- Hello people!
I'm back with a little comparison on Create A Pet, you know, since Cats and Dogs is out and everyone seems to be talking about it. Anyways, I compared what I thought were the most basic aspects in create a pet and i hope I didn't leave anything important out, this is more of a showcase but most comparisons are I guess.
What do you guys think about this expansion pack? It sure seemed empty to me since I just can't help but compare it Sims 3 which had a hell lot of pets but let's just focus on create a pet, since that's why we're here right? I'll be sure to compare both cats and dogs separately and then compare ALL pets to talk about smaller pets since only Sims 4 is lacking these I'm not sure if I'll include it... well, at least that's what I'm planning to do but let's see how this goes.

My Opinion:
Sims 2: Solid for the time but now it's just very difficult to make a believable four legged living being...specially with their pre-made breeds, I thought they looked good back in the day but they haven't aged well, at least for me, specially after visiting the later games this is my least favorite for creating a pet due to its limitations and unaesthetic look.
Sims 3: I just love how everything can be changed of color in here, gives a lot of freedom and I loved horses for how many animals you could make with their shape, but if we talk about just the way create a pet works I just can't handle sliders now that I've used Sims 4 push and pull system so much, but back in the day that was no problem and this game still holds well for today's standards in my opinion, a thing I would like is if I could erase from my mind the thought that the pets are voiced by humans, once you hear it...you can never not hear it...
Sims 4: I find this to be the better one obviously just for their cats and dogs, the pre-made breeds are pretty and accurate (not all but most) while giving you total freedom with the new paint mode, it's even better than Sims 3's so I gotta give them credit for doing more than bringing the color wheel back (just for pets but it's what we're talking about) so I absolutely love this create a pet but would love it even more if it included horses or at least another species to replace them instead of just giving cats and dogs but that's a rant for another video, for now, this is the game that wins in my book.

It sounds good on the surface, but genetics-wise it's not even close to what can be done in the sims3. I've actually heard (never got to play on the sims4) that this "mix-breed" thingy is pretty much limited to CAS. In-game the fur texture of the offspring is an exact copy of one of its parent's.
If you aren't a simpleton, the paint option is very useful in making breeds that aren't added, mixed breeds, or just make existing breeds more detailed.
mfw they added a color wheel to the cat creator but there's still no Create A Style color wheel

Almost forgot that sims 3 pets have non-clay furs. But damn that unrealistic meows and woofs. Hated that from the start lmao.

Thanks and I guess getting actual animals to voice-act would not only be hard but some may consider it cruelty when they have to cry or act defensive. Or maybe the people in the office thought it'd be easier and by the time everyone realized it sounded weird it was too late to back down, but that's just my guess :P
I think I've seen a statement for Sims 3 Pets saying that it was made to make the pets more "expressive" by combining animal voice and human voice, but I guess it sounded off to my ears imo.

Sims 4 will probably add a farm life pack in the future with horses and farm animals, new western styled clothes and furniture, activities, and a new farm/plain related map...hopefully this expansion comes and its not half assed
That'll probably be a GAMEPACK. An entire expansion pack for horses seem pretty useless for novelty purposes. Heck, maybe they'll just make it a stuff pack instead if they just do horses along with a few country/farm themes to it.

My comment still stands EVEN with added farm animals which will probably be watered down much like the Sims 3 farming related stuff from the store knowing EA. (Chickens and cows being objects again) Seems pretty useless other than for some storytelling purposes. But hey some might want it.
Realistically, people would buy it just for horses alone if they got shoved in a pack like that.

Your opinion is that gameplay > aesthetics which I could care less about what you think is better.

Cap and Cas is just something I always preferred in Sims 4 over Sims 3; as for gameplay, Sims 3 beats Sims 4 by variety. However, Sims 4 does do fewer in depth. The Sims 2 I hardly played on the computer except at a friend's house; I grew up on the console version of Sims 2 and have I tell you.. Direct control needs to make a comeback.

They added more gameplay,but it's just boring to control your pets.I think the sims 4 did an really great job with this expansion than the sims 3 did,also,theres more expansions to come and horses are going to be there soon as possible!
Umm sims 3 pretty much had a paint mode as well with stencils and everything plus you could choose any color too.

