    The double names in a car might get confusing? Two Camerons for instance. Though let's be honest, the best one in my opinion was when David Parsons and David Parsons combined!
    Silly season's looking quite interesting, didn't know that there were so many interesting permutations. I had come across people saying that Kostecki was being linked to DJR but I didn't pay much attention to it. As for DJR themselves, I think the thing is that the drivers have actually been quite evenly matched over their time as teammates. Anton de Pasquale does have speed and as of Darwin last week he's won 8 times to Will Davison's 3, in poles he leads 16-11 and in podiums he leads 29-26. But de Pasquale has had 9 DNFs (and two DSQs and a DNS) to Davison's single DNF (which happened to come at Bathurst). And in a series which awards a lot of points for every single position that's pretty crucial. Their championship finishes bear this out as well:
    Anton de Pasquale:
    2021: 6th
    2022: 4th
    2023: 8th
    2024 as of Darwin: 8th
    Will Davison:
    2021: 4th
    2022: 5th
    2023: 10th
    2024 as of Darwin: 7th
    So who to keep? I don't know. I like both drivers (Davo's probably my favourite out of the entire grid) and I think they still offer quite a lot even though Davison's probably not got long left in his full-time career. They're both solid steerers, and you can make a good case for both to retain their drive, but do either of them have the x-factor that DJR have been missing driver-wise since Scott McLaughlin left? Not really, it looks like. To be fair though, not many drivers have that x-factor.
    What's happened with Zak Best? He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Is it mostly due to funding or might there be something else?

    • @SupercarsTorque
      @SupercarsTorque  3 місяці тому

      I think DJR has their x-factor driver in Kai Allen coming in, so a solid performer would be good for a year or two while he gets up to speed and then they can bring in the next driver. Thats my opinion anyway.
      And Zak Best, there must be something else going on there as his results have always been good, but he's jumped around a bit and even Tickford had the perfect opportunity to promote him (and I've heard he had a healthy budget) but they took Fraser over him.

    About your predictions for the 2025 grid, I reckon your spot on with the Ford drivers who aren't locked in. Waters to Nascar or the Xfinity series, Anton to Tickford, Will stays at DJR. Monster Energy are going to want a big name driver, Anton has proven he is quick when in good machinery.

    Not sure Cam will leave at the end of the year especially with all the Charter chat going in Nascar at the moment, wouldn't be surprised if monster gave him a pay rise to stay as well. Chaz will stay where he is. I think Charlie needs to give Frosty a gold watch and tell him its time to walk before he gets pushed and start bringing some young guys in. Brodie and Bieber will be a great combo at Petes next year and expect that team to do what erebus did in 22 and 23. It would be great top see a couple more cars on the grid with some young guys to get the ball rolling on the future but will never happen unfortunately

    • @SupercarsTorque
      @SupercarsTorque  3 місяці тому +1

      Thats my biggest disappointment with the current setup of only 24 cars, you get less teams taking a risk on a young gun. Having said that at least we have had Payne and Wood come in, plus next year at least Allen will be joining

    After Darwin, both Golding and Murray could be in the mix for the enduros. They have some of the better codrivers and have shown a fair bit of speed of late.

      You can easily see the 888 wildcard being in the top 10, but can't see it being outright. I think changing the co-driver rules will play a bit of a role during the day now

    Frosty isn’t locked. This year is a contract year for him. As far as I know, Mostert also has a contract with WAU for next year. Courtney runs through to 2025 and it’s likely going to be his last full time year in 25.
    I can’t see Waters going to NASCAR. You need to perform to get the sponsors and so far, Cam hasn’t lit the world on fire like SVG or even Brown did. Kostecki and Waters NASCAR dream is going to be hard

    What about Todd Hazelwood at Erebus? He did a great job in the 2 rounds he did. I haven't seen Jobe getting trophies in Super2, so I don't think he's ready for the step up yet. i think PremiAir and Erebus are the teams that will most likely see change. Brodie to PremiAir. Kai Allen must go somewhere. He's on the verge of making history. Some poor bugger has to miss out. It's unlikely that we'll see half the grid turned on its head just because they're off contract.

    • @SupercarsTorque

    Where do you get your info from? Chaz signed a long-term contract with WAU last year. This was reported by Supercars in October 2023.
    Chaz Mostert will remain with Walkinshaw Andretti United beyond 2023 after signing a long-term deal, the Ford team has announced. In a statement, WAU didn't specify the length of the deal, which it labelled “long-term” - all but confirming WAU will become Mostert's longest home in Supercars.

    I’d stick with Anton in the #11
    And put Kai in car #17
    DJR have to put more into ADP! He’s been the quickest driver in the Gen3 era between him and Will you take away the DNF Anton’s had through no fault of his own and he’s top five in the championship this year and he would have finished higher in the ten last year again removing the DNF he had through no fault of his own.
    If the team allowed Anton passed the #17 in Perth both races there’s easily a better result there! Car #11 was clearly faster and even on the Sunday in Darwin a better race result for the team went begging by not prioritising the faster car.

    • @SupercarsTorque
      @SupercarsTorque  3 місяці тому

      Its a real toss up that one. My leaning towards Davison is someone that is more consistent for Kai to work with. But then you could also offer him a lucrative enduro role and do the same thing while using Anton as a speed yardstick for Kai. See I'm arguing it both ways again!
