Wow this short vid was easy to follow no waste of time. My grip jobs have always turned out crappy. I think my mistake has been cutting from the top. I'm going to use this method the next time
Just cut mine from the top yesterday. Didn't come out looking as good as what this guy just did. Good point about bending the tape up along the edges after you file it. I figured that would be a good idea. I was going to cut it from underneath, but, it seemed to not be working that well, so, I cut it from the top instead. Went through two razor blades doing it that way. Dulled the edges of them down quickly.

@@GeezerSkateCo I will one day! When game devs focus on game play over store purchases for players to dress up their characters lol. One reason that pushed me back to my skateboard, haven't skated in 15 years and back on my board finally after my 31st bday.
Very cool! Glad you found the video informative! Practice makes perfect they say, though honestly, I'm not as good as Nate from the Point (the grip-taper in this video) and still have jagged cuts from time to time
Good stuff guys, yeah I gotta hold that blade a little more level I guess. I would sand down Mob a touch as well, way too grippy for me but that's how I like it, much prefer Jessup or similar.
@@GeezerSkateCo Yeah give it a go, right inbetween. I ride old school shapes so not always easy to find in the right measurement when given out free so just have to use what is available.
No - the way I usually do it is to put on the grip tape first and then push the bolts from the bottom of the deck through the grip tape so it makes a hole that you can then put the bolts through the top. Hope that helps!
can you put clear grip tape over old grip tape? I painted my board over the grip that and I’m wondering if I should put clear grip over my painted grip.
Nice man - that's a great idea to use a blade with a handle. Nate from Geezer and I (Josh) are not great at this kind of stuff, so it was cool to have Nate from The Point Skate Shop on our channel to show us how they get the job done at their shop.
Haha, that is the best way to do a tutorial video, to let someone else do it for you! :-P I will copy that move! :-P Really good instruction. I have gripped many many decks, but for some reason I have never used a razor blade, I almost always use a carpe knife. The razor blade is probably a better choice but I prefer to have a bit more to hold on to. I use both Jessup and Mob (not at the same time though lol) and they both grip fine, but for some reason Mob sometimes peel off easier. Both good grips tho. Thanks Geezers skate, and Nate! :-)
Other people know a lot more than us but we love it and we like featuring guests so we thought this was cool. Haha yep copy that move and get someone else to do a tutorial for your video!! I wonder why mob peels off easier than jessup.

Geezer Skate Co. when i cut it i had bad jaggies, and some of the grip tape was rolling over the edge. The next time i scraped the edge more on the top, and lifted the edges before cutting. It was night and day better.

That cut underneath thing makes so much sense and we were cutting from the top as well. The pros always make it look easy - even grip taping a board!

He shows the perfect amount of top ply for me. Perfect!
whoa damn
you can just TELL he's been doing this a long time
Yes he has and a lot!
you can also TELL his breath smells like PBR and meth
thanks this was blunt and helpful
Awesome! Glad this video helped you. Let us know if there are other topics you'd like to learn more about.
Awesome, just what I needed thank you guys!
Cool, learned a few tricks from this, mainly the scoring the board on the top, not the side.
That's awesome - we learned things while creating this video and will have more tutorials in the months ahead - thanks for watching!
You sir are an artist.
Thank you - we are big fans of Nate from the Point - he’s the one applying this grip tape like the pro he is!
I knew some kid named Tsquared who said he would have me "fraggin like a pro" the title reminded me of that lol. Cheers and Semper Fi dudes

do i need to cut out the screws? they were cut out on the grip tape i had before this, and that was put on by someone at a skate shop

🀄Right on dude! I like to use the 25mm Olfa blade to cut my grip - it provides a lot more safety and a handle for the blade. Great tips man!🃏♠ 🏆

Friggin pro. I love gripping boards lol.
It’s so relaxing, isn’t? I could grip a board all day long!
The cutting definitely requires a few screwed up looking grip tapes before you get it right unless you are just really good.
For sure! I still screw up the cut from time to time, which is frustrating
