- Tour Scotland video of the Pipe Band Parade before the Kilt Run in Perth, Perthshire. 1,000 Pipers on the march from Atholl Terrace beside the North Inch Park in Perth. This was part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in Perth. The bagpipers marched from Atholl Terrace through the city centre of Perh, then up Tay Street and back to North Inch. Pipe Bands from all over the world participated in this event, including from Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Scotland and the USA. There was a quite a delay between bands and I will have to edit this video soon.
What a great celebration. As an Englishman, there is nothing quite like the sound of a Scottish pipe band! You don't just hear the music, you feel it! Thankyou for a wonderful listening experience!
My grandfather often carried me on his shoulders over the Inches of Perth as my father often told me. That was about 60 years ago, the pipes made me think about it.
Nothing better to bring a tear to the eye,or to make a Scotsman's pride soar than a good pipe band.
You have done a fab job here----I'm fae Perth--live in Canada now---much appreciated watching this-----SLANGE
As an American, I agree completely!! Thank you, mop man, for putting it out there. There are many cities here in the states that could take lessons from THIS parade. There is no wrong or right way to organize a parade. So long as people have fun that is all that matters.
This was the second song I learned on the pipes as a kid. (Sadly school and homework made me quit) but that first song played.. it brings back some of the better memories of my youth
thank you for viewing my video twice and your comment
I really want to watch this live, amazing performance, cheers!
What a treat to listen to the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland at 9:00!!
Great effort by the other bands as well!
if I ever join the army I think there would be something so cool about marching around in a kilt and marching to a bagpipes and drums band
Was für eine Veranstaltung.Man möchte an liebsten mit dabei sein.Einfach SUPER.
I have always had a deep love for the British Isles including Scotland and Ireland. The music of the bagpipes is one reason and the amazing people and their open friendliness is another. God bless the Scottish and Irish, and British people.
Ireland has nothing to do with marching pipes. I believe that's only in America.
No Greg it's not only in America its Uk also
Greg Whyte And in Germany, India, Japan, Austria etc, etc.. etc...
I, as an American, am envious of such a display of tradition. Most Americans, I fear, would find this boring. I love seeing band after band spread over a mile of parade route, remaining to the last coordinated and enduring, not because of a marshal's oversight, rather the powerful force of tradition. I hope the Scots appreciate what they have in their midst.
+STUPIDMEMBER I choked up every time I heard the bagpipes as long as I can remember and recently through dna test to find my biological father and got the result my father ancestors were from Scotland and the British Isles . I could never explain that but now I know why .
Oh yes, we certainly appreciate it. Being Scottish and British means a lot to me.
+David Morrison as a brit (I mean english) I think I can say we're glad to have the scot's (and the irish and welsh) with us as a whole lot of heart would be lost otherwise and should anyone say the english resent the fore-mentioned please give them a slap from us, we're stronger together, financial issues and politics be damned we remain a force to be reckoned with. so long as we have people and guns we'll gladly fight to the last while marching to the sound of bagpipes and drums.
+David Morrison being Scottish means more than being british...
Susan Littlejohn a myriad of combinations, dependant on the perceived slant of the individual I suppose.
I'm from America, and this is absolutely beautiful! I would march to this any day!
Spend 5 years in the Black Watch before I become a American soldier.
Very amazing to see black pipers and drumers ! Very scots !
The drum major at 11:50 is gorgeous. It's really a great idea to let him do that.
thank you for viewing my video and your comment, Fran

