Thank you for the birthday wishes. David, Walter Robotics Expo is part of the bands gimmick. In Steam Powered Giraffe’s back story Walter Robotics was the company that made the robots in 1916.
Happy belated birthday, Bethany! And thanks for the suggestion, love me some SPG! Though it's ironic that when buying from their store you have to prove you're not a robot...
I hope you do spend some more time listening to SPG. You were watching a live show recording, although those are good, I recommend the official videos on most songs. Part of the robot gimmick is that they were built in 1896 and have been writing and performing since then, and so do songs in many different genres. Another one of their old-timey songs I'd recommend is "Brass Goggles", there's some great a capella counterpoint in that one. "Rust With You" for some 1950's doo-wop, "Shattered Stars" for a Motown groove, "Overdrive" for a more modern dance mix. Plus I recommend one of their more recent videos "Hot on the Trail", for the amazing way The Spine can convey an emotional song while still being a convincing robot.
I randomly saw this band at a convention years ago and was pleasantly confused and blown away. The guitarists voice is especially amazing on the songs that show him off
I find a LOT of Metalheads are drawn to this band because they use the same melodic tone structures that classic metal uses. The lead singers also have a similar vocal diction, nasal forward vocal style. SPG is INSANELY talented, and has been since their early busking years like over a decade ago. 🥰
I'm a metalhead....period. However, I really appreciate this group. I have listened to them for many years...since they used to do shows at the San Diego Zoo back in 2012. I have quite a few of their songs...not because they are metal or rock..but because they are talented and the sound is enjoyable. I would suggest some of their older music videos to explore. Great Reaction David for such a unique band and act.
I consider this to be a perfect song. Haunting, lyrical, and seemingly simple while unbelievably complex. It brings all the feels and I never get tired of it. Super interested to hear what you think!❤
Love this band, and the gimmick is what drew me into the band at first. You see see the thumb nail on You Tube and you like what the heck is this. The lead singer for this songs(for this song there is no lead singer per say they all write their own songs and take turns being lead) and the one playing a guitar are twins and the idea for this band came from a pantomime class they took at college together.
I really loved your thoughts on this and and to be honest was pleasantly surprised that it appealed to you as much as it appeals to me. ❤ Strongly recommend Automatonic Electronic Harmonics, Brass Googles, and Malfunction. I would watch their videos for the full fact, and don't worry, they never block anyone 😉 thanks!
came across this a few days ago ,came with tears (I) how they sang, how it its hard to have a person in the female ,trying hard to fight so hard to to lose them working to have something with her ,only to lose her ,an basically shutting down be lonely every man is in a very sadastic life right
Need more!..... the art will be contagious with more exposure. Aside from the turnover... the talent is massive with Rabbit and Spine(stage names). THANKS for All of you... past and present!!
I don`t have problems with gimmicks ) When I heard King Diamond iin 1988 - I had the audio tape where I saw him in make-up on the tape cover. And I found it very interesting and fascinating.
Could you react to "Motionless in White - In Another Life" and "Motionless in White - Eternally Yours"? They go together, written by the lead singer. Happy belated birthday, Bethany. I really enjoy Honeybee, its such a bittersweet song that sounds happy/pleasant.
Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Same. I feel like anyone who's ever been in love, and lost that love can relate to this song. It's amazing.
Some of their harmonies make me think of the band America
Happy Birthday Bethany. I hadn't heard these guys in a while. And I had never heard them live. Thanks.
