Lol, I was about to say Manfred Mann sang Do Wah Diddy Diddy, but then I realized Zapp must've sampled their song to have a song with that name. They should really do Manfred Mann! =)
When Roger Troutman came out with "I wanna be your man" I was a love struck child! Zapp and Roger definitely legends! Thanks for adding them to your video🤗
My days of cooking for the week on saturdays, may be over, but listening to this brings back such good memories in the kitchen! With hubby and son dancing around me while I’m trying to cook!!!!
I played that song on my boom box until my tape broke. (Yeah, I'm that old) Then when CD's came out, I played the CD on my discman until it wore out, then downloaded it and still play all their stuff even now on my phone. Roger Troutman is missed. He was ahead of his time.
You can’t go wrong with this jam. So funky! Jay, you have to introduce Amber to “Brand New Funk” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Gotta bounce to this.
Hi, Jordan and Amber, thank you guys for this reaction! That's what I'm talking about, Zapp is one of my all time favorite band. Their next album, Zapp II, includes "Dance Floor" and "Doo Wa Ditty", but in my humble opinion, their best album is Zapp III (I still have the vinyl) wich includes "I Can Make You Dance", "Heartbreaker", "We Need The Buck" and my favorite Zapp's slow jam "Spend My Whole Life", please guys check that out. The New Zapp IV U, their fourth album, includes Computer Love and I saw your reaction to that song, but I highly recommend the extended version with Charlie Wilson from Gap Band on lead vocals and Shirley Murdock on backing vocals. I grew up in Dayton, OH Roger's hometown. Went to school with some of his nieces and nephew. I also went to school with one of the back up singers for the band. You have made my day with this one.
I REMEMBER THIS SONG JAY, I'm right there with you too, you are not alone but you now know what it's like for us when you react to songs we grew up with, their songs would get a lot of kids out on the roller-skating floor, I'm telling you. My younger brothers introduced Zapp and Roger's music to us so that they can practice their dance moves to them, along with "Dance Floor", "Doo Wa Ditty", "I wanna be your man" This song had me chair dancing along with you both! Totally awesome! I enjoyed your reaction. ☮💕
Hi beautiful couple, and kids, 🙏I LOVE THIS J❣️ I've never heard it before and!!! I love the idea of you sharing songs with us! You should each do that every week or month. I know you're very busy doing requests, but I live that you did this today ❣️🌊🌲I'm getting this song for my Playlist! THANKS
I was 15 years old and I had 3 albums playing continuously on the turntable in my room: 1999 by Prince, What Time Is It by The Time, and Zapp II by Zapp. This song wasn’t on it, but Dance Floor, Do You Really Want An Answer, Doo Wa Ditty, and Playin’ Kinda Ruff were, and I loved every second of it.
My mom, grandmother and great-grandmother were huge fans of Zapp and Roger, and my brother and I grew up listening to them and still do. 🙂 This one isn't a favorite, but it'll do. "Grapevine", their version of Marvin Gaye's song, is my favorite. 👍🏽 My cousin used to live near Roger when he was just starting out. She said he'd drive through the neighborhood with his music blasting, waving to everyone and taking a minute to talk just like he did before he started making big money. 🙂
Haha watching J groove and sing is exactly what us old heads do with the songs you normally react to. I'm 63, and I don't think I ever heard this. It was fun!

This songs beat note starts on the 1 downbeat. That's why it grabs you right at the beginning. A bad jam doing my senior year in high school. Check out the song " Dance Floor " from their second album ZAP II ! Another smoker !!!
I remember dancing to the song back in the day at a club called graham central station in the late 80's and early 90's here in Albuquerque. Always a jam!
It's so refreshing to see The Younger Generations hearing and appreciating the Music of my Teenage years . This music was groundbreaking after The Disco Era. You couldn't go to A Club or Roller Rink without hearing this.
OMG! This song takes me back to when I first started going to the dance clubs with all my girlfriends. We heard Zapp & Roger songs played so much, in the car, on the radio and especially in the.clubs. My favorite Zap & Roger was "Dance Floor" I dare you to keep from dancing when you hear it.