Shivers, so powerful.
I'd never heard Campbelton Loch on the pipes before. the song always makes me smile
Totally and utterly awesome
Even a Yank like me loves this. Thank you!
wunderbare Dudelsackmusik, die ich besonders liebe, da ich ein sehr großer Fan dieses speziellen Musikinstrumentes bin! Wäre sehr schön, mal direkt live diese
Musik in Schottland erleben zu können! Bernd - Augsburg - 13.3.2015 21:02 Uhr
TERRIFIC! Thanks for posting. Piper in the U.S.A. here.
Beautiful
loved it thank you for sharing, made me feel abit homesick
I'm Latin and yet I'm about to learn to play the pipes. My group will have to wear full gear and kilts as we perform at events and parades as they have for years. Does this mean I have an identity crisis? Nope... just major love and respect for other cultures.
As an English man I would love to wear the Kilt and visit the highlands ..
Joseph Landrut As a Scot, you are very welcome...........( dont believe the crap they tell you, in the paper's........ we all moan and groan, and we may well break away one day, but there is no malice.) I hope you wear the kilt some day.
***** Hey you could wear a kilt also...Your last name is of Celtic , I bet you could find a Keegan tartan out there.
***** Then I hope you do come one day,but you might need to bring some sunshine with you .. because it's usually raining here..LoL...
***** Then you really must come....x
Joseph Landrut Blasphemy!
Jolly good, Well done, and yes I'm in a Kilt carrying an Axe!
oh gawd im learning this at school this Sunday I'm going to an another practice:,) and I'm on the chanter still.... but soon I will be getting bagpipes so exited
I like Scotland & God save the Land!
Really nice footage!
thank you for viewing my video and your kind comment
some good bands...and some shockers!
TERRIFIC! Thanks!
I have lived in England for 50 years. The only place I will ever call home is, gods land, SCOTLAND.
i love it
Fantastic.stuff. I'm not a Scot but contrary to what seems to be a sadly increasing and much distorted portrayal of normal English people's view of Scotland, and yes we may have our differences, our banter and good natured rivalry, but make no mistake, we would always be there for you and long may you continue to be a valued and proud member of what, in my opinion, is a great Union of Countries. 👍❤🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you so much maybe im buying one of tjose they sound awesome!
That fellas secretly surveilling that building
Thank you for sharing.
Love the music. Not so keen on the british version of the herrenvolk.

I always feel dissapointed when i see kids and women marching. Not that i think they can't join , or i hate them but when i hear this music its so powerfull and makes me think of great warriors ready for battle and then when i see women and children the magic is gone.
BELISSIMO, ORGANIZAÇÃO, MÚSICA,DISCIPLINA
凄い!感動しました!
Anyone else notice the background conversation at 3:10 "Nancy couldn't see" then a couple seconds later, " aye Bill said".. Apparently we don't live in Perth anymore, nope, we live in Oliver twist.. :L
Try the Hunter Mountain Grand March at end of Celtic Festival. That is truly a thousand piper march. Still this a parade of note tho.Great video and the child says " let's go home now mommy",

Jacobite Piper
Thank You for taking the time to answer my question. Cheers. M
You're more than welcome.
Did it ever occur to the ignorant that there needs to be a little spacing and pace between pipe bands so as not to create a cacophony? As a proud American of Scots heritage, I would have loved to have been there! Scots together everywhere!
That big red chicken with the kilt at 18:10 lol
+Rattlebbones 66 It's a grouse I think.
whats the tune at 23:00 ?
klasse
how the first tune is called ??
i love this so much but can't find it !
+R4ph4 H It's called Atholl Highlanders
thanks
They Should have Made the scouts march too
more pipers?
What's the name of the first song played?
Glendaruel Highlanders
thanks
The pipes need to be with drums, big-belly drums, that you can feel in your throat. Otherwise, it's just so much buzz that all sounds alike. If you have ever heard and felt it, you know it.
thanks for your comment
That first song what is its name
Glendaruel Highlanders
whats the tune at 11:10? anyone know?
17:20 Mains of Fintry Pipe Band from Dundee
Must apologize, i never looked at your full opening comment re: editing
whats the second tune anyone ?
Can someone please tell me the name of the tune played by the 2nd band @ 1:40 and again at 16:20? Thanks
its Perth and District pipe band!
*****
It's indeed as you said. It's a transcription from "La Tua Danza Sì Leggiera" (William Tell, 3rd act. Rossini).
The tune is 'green hills of Tyrol' it had words written for it and this was recorded by Andy Stewart as 'Scottish soldier'
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Scottish_Soldier
Green Hills of Tyrol and The Battles Over
The Green hills of Tyrol
Does anyone knows the title which is played at 08:35-09:15 ?
do not know, sorry
They are tenor drums.
That's the side/ snare drum
You will one day
Two names for the same drum
The Green Hills of Tyrol :D