TS4 killed it with Create a Pet and I'd argue that it's even better than what normal Sims get. Now the real test is how the actual gameplay mechanics and features stack up against eachother...
Sims 4 definitely has better game play. I've played both and though sims 3 is fun and you can control the pets, in sims 4 they have more actions and it's just more realistic, well besides a few sicknesses and the fact that they can poop gold. An example is the cats can hide under beds jump onto a fridge and counters and ride on little vacuums. so I would say sims 4 wins gameplay and CAS

Cats and dogs aside, there are deer, horses, racoons, birds, bugs, rodents, fish and reptiles (heck IDK if I've named them all!)

I️ think the winner is a mixture between Sims 3 and Sims 4. Customization is easier in the Sims 4, with the paint mode and all, but there isn’t as much genetic diversity as in the Sims 3. You can completely mix coat patterns and colors in the Sims 3, while in the Sims 4 you only get the body type of one parent, and the coat color of the other, or even a coat color that is available for one parent’s breed. This is only my opinion though :3

The raccoon makes sense, but I don't find the sphynx cat _that_ unique. It's just a hairless breed of cat. Would be nice to have a hairless breed of dog in the game too but oh well.
I believe the Xolo is a hairless dog breed, that could have worked really well
@@fieratheproud Yep. The Xoloitzcuintli would have been a good contrast to the Sphynx. A lot of things could have been done better, but oh well.
I’d say sims 4 won. It’s an easier system with a lot of variety. That’s not to say sims 3 isn’t good, either, I simply find sims 4 to be better in the cap aspect.
luci baha Eh, I didn’t really use any of the other animals in the sims 3 outside of cats and dogs so the lack of horses doesn’t bother.
That aside, it’s already been long since rumored that horses and other farm animals are most likely to be introduced via a farm pack of some kind.
That said, this video is mainly about create a pet in general, and generally speaking the sims 4 definitely has better game mechanics to create unique pets.
Not to mention, sims 4 is the only sims generation that allows you to create puppies and kittens right off the bat, in the sims 3 and 2 you could only create adults and elders. And let’s not even talk about how many more breeds the sims 4 has available - it’s truly amazing how detailed they went.

luci baha Yeah, the Sims 3 is good, but in this aspect the sims 4 is better. Doesn’t mean the sims 3 is a bad game just because it isn’t as good as other games in some parts.

I like the cats and dogs for the Sims 4 and all... But... It's really lacking in the genetics compartment compared to Sims 3. In sims 3 the kittens or puppies would look like an actual mix of the parents, and not a clone of either parent. It was an actual mystery of what it could look like, fun. But in the Sims 4 it was, okay, will they be a clone of parent 1 or a clone of parent 2?
They aren't a clone. I don't know what do you mean by "actual mix" but from what I've tested the kittens have something of both parent (orange cat with green eyes, long tail, folded ears X gray cat with yellow eyes, normal ears and cut tail= 3 gray kittens with long tail, one eye yellow and the other green, two with folded ears and one with normal ones..also the face is different).
Alexia 483 The color is what i meant, in the Sims 3, the colors and markings would mix, sometimes the markings would be less dominant, other times the colors would be mixed from both parents. In the Sims 4, the kittens or puppies might have different body and fur types from both parents, but coloration wise it's like cloning. It's not mixing the colors and patterns, nor changing the way these colors or patterns show up like in the Sims 3. The coloration and patterns are what I'm talking about, like in the sims 3 a black cat with spots X an orange striped cat, can equal orange cat with stripes and barely visible spots, or many different variations. In the Sims 4 the same match might have kittens with different eye color and body type, bit they will either be a black spotted cat, or an orange striped cat. No surprise, just clones that have slightly different body types.

In the Sims 4, I was able to make a borzoi, a fairly obscure breed known online sometimes as the ‘Little Russian Lady’. They’re precious and strange. They have incredibly long snouts, and I was able to actually drag to lengthen the snout, and it went pretty far! I was impressed. I was impressed they even had that pre-made breed (even if I had to alter it to get it looking a little more like a real borzoi.) I wish there was a bigger size of dog, that would have been perfect, as you can’t really have a realistic Great Dane in this game and only a passably realistic borzoi. Still, the customization was great. Would like more interactions with the dogs though.

One detail in 4 I really appreciated was that none of the breeds of cat or dog have the preselected "aggressive" trait assigned to their breed when you first select them. Kind of their way of saying no pet is born aggressive, it's all in how they're raised.

