think one of the best parts is how smart Finn is, actually all the kids, Finn's first thought upon waking up after being kidnapped was to stay calm and find a way out, he only let himself feel it when he thought he was out of options. And not only did he use EVERYTHING the other kids showed him, but ended up killing him too. Also the best scene is when he snaps the neck and Bruce goes, "Finn's arm is Mint." Then he dies. XD I like to imagine all the other kids were standing there watching Finn beat up the grabber and cheering him on, we just couldn't see them.
So my mom had a really good theory about the mother in the movie she said that the mom, while also having the same gift as the daughter, might have also had schizophrenia that's why they said the voices made her do bad things.
I think what makes this movie so great is the subtleties in the writing. It doesn't feel like it's shoving information down your throat to ensure you understand the subtext. Like they never explicitly say that Finn also has a gift like his mom which is why he can see the dead kids, except for a quick throwaway line by Bruce about how "it rang but we couldn't hear it" and the dad's "Same goes for you" after the belt scene. And the reason Gwen only saw the house where the bodies were buried was because she was able to connect to the dead kids too. And I really liked that none of the dead kids motivations (with maybe the exception of Robin) was to save Finn, but instead to make sure the Grabber was caught. I just felt like that was a more believable motivation than benevolent dead teenagers. And none of the kids escape routes worked solo until Finn put them all together. Also, the nods throughout the movie to different serial killers (Jeffrey Dahmer had a victim escape, Ted Bundy used ruses to lure victims, John Wayne Gacy literally dressed up like a clown and murdered young boys, even the dog Samson could be a reference to the Son of Sam killer).
Even one of the victims, Billy the Paperboy, was likely a nod to an actual missing person's case: Johnny Gosch was a paperboy who went missing while on his route with his dog, and though his dog was found, his disappearance was never solved.
When Finney kills The Grabber he use the same method Robin used when he was beating the bully in the schoolyard. And in the movie this makes you think that Finney learned that after watching his friend doing it. Now, in the short story Robin doesn't exist, but here how the scene is written: "He sat up, meant to club Albert with the receiver again, *but then his hands did something else instead* . He put the wire around the fat man's throat and pulled tight, crossing his wrists behind Al's neck." Almost like Finney didnt expect himself to choke The Grabber the way he did, and this made me think of another possibility regarding the movie. You can see that some of the ghosts are capable of moving things like the water bottle on the ground, so what if when Finney took the phone it was actually Robin's hands that took control of Finney's and wrap the wire around him both choking The Grabber to death?
Loved this movie! Finn was such an amazing main character! Most horror movies have moronic protagonists, but this kid was so resourceful and became an absolute little badass! His development was honestly incredible. New favorite of mine for sure!
I watched this movie when it came out in cinema for my dads birthday and I’ve loved it ever since. All the kids acting was beyond fantastic and made me very emotional. I really hope you guys liked it a lot. I’ve been secretly hoping you’d watch it and here we are!! ☺️
This movie was so enjoyable and made well. You’re right, the kid actors especially Gwen and Finn, we’re played brilliantly. Very dark concepts throughout the movie which are real. For me the best horror movie this year is ‘The Invitation’. The actor that played the grabber’s brother was also in the ‘Sinister’ movie. He played the police officer helping Ethan Hawke with research. Thank you again! Enjoyed this with you ! 😊
Idk if anyone has said this before but I'm pretty sure the kids have something similar to if not the same thing as the "Shine" with the kids in Stephen Kings story's. Like the kids in IT, The Dark Tower, etc.
Great movie. The kids were all amazing actors and it was interesting to see Ethan Hawke in this kind of role. Idk if you guys have seen The Lovely Bones but this movie reminded me of it in a way. Especially with the supernatural elements. 🖤
I can see that although the Lovely Bones to me had a more sad and family oriented feel while this one in my opinion holds more rewatch feels that’s just my take but both were done well
@@tawneerei4527 Oh I definitely agree. Both deal with dark topics but The Lovely Bones brings up those emotions more while The Black Phone has you on edge because you don't know the "outcome." Although both have similar moments.
