There was obviously something wrong when he tried the first take off, that ground handling was atrocious. Why didn't he come back to the pits and sort out the problem ? If he had he could have got some decent ground speed and not had not had to yank the elevator to get off the ground. Such a shame to lose a nice model in that way.
Maybe both engines were rotating in the same direction instead of reverse of each other to counter the torque. That was why it torque rolled into the ground.
I saw a number of mistakes. Range check, surface deflection test, and taking off on high rates. If you can't track straight down the runway on low rates....fix it....or make this plane electric with counter rotating props. There are builders and pilots.....this guy is a builder. Once you saw that first problem, you should have stopped and fixed it.
I agree and there is another mistake. Never stand in front of your aircraft during the full throttle test. This guy knows everything better and is 100% resistant to any advice.
He obviously is flying above his pay grade, but he is surrounded by no one who will tell him the truth or he is too prideful to listen. Glad to hear some honest evsluation of a rc flyer who may be a nice guy but must be a total menace, Dennis
Tough to watch, but the great thing is you can get another just like it right off the shelf.. That particular A-26 model is a great flying airplane. The Phoenix A-26 flies super!!
I had a twinstar one time loose power on the left engine during takeoff and veer toward spectators, so i yanked up and it took off straight up on one engine avoiding the people but I didn’t make it far. That was my first twinstar downing
I've purchased an electric 2nd hand model which previous owner had flown numerous times without problem. He said it has plenty of power which is reassuring after reading the comment below on model needing high airspeed on takeoff. (with or without flaps?) This is a heavy twin engine bomber & one wouldn't expect it to leap into the sky. I've also heard it has dubious handling qualities. What are your experiences with this model?
Really none as it was a friends. I think when you go to fly a model you should be happy with all aspects of it. Grand handling, power run up etc. those can all be worked out
Always sorry to see this and thank you for posting as many more people can learn . In the early part of the video , when the plane is on its stand , does the leading edge of the left wing look dropped ; and maybe causing the corkscrew effect ???
Looked like it was pulling to the left the entire time - either the nose wheel steering wasn't centered (and had way too much throw) or the left motor wasn't matching the speed of the right. As someone who owned a Phoenix A26, this plane flies like a scale ww2 bomber and needs PLENTY of speed before rotating. It flies good but certainly can't be thrown around the sky like a fighter plane and needs plenty of speed and coordinated rudder at all times to perform its best.
This plane was an incredible bargain before they raised the price nearly $200. But I saw too many videos of the wings breaking in flight to ever order one.
I hate to see any plane crashing but its part of the hobby and these things happen. As one man said earlier, if the take off roll is not right then abort and bring the plane back to the pits and sort the problem out. Good luck with future ventures.
I have 30 years in this hobby, items like this never cease to amaze me. Assembly times for an ARF like this is probably 25 -30 hours, why in the name of god would you not even think of all of the required pre test flying check list, and runway practice first? I still do it with just plain old ugly sticks and trainers. This is not part of the Hobby, its a part of laziness, poor preparation and a lack of respect for the hobby. Unsafe, stupid and costly. My thoughts are... You had it comming I just shake my head in disbelief
Wow that’s persistent! Stop, bring it back to the pits and fix the wheel alignment issues! Text book low speed tip stall take off. I lost a Cessna 336 the same way 😔😞
Wow, After watching all those mistakes, one right after another, hopefully some seasoned modeler can coach/mentor this guy. It was so obvious what was going to happen. Not a foamie!!
Sorry for the loss, but after watching many of these planes fly it would seem to be a nasty plane that is not very forgiving, stalls all to easy. Other than the nose gear set way to sensitive
Totally avoidable. There was an asymmetric thrust issue from the start. If it won't track straight on the ground what do you think it's going do when the wheels leave the ground?! The fin is going to magically stop it yawing is it? Flying twins is completely different and there's an extra level of skill involved to get it right and clearly not present here!
Way too much nosewheel movement. When it taxied back from the first run it turned around in about 2 feet. That resulted in a hyper-sensitive yaw response on the ground. About 1/4th that much throw on the nosewheel and it would have been another, happier ending.
Yes, many, many people these days try to jump from all the super lightly loaded foam models, and think all models are very forgiving like all foamies. A balsa and ply model with a high wing loading is a completely different animal that feels very different in the air. they must be flown closer to full scale airplanes, as the yanking, jerking and forcing that you can get away with with a foamy, is not possible with a higher loaded model. Two totally different things!!