What I really don't like is when you breed two animals that you've painted over, the painted patterns don't show on the babies, they just get the basecoat.
the thing I liked most about the sims 2 is that the cats and dogs could have jobs which I think was really cool. also, this didn't come with pets but is cool anyways, are the birds and the hamster thing. I know ts4 has fish and frogs, idk about ts3 I didn't have that one, but I really liked having those as pets and being able to interact with them. but that's just my two cents.
The Sims 3 had a variety of small animals. There were 8 lizards (Including Geckos, Iguanas, Chameleons and pygmy Komodo Dragons), 7 rodents (Including, Rats, Squirrels, Hedgehogs and Chinchillas), 8 types of Turtles and Tortoises, 8 types of snakes, 7 small birds and 8 large birds. The base game of Sims 3 had fish already.

Sims 3 has a special place in my family's heart because I remember the first time my older brother had seen it and begged Mom to get it. Of course, he grew out of it but years later I had gotten to my dad's and saw *The Sims 4* sitting on the coffee table! It was awesome. I still love to play it and hopefully never loose interest. 😅

In what enters CAS, Ts4 has a win on liberty/creativity but not on variety (That's what not having an open world causes. Not being able to have abe horses.). In what enters variety, it's obvious that Ts3 has a win. Then again, Ts3 also has a way to be almost as creative as Ts4, but not as much as Ts4 actually is. In the end, they're both very good. (Extra points for Ts4 because of the extra things the animals can do.)

I prefer that tbh, mainly because I’m not a big farm-lover, but I ADORE the New England look they went for in this pack.

The developers tried to make TS4 an open world, but for EA to make the Sims 4 a game that everyone could enjoy they had to get rid of it since it would make the game glitchy for certain people. In my opinion I think it’s better to have what we got with loading screens instead of glitching and freezing every time I go on a walk with my Sims
Sky Dome the color wheel and open world were taken out for that reason but since ea listened to everyone who kept commenting about color wheel they put it in and now it glitches

I hate the lumpy fur in place of fur texture in sims 4. Sims 2 definitely has it best with that, but sims 4 has some cool options. I wish they could update the fur though.

Seems all three games have some good creative freedom in CAS for sure though Sims 4 definitely improved on CAS a lot more, especially in able to tailor breeds more and accessories. Not to mention able to choose from pup and kitten at the beginning? Yes, sweet these customization options pleases me.
I mean, I enjoy the Sims 4 cats and dogs as they improved a lot more. They feel more like family rather than another addition to the family I have to take care of. Yeah, Sims 3 has *blah blah blah* pets, but honestly cats and dogs in any iteration of the game is where you can customize pets either way. Smaller pets are definitely pretty minor comparing it to the domestic ones, but doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see pet birds, hamsters, lizards/turtles though especially for convenience with most sims. Doesn't make the game less enjoyable. Plus a Veterinarian job is definitely one that hasn't been done in any sims games on PC (not including the standalone pet's games on DS).

Yes, and? I was talking about the Cats and dogs in 2, 3, and 4 where they have the most gameplay.
There's literally no point in having horses unless there's a bigger open neighborhood or one dedicated to a country like theme. I mean, where would you even go with horses in the Sims 4? Opposed to riding them and gaining skills with obstacle course and entering them in a contest (via rabbit hole of course) I found no other benefit with horses in the Sims 3. I found them about as minor as the animals in sims 3 you can have. Less you're into farm related stuff then that's okay, but the country stuff you could only buy from he sims 3 store.
They'd have to step it up if they think about adding horses back like in a farm pack. I'd like to see Sims at an actual track being able to bet on different horses. I never been too big on horses in the least as I found them uninteresting not to say others have a bigger interest in them.
Though not sure what else they can improve on horses than what they already showed as I wouldn't want a rinse and a repeat method with the majority of animals.

1. It has horses, birds and reptiles along with the cat and dog of course.
2. It doesn't mirror with the other side like Sims 4 does. This is annoying because some people don't want pets with mirrored sides.

Sorry but this is not pets, this is CREATE a pet and all Sims 3's got going on is horses, also, the mirror can be turned off! Even the video shows it
Soup Hummer the whole point of not controlling your pet is to gain the understanding of independence for cats and dogs. In the sims 3, it's just so original for just to control your pets and in the sims 4, it's gives a much more challenge and realistic feeling instead of an easy work

Emily DaUnicorn Yeah, but EA could've added an Pet Hub like they did for the Sims. Not like they would've had to add much more since it was already in the files.. Would've made checking stats more easier without mods.