The movie at 10:42 is The Tingler (1959) starring Vincent Price, it's an iconic "schlocky" B horror movie by William Castle, who also directed the originals of "Thirteen Ghosts", "House on Haunted Hill", and "The Old Dark House". He created and/or solidified A LOT of horror tropes that are still absolutely everywhere in film.
me too, except it brought back bad memories of my family where beatings were a regular thing, my parents had 5 holes drilled in their paddle, 1 for each of us. said it gave it less wind resistance, lining up 1 after another.. i was a kid in the mid 80s when it was a-ok to beat your kids, just remember to wear long sleeve shirts n no shorts, and remember, you were clumsy and fell. one thing i identified with is the fact that no matter how many or hard your beaten, you still love them. so to me this movie was a little close to home as my little sister was abducted, this was during times when people were realizing anyone could be a child killer. the local news, sheriff etc came out and it was so awful, but luckily she was let go the next day. she said they just pushed her out of their car. she was like 5 and i was 9. cops had no clue. then all the local kids were fingerprinted and i was told later it was to make identifying remains easier. i dearly love my sis, and were very close, she can be a handful, very headstrong (like gwen) its a lil joke between us that they didnt know what they were in for when they took her and just wanted her away from them, lol. i love you bre.
@@joshfacio9379 oh gosh... I'm sorry you went through that. My mom got the belt too, so definitely relatable. Your sister sounds really sweet 🧡 Bless her soul
This movie creeped me out bigtime and made me so scared the whole time. Especially being a mother. Also it's not confirmed why the Grabber is broken. Whether it was due to his own child abuse OR if he had a normal childhood & still ended up broken (Which is even scarier, when you think about it). It's not confirmed because like Ethan Hawke said himself, "because it doesn't matter why he's broken, what matters is he IS broken." The movie shows the Grabber was a sick paedophile that murders his victims after they play his "naughty boy" game. They made a few subtle signs to show what he was, hence why he was shirtless, & why one victim mentions the grabbers "favourite" part of naughty boy etc. Also noticed that the Grabber did, in fact pick certain types of kids. The Grabber only picks boys and notice how they all have long hair, that he can play with.😖
12:49 That's *exactly* what happened. Gwen's mom was psychic, too. But she committed suicide because she thought she was crazy. The voices drove her to suicide, so when Gwen started dreaming things like that, her dad was determined not to let his daughter suffer the same fate, even if he had to beat her to make her stop dreaming.
Just watched this recently its the kind of horror that is twice as horrific because it actually happens in reality which is messed up but the kids in that movie did an amazing job acting
Im not sure if you guys figured it out yet but its believed that finny has the ability to speak with the dead, just as his sister has the ability to predict things with her dream. Both traits they inherited from their mother im sure. I loved the reaction guys!
right. and they both were able to see the dead, finney when he saw the kid floating on his back, and gwen on her bike being shown the address. this movie is beyond awesome, joe hill is fast becoming my fav writers, N0S482 was good too.
This is a great movie . I love the different masks . The grabber reveals himself with each . Both kids inherited some aspect of their mother’s gift . The sister ‘s dreams… and his contact with the dead kids. This is a great film and I consider a “New Classic”.
Dude I've been wanting for you guys to watch this yayy. This movie put me through so many different emotions and it was so intense. Keep up the reactions. I hope you guys are healthy and doing well
That little sister is amazing! I used to try and protect my younger brother and my older sister from bullies in school. Not so much physically, but I was never scared to get up into the mean kids' faces and tell them off 😂, much to the teachers surprise because I was a quiet kid.
This movie stuck with me for days. So good. Great acting. Great set up. Fantastic payoff. Rewatching it with the watch along here and it brought it all back for me.
This is one of craziest horror films and also one of the saddest, as a bullied teen in Colorado 1978 gets kidnapped by a child killer while seeking help from otherworldly visitors that will aid him in his fight against the psychopath. Will he make it!? Let's find out. Based on the story of the same name.
Joe Hill wrote the black phone book. He is Stephen King's son. I love Stephen King. My mom and my oldest daughter went to see this movie in the theater.
I love this movie and your reaction must be the best one i watched mostly because you did understand where the father's rage/fear came from. All the actors in this movie did a great job and is def one of my favourite movies of this year.
