Lol. Metal head reacting to hip hop... "why does he keep pointing at his dick? Is this an exercise video for amnesiacs? Put your hands in the air! Whats my motherfucking name¡?"
If you like this one try these, In Flames - Cloud Connected In Flames - Reroute to Remain In Flames - Crawl through Knives. In Flames - My Sweet Shadow. In Flames - Trigger
Both of you hit some of my favorite songs by them. For additional inputs sake - In Flames - Touch of Red In Flames - Quiet Place In Flames - Alias In Flames - You're Bedtime Story is Scaring Everyone - even with how few words are spoken >:)
Man...Gave me the feels watching you connect with this band! Their lead guitarist is my biggest influence musically and to see someone else connect with it is amazing.
First song I ever heard by them. The music video for it was on the special features for Alone In The Dark (shit movie, amazing soundtrack). Instantly went out and bought all their CDs. Still at the top of the list for me.
YES their album diversity is unreal, they keep it very interesting. I made an exhausting comment on IF recommendations, but yeah DT deserve their time eventually...
In Flames are still my favourite band of all time. Granted, their last three albums leave much to be desired, but, everything up until A Sense Of Purpose is gold in my opinion.
I'm well aware of Jesper's departure and history with depression and alcohol abuse. Also, A Sense Of Purpose is the album that got me into the band. Sure, it's no longer my number one favourite (that honor goes to Soundtrack To Your Escape), but, that album still stands at number 2 for me personally. There are some good tracks on the newer stuff like Fear Is The Weakness or When The World Explodes, but, for the most part, I haven't really been pleased with the post Jesper era. To be clear though, they aren't horrible. Their just meh if you ask me.
im a big fan of in flames, but i would argue that a sense of purpose was a fantastic album, just because something is softer doesnt make it a bad album, just different.
AnimetalViking Right there with you on When the World Explodes, awesome song, but for me nothing tops My Sweet Shadow and Bullet Ride (slightly older, I know).
@@jonteguy I'm a huge fan of the "I, the Mask" album. Wore a shirt to work and at one of the places I had a pick-up, the guy there asked if it was my favorite In Flames album. "I, The Mask, Siren Charms, Clayman and Rerout to Remain and Sound of a Playground Fading". Makes you quite popular among customers when you have a shirt with a band they like.
Yes I love them for that. Not afraid to change up their sound, but still stick to their roots. Those newer songs they dropped recently have that old sound, I love it.
Oh boy, the good old times of In flames. If your want some more of their best songs try to hear December Flower, Jotun and Embody the Invisible. A lot of wonderful riffs and melodies on these ones
I personally would've suggested Zombie Inc, Swim, or Pinball Map first for old IF. For newer prolly woulda' went with Alias, Ropes, or Where the Dead Ships Dwell. Goliaths Disarm Their Davids is up there, too but some songs by IF work better once you have delved deeper into them. Only For the Weak is a good song but I don't think it shows off their full spectrum but can be easy to digest for someone who is fresh to metal.
Battles is an good album, but pretty much everything that they released after Come Clarity sucked...Nothing will beat the Jester Race- Clayman era, they were the KINGS of Melodic Death Metal back in the day
Hey, just wanted to say that you come across as a very intelligent, cultured guy and as a sworn metalhead, I'm very interested in your opinions. It's great to see you appreciating this kind of music! :)
I feel like "Gone With the Wind" into "Doomsday" would be great. Asking to do a lot, but with the way he researches, he would first hear gone with the wind about him trying to cope with cancer, and then the follow up doomsday about the band trying to come to terms with Tom's passing from cancer. Either way can't go wrong!
You're reactions take me back to my middle school years when I first got into this genre and fell in love with it. You are amazing keep doing what you do 💜 love you man!!!
Alex Hefner please don't stop what you do. Tbh your videos get me through the day simply because of your humor and pure heart. Thank you for everything you are 💜💜
In Flames! I been a fan since 2001. You should listen to The Quiet Place or Lord Hypnos or December Flower. The guitar solo on December Flower is probably the best solo in all of metal genre history. They got so many awesome songs. Where the Dead Ships Dwell is awesome. Episode 666, Jotun, Like You Better Dead, the list goes on and on. lol
The Jester Race has the better solo in my opinion, but December Flower is number two! ^_^ But yeah, older In Flames would be cool to see! I listened to them since their first album and actually stopped listening to them by the time Clayman was released.