In Sims 5 they'll finally realize there are large and small cat breeds too. My house has two larger sized cats one being a mix of unknown breeds and the other has Maine Coon.

I was so disappointed when Sims 4 didnt have horses, i loved seeing wild horses and stuff in the game with the Sims 4 style of graphics idk how the horses.would look tho but someone would definetely end up using the paint system to make them look realistic and cool like they do with the cats and dogs in the gallery
I am a huge Sims fan. Been playing the game since Sims 2 based game first came out. And out of all the create a pets from 2 to 4. 4 is definitely the best one. Especially since that was exactly what I had wanted in a Sims pets ep. Now I can finally create my own 2 real life cats. In 3 I could have done that. But it wouldn’t be as easy as it is in 4.

I got the sims 3 pets recently, since I only play sims 3. The pets in it are pretty annoying...and the whole creat a pet system is so complicated. And don't even get me _STARTED_ on the actual screams that they call 'meows' in the game.

Sims 2 also has special codes in the settings if you have pets, so you can get more colors, collars and patterns.

We need a Sims 5 that has the same edit Sim thing in Sims 4 but the same world map features as the Sims 3.
Also I just wanted to say that only having two tails in the Sims 3 is kind of annoying.
I hope they add "Pre-Teen" as a life stage in the future.
And Pre-Kid, or Kindergartener.
And Middle Age life stage.
This would be awesome, instead of a baby who can't walk age up into a kid and LEARN STUFF IN SCHOOL!

TS4 did great with CAS and build buy mode but the gameplay is really what we need more of.

i dont know why everyone says sims 3 is laggy and has ton loading screens i agree that loading screens are awful no one likes them but don`t tell me im only one who doesnt get any lag in sims 3 sims 4 is a big problem for me
Don't worry your not the only one. I get a painful amount of lag in the sims 4 but sims 3 runs fine for me.
My computer doesn't have enough space/isn't powerful enough to run all sims 3 expansions at once, but I can run a good handful of them at a time, and the lag I get is comparable to other large/detailed games I've played. It's ultimately not a problem for me.
I got 4 after get together came out, bought everything that was available at that point, and spent about 2 weeks playing. I didn't get any lag, but I had a major problem with the game randomly shutting down on 2 different computers. I had no mods/cc in the game at all

if sims 4 and 3 mixed together into one pet expansion it'd be the best thing ever.
For me the biggest issue with sims 4 CAP isn't the lack of horses or clumpy fur- it's the fact that that even though it uses that "paint on pet" thing as a cool Visual it is actually horrendously executed- like the layers in sims 3 were great because that meant pets could recieve some marking from both of their parents.
Like if a gray tabby had kits with a white and black cat the result could be a tabby with white spots- it was great for gameplay because the kits resembled both of their parents.
In Sims 4 it's all flat- the kitten either gets one fur pattern or the other (or something out of the fricking nowhere like a racoon). And the "mixing breeds" has the sane issues like no, they didn't give you new cool option you could make a border collie with a fur pattern of a huskie in Sims 3 too, it just wasn't made to look like something it wasn't.
Making all the fur pattern one layer in Sims 4 was a horrible downgrade that did more harm then good and honestly I do not understand it- why not just go full paint tool on the animal and give us layers, oppaciti sliders and all that good stuff. I mean, they clearly can.

Sims 4 create a pet is the best, but I think Sims 3's option of creating a horse was great! Sure creating a raccoon or a fox is cool too but i really liked horses
I prefer Sims 3's create-a-pet most. The layers were fun.

I like sims 4 the best, but I wish it had layers. It's a bit annoying when you accidentally paint on something you've already done, and when you erase it it cuts straight through to the base coat.
The sims 4 is probably best for creating fur colors and markings and Accessories, Sims 3 is best for creating Horses and other wildlife and Fur shapes, what im saying sims 3 is best for animals bodies and including horses XD sims 2..... urrr? Having more realistic Colors for animals..? Idk. Its a tie for sims 4 and sims 3 for meeeee!
EDIT: Sims 3 is also pretty good for offsprings, The Pups and kittens (AND FOALS!) can have marks from both parents ex. In one of my worlds I have a white and fluffy male dog and a Puggle female (Brown with short fur) And they had two pups, One had a fluffy coat with its fathers ears and the other had a short coat with its mothers ears, Btw they were both white but had spots of their mothers brown color. (Thats how i identify the fluffy pup from its father XD)