As someone who is almost the exact same age as the kids (slightly closer to Gwen than Finney) you have no idea how accurate this movie is to the time. Even the stuff you questioned… like would the town be so naive. The answer is “yes”, absolutely. I don’t know who’s responsible for it… King, the screenplay writer, the director, I don’t know. But this is one of the best movies ever as far as the “background”, which for those of us who know what it should be like, is extremely effective for drawing us in. It makes it so realistic. It’s an incredible movie.
this is literally my fav movie it’s so good !!! i saw someone say that the dead boys were showing gwen were they were burried because they knew that she would find them and because they (the dead boys) also knew that finney was going to escape with all the clues they gave him to make it out
I love the reverse and how they filmed it. He wasn't drinking when he was beating his daughter with the belt but as y'all see he was drinking when she wanted his help to find him and he decided to help her.
Wow, great movie...great reaction guys!!....fantastic ending...you really feel so much satisfaction for Finney at the end, finally getting the confidence & power, so great. I really like Ethan Hawke as an actor..(Training Day) one of my favorites , but he really creeped me out in this one.
Not sure if I misunderstood you but this wasn't based a short story written by Stephen King. This was written by his son, Joe Hill. You can clearly see his style is super similar to his dad's and while I was watching it in the movie theater it screamed "STEPHEN KING!" to me and I was confused when I saw Joe Hill but then it makes sense when I realized it was his son. And for how accurate is to the book, it's pretty spot on but they add the visions from her sister (once you think about it they really don't add anything to the movie besides the family drama haha, Finn would have still escaped), Ethan Hawke's is supposed to be a big fat man, the story ends with Finn putting the phone on the grabber's ear and I don't remember if the brother is there but overall almost every line is direct from the book. All the additions they made well pretty well done to make the story longer and still made the short story justice
Gwen was an all-star, and Finn was amazing, all the actors were and you're right, truly great kid actors are sometimes hard to find. I'm still cringing from No Good Deeds. A great movie, but that little girl kept it from being a rewatch. Her visions were cool, and how she controlled it at the end to find the house, and what an epic sibling relationship. Most little sisters wouldn't go tackling and beating on guys, they'd tell someone or watch shouting. And Ethan Hawke 👏 creepy bastard award right there lol. I love how he went from being nervous about being in Sinister because he didn't want to be scared, or cursed hahaha to starring in a horror as the horror itself. And hey, this is terrifying. I only have my niece but the thought of her being gone makes me coma sick. It's frightening. King, if nothing else towards utterly creeped out can really humanize every aspect. The kids beating on each other, been there, abusive parents wasn't sensationalized, the ghosts were spooky but unlike other helpful ghost movies I've seen I liked it that they weren't "haunts" but "helps". Recommendation: The Haunting in Connecticut 2009 Case 39 2009 The hills have eyes 2006
Did someone think the grabber might have multi-personality disorder? Notices how his voice pitch changes and how he contradicts himself, first saying that he should kill the kid because he scratched him, then he says to him that he would never do something he wouldn't like, despite already have done it when he took him against his will. Gwen's father said that her mother had the same abilities as her, but instead of gwen, at some point she started to hearing things and said they were voices telling her to do stuff, so many people think the grabber also somehow possesses similar power to gwen and finney, but he probably ended up like gwen's mother. From what psychiatrists said, the multi-personality disorder comes from child abuse, and we are not talking about just hitting a child sometimes, but they said actually real physical torture. And the grabber says that he had been there in that room when the black phone stopped working. My theory is that he was probably held captive in that basement by his parents (the basement maybe at that time it was just another room in the house) and keep being tortured, then the mind to protect himself split and create other personalities. Because the grabber says that he could hear the phone ringing but he was unable to hear anybody from the other side, I believe those voices people talking about were just the other personalities (and not the consequence of a supernatural power), talking to him, and maybe one of them, a vengeful and angry personality, is the one that convinced him to kidnap other children and hurt them recreating some parts of what his parents did to him, including the "naughty boy" game. Another proof is just after the kidnapping when he calls finney "johnny" in a mocking tone, so the grabber already knows finney's full name is john finney. But in the other scene when he bring him breakfast the grabber looks completely unsure and ask what his name is, throws the newspaper at him making him understand that he just read his name and in a very angry tone he calls him "finney", he doesn't use his first name anymore.
