    Good video EXCEPT for one thing, the camera person needs to get a clue!
    When the Ford guy is explaining something on the engine, the turbo in this case, and he's obviously pointing to the part he's talking about, IT NEEDS TO BE IN FRAME!

    As an owner of a 2008 Ford Edge Limited SEL. I can say that the car drives great. The all wheel drive is very responsive. The engines on the other hand are very poorly designed which is why they're coming out with these new ones. The older edges are notorious for have oil issues. The oil doesn't flow through the engine properly jamming the cams up and causing the phasers to fail. It's a $1800 dollar fix. I feel that's a problem with a motor that only has 56k miles on it. Because of this, I've lost a ton of faith in the Ford brand. I've always been brand loyal. This makes it tough to even consider owning another one.

      Loved my 08 Edge except when it stalls for no reason. Ford Mechanics can never find a problem when it comes to the transmission.

    Id take that 3.5 all day. Almost bullit proof other then the waterpump issue. Thing will easily get you 250k+ miles

    Can't wait for the review on this car from TFL. So far all of the reviews that I've seen have been outstanding. I'm very interested in your opinions Roman. Funny that the least interesting engine is the V6.

    That 2.7 needs to find its way into the Fusion. Those are better peak numbers than the standard BMW 335i. That engine in the Fusion with AWD would be something serious.

    • @TheLanard
      @TheLanard 9 років тому +2

      goatmonkey2112 I had the 2.0 Fusion, and that engine is more than enough for a midsize sedan. I've had five adults in that car, including me, and it pulled like I was the only one in there. I now have a 2016 Lincoln MKZ, with the same 2.0. There is no loss of power. I do feel that 2.7 should be an option instead of the naturally aspired 3.5.

      emdec55 So does that mean new EDGE must be recalled?
      EVen NA rngine cars are getting recalled, what about GM, they recall even 6.2l trucks for fun,
      What about FCA products, they are all about recalling
      Ford recalls vehicles b4 something goes wrong and thats why they are still worlds most ethical car company as well
      www.carscoops.com/2015/03/ford-is-yet-again-worlds-most-ethical.html

    Note to Roman, a Ford 460 CID engine was specified as being 7.5 liters and its lowest factory rating was 208 horsepower. It also had 365 lb*ft of torque at 2600 rpm. A marginal mechanic could have that engine making over 500 horsepower in a weekend.

  • @BoneZ097
    @BoneZ097 9 років тому +3

    They need a larger engine in the fusion. Small engines are fine for those who want them but a larger engine in a smaller car is the best combination of size, fuel economy, and horsepower. Especially if you want that Middle Class Aston Martin.

    • @J-W.-
      @J-W.- 9 років тому +1

      Larger engine means more weight which= less fuel economy, Hampered Handling, and weight over the front wheels.

    • @bizkillall
      @bizkillall 9 років тому

      Jonathan Washington That is true that larger and heavier engines lead to less fuel economy and lowered handling, but the reality is that the Ecoboost engines aren't small nor light. The 3.5L Ecoboost V6 is heavier than the 6.2L V8 in the Silverado and the 2.0L Ecoboost I4 is about 80lbs heaver than the 2GR-FE 3.5L V6 used in a lot of Toyota's like the Camry. The 2GR-FE has been in production for over 10 years now.
      The Ecoboost engines are all about lowering emissions to meet new CAFE standards by 2020. Ecoboost engines are very clean engines but they do not offer the real world MPG gains that everyone was hoping for, nor do they help with handling due to their increase in weight.