Haha, while I turn 70 this year I listen to 2Pac and Biggie myself. Dre and Snoop too and they actually bring back memories to me. Music marks time like nothing else. They say dementia patients can become different people for a while when they hear their old favorites. You guys are making your own memories doing your channel. Who knows Jay, maybe 20 years from now you'll turn to Amber and say: "Remember when I didn't like Rock Lobster? Those were the days!" Peace!
One of the most sampled songs in hip-hop.. You guys have to check out Computer Love by Zapp feat Roger with Charlie Wilson from the Gap Band and Shirley Murdock on the background vocals
I had a buddy who had a disco club and a girl we worked with would dance to this song everytime it came on, she had quite a few ounces to bounce and she would bounce all of them to this song.
I remember this. Straight up dance music. You should really react to Not Just Knee Deep by the Funkadelics (P-Funk). My cleaning album was War's Greatest Hits. Low Rider (George Lopez song) is on that album. All Day Music, Summer, Cisco Kid, Gypsy Man. You two would really like war too
Man, once you've heard Roger Troutman's music. Your life is changed forever. You can't sit still when Roger comes on. I'm 57 years old now, and I still get that feeling when Roger comes on!
Oh wow! This took me all the way back to my middle school days, my mama dropping me and my BFF off at the roller skating 🛼🛼rink every Friday and Saturday night. Great song and great memories.
Jay: we used to jam to Zapp and Rodger. Amber: we used to jam to Kelly Clarkson. You two are living proof that Opposites attract. How did the two of you ever get together?(I'm glad you did because I love both of you and your beautiful family) but seriously, how?
Random, but one I think you'll both love - MY mom and I used to clean to "Little Green Bag" by the George Baker Selection. Jay, it has one of the most memorable basslines you'll ever hear and you got your cowbell. Other Saturday morning cleaning songs were Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" and Sylvester's "Disco Heat", which I think you'd also enjoy. I didn't know everybody's mom had them cleaning to music on Saturday mornings! Haha!
@@jameshouston2174 oh, I have to have music on when I'm cleaning or working in the garden. It's just funny that he also had memories of Saturday morning cleaning with Mom and the music they played.
I saw them in concert way back in the day. The concert was The GAP Band, Zapp, and Soul Sonic Force. My favorite Zapp song is "Doo Wa Ditty." Ah yes, takes me back to my youth. Good one Jay.
This is a classic song! They are the kings of that voice-box sound! This is a total jam! I remember skating to this at the roller rink! They are a total vibe! ❤❤

I feel you on this one Jay.👍 BTW, "Jay" is my son's childhood nickname which I still find myself calling him sometimes, despite him being 40 years old now. I was full into the Funk, Soul and Disco sounds of the 70s & 80s. You have to remember that these songs were focused on "dance" with a consistent beat and groove to facilitate the masses that were flocking to the dance floors during that time. I guess it was easier for me because I could dance and for awhile, was often at a club and out on the dance floor. You're absolutely right, "Zapp & Roger are legends". You know, Ice Cube credits "More Bounce To The Ounce" for introducing him to "Hip-Hop". It's such a shame what happened to them, RIP.😕 I haven't heard this song in such a long time and it brings back memories for me. I immediately began thinking about artists like Dunn & Bruce Street, Alexander O'Neal, Colonel Abrams, Skyy, The Ohio Players, Central Line, Midnight Star, etc.. There's just too many lost artists and sounds that the newer generations will never know anything more about than a few seconds of a sampled loop. Bring it back Jay.😉 Peace & Love🕊❤
Very Snappy! (since I'm 71) Lots of Energy, and Would Be FUN to dance to, if I could keep up! :) You Guys had lots of fun with this one! Happy to hear some more of Your Favs! :) PS Amber- It IS Funkadelic!
Ok that was jammin! Wow that was released when I was 20 although I never heard of Zapp and Roger until you did Computer love! Thanks for introducing me to it! Better late than never
This came out in 1979 and THAT was THEE best summer I have EVER had. This was playing in the roller skating rinks back then. I have loved this song ever since then and I STILL love it and always will. I came to watch your reactions guys just to hear this song glad you always loved it too Jay. Thank you guys for playing it I just hope and pray that one day you guys will be willing to play You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban I've only been asking for forever maybe one day you'll take pity on this old lady....