I’ve been waiting for this reaction and I absolutely love your reaction! I love this movie so much, I’ve seen 5 times in theaters and 30 or so times overall. I made a fanpage for this movie a week before it came out and I’ve been noticed by this whole cast and even followed by a couple I love the cast sm with all my heart ❤
So, there are a few really stellar King novel adaptations, but most of thr amazing King movies are based on his short stories, simply because it's nearly impossible to include the world and character building and internal monologues that are his trademark. He's had some dud books, for sure, but who wouldn't after 50 years of writing? So, basically, don't judge his books (novels) by their movies. 😊
I had been wanting to watch this film for a while and when I saw you posted a reaction, I finally watched it before watching your reaction. Your reactions are always so enjoyable. I really loved this film! The performances from the lead kids and Ethan Hawke were stellar! I was surprised by the emotional weight of the themes, as simple and straight forward as the story was. I also really loved how the music and cinematography gave the film a vintage authentic feel of the time period it’s set in.
Keep the horror movie marathon going on!! Hehe, if you need some help, here are some good recommendations: One Hour Photo (has Robin Williams in a very different role) Hell House LLC REC Orphan: First Kill (and Orphan) Midnight Mass by Mike Flanagan Suspiria
Stephen King's son, Joe Hill, wrote this story and their literary universes are connected through some of their books. The written version is not as clear on this point but you could say Finney shines a little bit and his sister a lot more (not as much as Danny Torrance but still enough). Joe has his own style but his dad's influence is often there.
I love how the Director is able to explain plot details through the characters without making it seem obvious (Christopher Nolan). Like when the Grabber explains how he sound proofed the room himself so no one upstairs can hear what's happening downstairs. That's a key piece of information without which the entire story line of Finn's escape doesn't work. Also, Bruce explains that the other boys couldn't hear the phone ringing, only Finn and the Grabber could hear it. That's a very important piece of information as well.
This movie was so good. I love how certain details follow through in the story. Like he finds all that meat in the freezer, which he remembers to bring out for the dog to distract it. I think the only thing I don't like is how... optimistic it was between the kids and the father at the end. But all the kids in this movie were great. Normally I get so irritated with kids in movies, but here they were all realistic and well-acted and not self-aware and too smart but also not dumb.
Ok was so fun to see y’all react to this one 👏🏻 I absolutely despise horror movies because they scare me and make me paranoid 😅 but my step dad showed me this because I have kids and he said he wanted me to see the type of stuff that’s possible out there. I got soo sucked into this movie and loved it! It was done sooo well especially the phone call towards the end for the killer that just brought it all together and when he came out of the house across the street that surprised me 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 amazing movie and I see it as more of a thriller than a horror movie just with some jump scares
One of his short stories that always creeped me out was Apt Pupil. I didn't like the ending of the movie but the movie is still worth watching (Stephen King, even though The Black Phone is not his).
11:22 Not gonna lie, I'm pretty unfazed when it comes to most things (horror movies, amusement park rides, nurses sticking needles into my arm when I go the hospital, etc) but that whole entire scene made me very unconfortable. I had to look away a few times. The kids in this movie were PHENOMENAL! Mad props especially to that actress playing the boy's sister. I don't know who she is but she is GOING PLACES!
10:06 I can’t stop laughing. The part where he paused in the middle of the sentence gives a whole new meaning to the sentence. “There’s times you gotta be careful, now that there is a RAMPANT CHILD”.
The Black Phone also needs a prequel (so we can find out how the kids got kidnapped and killed by the hand of The Grabber) and a sequel too. I hope they can also bring back Ethan Hawke’s the Grabber (even though he was killed though. Is there another way to bring him back alive?) also, I hope Mason Thames, Maddy McGraw and Miguel comes back too. We need to figure out how some of the kids got kidnapped and killed by the hand of the Grabber. And will Gwen and Finn’s father die in that movie? Would Gwen sacrifice herself to save her brother? Will Finn and Donna make out 💋❤? I hope Scott Derrickson (who also directed Marvel Studios’ Doctor Stranger) direct and write the sequel to the Black Phone. And also, I hope Universal Pictures 🌎 and Blumhouse come back to distribute it too.