    • @J-W.-

    I have an old Buick Skylark with the L77 350 4bl and it makes almost 300hp and almost 400ft lbs of torque and it does not suck gas , it does not sip it either.. Depends on how you drive it....It hauls the mail and has no turbos, no electronics, pure mechanical. I do not need a spectrum analyzer or a data scope to do a tune or change the oil. it is made from steel not plastic. It is extremely reliable, tight, stops and handles well and looks bad ass !! Polymetallic Green. You can rebuild just about anything on this car with tools from the kitchen !! now... This guy here is talking about 240 hp from a 2 liter that is way over stressed .. These little engines have to be driven like you hate them in order to make them go. The old Big V8's are way under-stressed and just do not work all that hard to male big power and last a long time for sure. Wonder how many eco boost engines will be around in 40 years.. lol When he talks big gas guzzling v8s with no power, he is talking middle 1970's. 1976 to 1979 or so when the government mandats kicked in and you have 200hp 460 v8s but they still have big torque. But they did suck gas. Late 70's to early 80's were the worst times for american cars. Thanks government !! But if you guys want to buy a Ford Edge with ECO Boost for over 40,000 bucks for plastic! Go for it !! Did you see all those plastic parts on that engines? Cam Phasing , over head cams and on and on and on.. Its looks like a maintenance nightmare !!!

      @blackeastertheguy 9 років тому +1

      Have you never heard of a mustang gt that's actually a tuner not a 2.7 liter TT engine SMH. Let's break it down
      TT 2.7 V6= 440 lbs (raw weight) 325 hp and 375 lb ft
      NA 5.0l V8=444 lbs (raw weight) 435 hp and 400 lb ft
      This doesn't take into account it's easy easier to tune a v8 plus it's proven reliability over the often recalled and proven unreliable "Ecoboost".
      Maybe if ford was legitimately retarded they Would listen to you but I'm sure glad they don't.

    • @MrKeyboardCommando
      @MrKeyboardCommando 9 років тому +1

      Blake Brink Twin turbo engines give a lot better power delivery than a single turbo, inasmuch as they produce power all through the rev range, rather than just in one area of the rev range. This makes for much better performance on the road.

    • @Sigrafix
      @Sigrafix 9 років тому

      Sigrafix using that engine would raise the price of car to a near GT price. the GT is cheap as fuck now because they've been making the 5.0 forever. like i told you the v-8 is better in every possible factor besides fuel consumpation which shouldn't be that big of a factor in shopping these muscle cars(otherwise they wouldn't sell manuals that fuck the stangs fuel economy) . also they shouldn't drop the 2.3 they're trying to use it to replace their 3.7 and make the ecoboost engine stock like on the very ford in this video... i feel like you don't know ford really well or reality for that matter.

    • @kma198199
      @kma198199 9 років тому

    • @ponygt6629
      @ponygt6629 9 років тому +1

      Well,U r not the only person living in this world, a lot of people dont want v8, but needs economy of v6 and more importantly torque, ecoboosts deliver torque in boat loads, to get such kind of torque one will have to make NA engines of at least 2x displacement, thats impossible in business stand point
      Also with the EDGE sport if u want u can smoke an annoying Cadillac ATS,Focus ST,BMW 328i,Merc CLA,Audi TT,Audi s5 etc, and yet be in a CUV, which other brand has balls to make a car like this NONE
      So Ford just made 1 hell of an impression with new EDGE

    • @poplepo3
      @poplepo3 9 років тому +1

      i think that torque is what there after more than top end horsepower , the 2.7 has better fuel economy than a 3.5 v6 and would allow alot of low end grunt . otherwise your only turbo option has a 2 liter engine trying to move an suv .. not exactly a great combo .

      @JoeZelensky 9 років тому

      Adam McGee I somehow forgot about the Coyote. You are correct, it is a good engine. Even the regular V6 is good, but when they do things like integrated exhaust manifolds then its time to go back to the drawing board.

    • @KANATADOMPIZ
      @KANATADOMPIZ 9 років тому +2

      Progressive Destroyer I agree thats dumb. Mercedes did that with their 5.5L twin turbo. They integrated the manifold and turbos inside the engine, What a dumb idea, if those turbos bite it I'd hate to see the bill. Same with these fords, putting regular crap gas into a car with a turbo sounds like a recipe for disaster.

    • @JoeZelensky
      @JoeZelensky 9 років тому

      Adam McGee VW did it as well with some of the TDI turbos. They had a separate exhaust manifold, but the turbo was built into it. Eventually the aftermarket fixed it. I dont think they will do the same for the Ford. I am sure it will not have a following of people wanting to do anything but drive it.