Agree 💯 percent
Because some people cannot help themselves or be helped. Absolutely stupid to try take off with it behaving like that..
Not to worry guys that was my first attempt at a twin we will try on something again I'm not discouraged at all
I have never attempted a twin either for many reasons. I love your tenacity
@@JustPlaneCrazy shit a single engine gasser is sketchy enough for me. I couldn't imagine a twin
Seemed like one motor had more thrust than the other, sucks that’s a nice model hopefully he salvaged some things for next project!
That's exactly what I thought from the time he put it on the ground
Maybe both engines were rotating in the same direction instead of reverse of each other to counter the torque. That was why it torque rolled into the ground.

Disaster from the start.
I agree and there is another mistake. Never stand in front of your aircraft during the full throttle test. This guy knows everything better and is 100% resistant to any advice.
This guy is a builder? This is an ARF, only had to fit power plants and radio gear, hardly building. This guy is neither.
Bless you all

Your first indication something wasn't right was right on the runway when you first went to take off.
I have the same plane but electric. I found it really need lots of airspeed before lift off. It appeared to tip stall due to low takeoff speed.
Exactly. !!!
Darn it! Sounded soo good and was a purdy bird!

Reversed ailerons?
I've never done that this week 😊
Left engine not tuned right, should have straightened out that before ever trying to takeoff. Was it fixable?
Nope
I had a twinstar one time loose power on the left engine during takeoff and veer toward spectators, so i yanked up and it took off straight up on one engine avoiding the people but I didn’t make it far. That was my first twinstar downing

They were correct
this crash could have been avoided such a shame.

Learned a lot
During the run up I sensed a problem engine didn’t seem to rev high enough but the guy attempted to take off anyway and look what happens
Could see that coming.
Aw man that is super sad, i was just about to fall in love with that plane
What a silly pilot mistake!!! Not enough speed, well too much elevator!!! RIP A26 invader...
This plane was an incredible bargain before they raised the price nearly $200. But I saw too many videos of the wings breaking in flight to ever order one.
You think $200 is too much for a warbird this size?
Nope

Momma said there would be days like that.
A music man? Well there is trouble in river city for sure
Pilot error unfortunately, never rush your take off
Sorry to see that happened.
Sorry to see that, but you are soon going back. And it’s a learning experience for everyone. No one is born with pilot skills
Bummer that plane didn't deserve that
Me and you would have had less aircraft to repair. Rekem Roy {{{{{{ROCKS}}}}}} 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
@@tughillrc6327 well TUGHILL. I would have chickened out before it left the ground. So 🤷♂️

Unfortunate, what engines??.
Rcgf 20
@@JustPlaneCrazy Thank you.
Engines not synchronised properly, left was sluggish on taxi… and that’s the exact direction it rolled..
Damn, that sucks homie.

Defiantly an AS3X issue with the receiver orientation backwards, happens all the time!

Dumb pilot trying to rush a maiden flight. You need to check if each engine has the same rpm
Bummer
Way too much nose wheel steering. Also kinda looked like reverse ailerons too.
Ailerons were backwards.
Ouch that hurts
No matter what.. get it in the air at all cost right? Wrong! So many things done wrong.
Yeah tough flight

This looked more like a suicide mission
Does anyone notice the left wing being warped? Even negative aoa?
yes, that is what I saw as well

Ground control like that never take off lol so sad
The Motor is to powerful for that plane ✈️ or not enough air flow over the wings. The Plane just torqued right

Good thing he only flies rc planes....Holly Cow
Just a non RC pilot is what I'm thinking. Maybe should practice with a really cheap plane, eh?

Maybe you should try rc cars..