I don't know maybe someone told that already, but I kind of have an assumption. The way the boy with a long wavy hair was dragged away after we see the sister wake up and as we see him talking into the wall in the room with Finney and going into the Grabber's house at the same time, but in sister's dream - I thought what if Finney was able to heat these ghosts through his sister? I mean through her dreams, so whenever she dreams at that time Finney gets a call. If not I still think they're connected in some way cause of that scene with a wavy hair blond boy
The dad, Jeremy Davies, tends to get typecast, (you can see him in episodes of Lost & Hannibal,) but I loved his role in this film because it broke type for him. I recommend checking him out in Million Dollar Hotel (2000) & one of my all-time favorite films Ravenous (1999.)
back in the 80s majority the people of the that went missing but like specially kids that went missing. They still didn’t care and still didn’t continue. Still kind of weren’t keeping careful so there’s a majority of kids that are still missing. Still let us day probably and we’re never found, the 80s were quite the fucked up place were kids who would even get go missing and parents still didn’t weren’t being careful with the children. Children will trust anything and are easy easy to be prayed upon.
This movie I believe was made by the Sinister creators... Sinister was my favorite horror film for a very long time. And for good reason. And this film has the same quality
You missed it… “Oh, he’s from Insidious”. Then the brother comes along… “He’s from It!” Well, Hawk isn’t from Insidious, but…. BOTH of them are from Sinister. The music is also similarly creepy. And check out the late scenes. She’s dressed like Goergie from It. The tree is like it’s from The Conjuring. This is an homage to a whole bunch of movies. Really cool film. And btw, you asked about parents letting their kids out alone in this environment? Welcome to the late 1970s and early 1980s. We had a killer clown scare around that time. I told my mom I was going outside around 9AM. I was told to be home by dinner. LOL. No joke. And this wasn’t out of the ordinary. Every family was like this.
this movie gave me the feeling of dread very few movies gave me, and the last I can think of was Get Out, like this helplessness that really only a miracle could give us a good ending
Joe, King's son wrote this... It's in the 20th Century Ghosts, a book of short stories. BTW, it was changed from a clown to a magician... Cause no one puts Pennywise in a corner. Great reaction.
I loved this concept in a Stephen King movie! Like who would have ever thought: what if this evil creepy, horrible dude kept kids in the basement, murdered them, buried them and then their ghosts helped one escape? Like how does one think of this! It was so well done!! I wish it could've been like a concept for a show so there could be more content cuz the actors of Gwen and Finn were absolutely amazing!!
Remember how when the Grabber kidnapped Finney, he said he should snap his neck for injuring his arm? Well, in the end, that's how Finney killed him. Talk about poetic justice.
I just got the chance to watch your reactions to this one. I been hoping that you would do it! I watched it at h one a couple of months ago and went in pretty blind not knowing much. OMG....it blew me away at how inventive storywise it was. I grew up in the 60's and 70's and it just felt very true to the times in the vibe and look of everything. I was 16 in '78. I personally only had trouble with the scene in the kitchen w/Gwennie. I actually had to pause that moment as it gave me flashbacks to what I went through from my Father at times growing up. I very much knew her deep pain.😢😔 It took me about 10 mins of controlled breathing before I could go back to the rest of the movie. Onward, back in the 70's it was in many ways a much more innocent time, and you rarely heard of Serial killers and pedophiles. There wasn't Amber Alerts back then. The kids in this movie, esp. the actors who played Finn and Gwen were great. Glad y'all liked it so much. And I loved your jump scare there James lol. 👻😁🎥

XD
I like to imagine all the other kids were standing there watching Finn beat up the grabber and cheering him on, we just couldn't see them.
So my mom had a really good theory about the mother in the movie she said that the mom, while also having the same gift as the daughter, might have also had schizophrenia that's why they said the voices made her do bad things.