Amber & Jay, first of all Rip to the greatest Talk Boxer of all time Mr. Roger Troutman. This cat was so creative with his music n I grew up in the 80's Funk. Me n my fam got together n it was ole school all day N Zapp & Roger was always on the top. We be doing the soul train dance n getting down on the dance floor. We was jamming. Glad U put Zapp & Roger Jay.
Honestly NOT going on the playlist, but your reaction to the song and Jay's pure enjoyment made it all worthwhile..you guys are the reason most of us tune in and even when you cover a song that is not a favorite we still have fun watching you two!! Thanks for sharing a precious childhood memory with us 😊
Finally!!!! One of my requests!!!!! Thank you!!!! Feel the funk!!! Get it Jay!!!! Do your thang bruh!!!! Come on Amber!!! Let the funk take you there!!!!!!! Kelly Clarkson?? Really?? C'mon Amber!!!
I listen to all types of music from all different eras but I have never in my life heard of this group or the song it had me giggling so hard at Robs reaction 😆 they sort of remind me of ready for the world with some funk mixed in hehehe
This song is amazing! Kelly Clarkson is amazing too, Amber. I used to go roller skating to all this great music! Takes me back to my jr. high school days. Thanks for those memories, Jay!
Technically, Zapp is a group. Roger (Troutman) is a solo artist. Roger was n the group Zapp with his brothers(Troutman). Originally auto tune( voice box).
Roger Troutman was a musical prodigy like Prince! He played 10 instruments!! And patented the vocalize! It sent electric charges into your throat through the tube.
I remember when this came out !!! I was 12 and usually it was followed up with something from the Gap band or S.O.S. Band ... I surfed the radio stations from R&B to Rock and Blast them both equally . All while dancing around the house cleaning house and doing my chores ..I'd be mad as H**L but the rhythm takes hold and it makes cleaning go much faster if you get lost into the beat of some good music ... Good times !!!
This is THE song to play when you wanna get folks dancing! I'm cleaning the basement rn bumping this jam! We always cleaned to music. Best way to get things done.
Immediately this song makes anyone who hears it make "that face" and their necks start jerking and both hands go up😂 I don’t care what first time reaction you see.💯❤🤣😆🎵
If you want to hear a Kelly Clarkson song that's a total banger, check out "Since U Been Gone." Love that Zapp & Roger funk, you got my wife dancing (again)!!! She's right there with you Jay!
If shes not already sold, "I wanna Be Your Man" is gonna push Amber over the edge.

You can’t go wrong with this jam. So funky! Jay, you have to introduce Amber to “Brand New Funk” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Gotta bounce to this.
This is a cali all time classic. In all the hoods and low rider seen
This song is 43 years old and it's still the jam today, the funk has arisen.
Jay’s enthusiasm is all of us when our childhood jam comes on! 😂😂😂 we be annoying but we don’t care! Jam on, Jay! 😂❤
"G-g-g-g-get on the dance floor baby. Get down!" Yeah...that's the hook right there!
Holy cow… Jay is in his element!!! 🤣🤣🤣

One of my all time favorites.
Jay, it is great to see you jammin' to this song, lost in the nostalgia. This one takes me back to the rink!
Wow your missing out, im sure you heard of California Love by Dr Dre, he was featured on that.
Heard it through the Grapevine by Rogers and Zap
If you can roller skate to this on beat, you understand why this is iconic, LOL
I love Zapp and Roger and also love Kelly Clarkson! Amber, play Kelly's Medicine for Jay, I know he'll love it!
If Zapp ever comes to your area you need to go see them . One of the best performers I’ve seen . Roger would be proud of em .
This song is amazing! Kelly Clarkson is amazing too, Amber. I used to go roller skating to all this great music! Takes me back to my jr. high school days. Thanks for those memories, Jay!
Man if y'all don't stop corrupting this classic funk talking about some ole Kelly Clarkson..... 😂😂😂😂
OMG !!! Roger & Zapp!! I almost can't handle This !
You have to do more reactions to Zapp and Roger, you two. Absolute legendary. Period.🎵🎶🎼🎶🎵🎼