The kid actors did such a phenomenal job in this movie the whole cast did especially Ethan Hawke they all deserve an Oscar!
@@JennyAnn Ooh I didn't know that one!
When Finney kills The Grabber he use the same method Robin used when he was beating the bully in the schoolyard. And in the movie this makes you think that Finney learned that after watching his friend doing it.
Now, in the short story Robin doesn't exist, but here how the scene is written:
"He sat up, meant to club Albert with the receiver again, *but then his hands did something else instead* . He put the wire around the fat man's throat and pulled tight, crossing his wrists behind Al's neck."
Almost like Finney didnt expect himself to choke The Grabber the way he did, and this made me think of another possibility regarding the movie.
On a side note? Ethan Hawke was in Sinister and Max, the coked up brother of ''The grabber?''' He's the young cop in Sinister as well.
He also played the older version of Eddie in It Chapter Two.
The Black Phone does deserve an Oscar win for the children and Ethan Hawke
This was written by Stephen Kings son I believe, but they do have similar writing styles and also write together sometimes.
@Big Daddy Right. I think I first saw him in Gattaca when we had to watch it in high school. It's cool to see him try something different.
@@katwebbxo agreed 👌🏻
The movie at 10:42 is The Tingler (1959) starring Vincent Price, it's an iconic "schlocky" B horror movie by William Castle, who also directed the originals of "Thirteen Ghosts", "House on Haunted Hill", and "The Old Dark House". He created and/or solidified A LOT of horror tropes that are still absolutely everywhere in film.
The part with the sister getting hit with the belt really got to me in theaters, I got choked up. That girl is amazing for a young actress, damn
me too, except it brought back bad memories of my family where beatings were a regular thing, my parents had 5 holes drilled in their paddle, 1 for each of us. said it gave it less wind resistance, lining up 1 after another.. i was a kid in the mid 80s when it was a-ok to beat your kids, just remember to wear long sleeve shirts n no shorts, and remember, you were clumsy and fell.
one thing i identified with is the fact that no matter how many or hard your beaten, you still love them. so to me this movie was a little close to home as my little sister was abducted, this was during times when people were realizing anyone could be a child killer. the local news, sheriff etc came out and it was so awful, but luckily she was let go the next day. she said they just pushed her out of their car. she was like 5 and i was 9. cops had no clue. then all the local kids were fingerprinted and i was told later it was to make identifying remains easier.
i dearly love my sis, and were very close, she can be a handful, very headstrong (like gwen) its a lil joke between us that they didnt know what they were in for when they took her and just wanted her away from them, lol.
i love you bre.
It's not confirmed because like Ethan Hawke said himself, "because it doesn't matter why he's broken, what matters is he IS broken."
The movie shows the Grabber was a sick paedophile that murders his victims after they play his "naughty boy" game. They made a few subtle signs to show what he was, hence why he was shirtless, & why one victim mentions the grabbers "favourite" part of naughty boy etc.
Also noticed that the Grabber did, in fact pick certain types of kids. The Grabber only picks boys and notice how they all have long hair, that he can play with.😖
Such a surprise! Those kids deserve oscars!
Yeah for sure
Im not sure if you guys figured it out yet but its believed that finny has the ability to speak with the dead, just as his sister has the ability to predict things with her dream. Both traits they inherited from their mother im sure. I loved the reaction guys!
right. and they both were able to see the dead, finney when he saw the kid floating on his back, and gwen on her bike being shown the address. this movie is beyond awesome, joe hill is fast becoming my fav writers, N0S482 was good too.
Yeah! Overall, just a great film
The fact that they help him out means he’s not the worst dad ….
Give it about 36 seconds 😳😡
I have seen worse. How about not letting your child eat and also beating them to death.
i love the way james says what 34:17
I think this movie breaks the record for, "what?" Or "wait what?", said by James.
Ok… come on lol
I love this movie and your reaction must be the best one i watched mostly because you did understand where the father's rage/fear came from. All the actors in this movie did a great job and is def one of my favourite movies of this year.
It was so nuanced and incredible
@@whitenoisereacts yep. so human.
It’s an incredible movie.
this is literally my fav movie it’s so good !!!
i saw someone say that the dead boys were showing gwen were they were burried because they knew that she would find them and because they (the dead boys) also knew that finney was going to escape with all the clues they gave him to make it out
Good thing you threw "literally" in there, otherwise no one would've believed you.
@@Saranda4787 ok
I’M CRYING,THE WHOLE ASS MOVIE MADE ME CRY, I LOVE IT WAY TO MUCH, I WATCHED TBP AT LEAST 2 TIMES EACH DAY SINCE IT CAME OUT IT’S BECOMING A PROBLEM

That’s awesome! This movie and the actors definitely deserve awards it was fantastic 👏🏻❤️
Such a fantastic movie. Ethan Hawke's performance is absolutely bone chilling and I love the use of the changing masks, very unexpected and unique.
Fun fact : The dad of Gwen and Finny plays Baldur in God of War.
Thanks so much
Fun fact: This movie was written by Owen King, one of Stephen King’s kids.
i had never actually watched this, I’m glad I watched it from your reaction lol now I will watch it like it deserves. it was so good!
The black and white movie with the bathtub full of blood is 1959's The Tingler, and oh boy do I recommend that hidden gem
I had to skip the scene when Finn tried to scape for the first time, it makes me feel awfully anxious 😭

Grew up seeing Ethan hawke in training day and to see him take on this role is just exceptional he did great with this film
Also, Bruce explains that the other
boys couldn't hear the phone ringing, only Finn and the Grabber could hear it. That's a very important piece of information as well.
Maddy McGraw cussing at Jesus caught me off guard
55:05 I was like, "Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh! My boy's got that confidence now!" 😆😆
This movie was so good.
I highly recommend watching Barbarian(2022) when it's available. It's quite unique and really well filmed, it has a lot of style. I loved it!
Ethan Hawke was in Sinister
Ok was so fun to see y’all react to this one 👏🏻 I absolutely despise horror movies because they scare me and make me paranoid 😅 but my step dad showed me this because I have kids and he said he wanted me to see the type of stuff that’s possible out there. I got soo sucked into this movie and loved it! It was done sooo well especially the phone call towards the end for the killer that just brought it all together and when he came out of the house across the street that surprised me 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 amazing movie and I see it as more of a thriller than a horror movie just with some jump scares
lt'd be nice to further explore the kids' powers in a sequel or spin off. l also want Theodora from Hill House to explore hers too 🙂
Yeah but who would the villain be in a sequel lol
@@svnsetsomnia8280 there are always villains if you are creative and have an idea. There can always be ghosts too
One of his short stories that always creeped me out was Apt Pupil.
Nice reaction mate.
The movie is based on a Joe Hill book which is Stephen King’s son. Also the previous movie of Ethan Hawke was Sinister! Love your reactions!
YWAaasssas LETSS GOOOOOOOOOOO THIS MOVIE IS SO UNDERRATED
This is actually based on a Joe Hill (Stephen King's son) story. There is a definite similarity between father and sons work though 😀
Yesss I’m so excited for this!!
Thanks for the reaction super cool!
The dad, Jeremy Davies, tends to get typecast, (you can see him in episodes of Lost & Hannibal,) but I loved his role in this film because it broke type for him. I recommend checking him out in Million Dollar Hotel (2000) & one of my all-time favorite films Ravenous (1999.)
i was crying throughout the whole movie it’s so sad
back in the 80s majority the people of the that went missing but like specially kids that went missing.
This might be my favourite horror movie. It's just so good
Your reaction is mint !
I watched this movie over the weekend & really liked it. It was better than I thought it was going to be.
The movie that Finn is watching is 1959's The Tingler.
this movie gave me the feeling of dread very few movies gave me, and the last I can think of was Get Out, like this helplessness that really only a miracle could give us a good ending
Ethan Hawke was in Sinister not Insidious. haha I get those two names mixed up too.
This movie was also Based on the killer, John Wayne Gacy also know as the killer clown

It's not a Stephen King movie, although there is a connection. The short story that this is an adaptation of was written by Joe Hill, who is SK's son.
I hope Mason and Maddy both do more more in the future