Daniel r I would love to hear his thoughts on this one. Its fun to look at the story of the song and really enjoy all the pieces of the song that come together beautifully. RIP The REV.
*Are a great band. Their latest work is great. I don't like the elitist mindset where if a band sounds more mainstream then the music is bad. You may not be like that but a lot of old In Flames fans are.
pewukut Yeah I listen to a ton of In flames old and new stuff but the only song from battles I listen to is The end. Just for perspective I made a list of my favorites on Spotify: open.spotify.com/user/simonliii/playlist/5QUEds3Fb2EWa5tkeP2PIt?si=zEXDVwEQS663rwbgQGL3Cg
I'm cool with bands changing even if I don't like the change. It is art after all. I'm certainly no elitist, I listen to Babymetal for fucks sake lol. New In Flames sucks IMO!
Only for the weak is the first song with proper melodeath screams that I heard (and loved) so I can recognize myself in your reaction quite a bit :D It got me deep deep into those more hardcore metal waters. I really like how you break down these songs. I've been listening to these songs for years and learn something new about them from watching these videos.
Love it man. Always happy to see someone enjoying metal. As a metalhead you make me wanna do reaction videos for hip hop songs. The genres have so much in common for crossover if you have the ear for it
This Concert in 2003 was one of the most intense gigs i've ever been to. The first time I believed the guy on stage saying: "You're best crowd we ever had" totally amazing!
Seen in Flames live twice (and a third time at a festival but I didn't stay long) I wasn't impressed until I heard this song, it really is a game changer.
Bro I really have lots of love for your content.i loved metal and hip hop growing up and it was my favorite thing to do to get others to check out metal and see there reactions.so your videos are awesome.
Judging by your reaction to certain bands like Gojira and In Flames, and particularly how you react to certain parts of each song, you certainly enjoy musicianship and the technical aspect to songs. So I would highly recommend Dream Theatre, particularly The Dance of Eternity and Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper. You will LOVE it! And i mentioned this in your Metallica: For Whom the Bell Tolls video, you should definitely do ORION!! Peace.
Dude, I discovered your channel about a week ago and I simply love your enthusiasm you put in your videos! Keep it up, man! I hope you had fun at the trivium concert :) If you wanna get into In Flames more, I recommend 'My Sweet Shadow', 'Sounds of a Playground Fading' or 'Trigger'. Cheers from Germany!
i know iam very late on this. but i had to laugh so hard. becouse i hat a hip hop phase in my youth from about a half year or something like that. and this song brought me back to metal. an now iam watching a hip hop head reacting to it and feeling this song. greetz from germany
I must say you’re bring back so many memories. I was looking at other videos and you popped up so I started watching. I enjoy seeing the joy some of the songs bring to you and it gets me pumped up like I’m hearing this for the first time. Great work !
In flames and soilwork made 2 different songs with them together in the videos. Trigger is in flames's song and soilwork made Rejection Role. Have a look Alex it's super interesting! Regards
strikerromanov i completely agree! It would be awesome to do both songs and music videos in one reaction video. Both bands are incredible but far too underrated.
Hey Alex, I just discovered Your channel one day ago, and I enjoy watching You and Your expressions with a lot of fun! ;-) :-) Thank You for sharing Your Metalreactions!!! Allthough You get tons and tons of hints like „watch this“ and „react to that“ and my chance to get Your attention is very low, I still try to recommend You something very special in Heavy Metal. Since i was a kid, I'm listening to this band, and over the decades their music is still so special and uncomparable to me! I was lucky enough to meet them in person and now I got their autographs tatooed on my arm! Since the beginning in the 80ies there's a special bond between the Fans and their Kings of Metal, as they named them. To make it not even more thrilling - they are called MANOWAR !!!! I considered a lot within the last 30 hours, wich of the hymns would be perfect to listen to, if You don't know Manowar at all, and the one, that shows most of the typicall elements of their magnificent music is „The Power Of Thy Sword“!! It's so majestic, so bombastic, heroic, pathetic, epic, diversified .. I don't want to reveal much more! Just - please - listen to it! And I am absolutely shure - You won't regret it!!!! And You will realize: The Music of Manowar is like a fertilizer for Your chest hair !!!! Thank You so much in advance and headbanging greetings from a german Metalwarrior Ivory Elvenson
Isaac Duplantis Thief vocalist was originally part of Attack Attack! and they are really good live. Without Attack Attack! Beartooth wouldn't have as much influence as they do now in my opinion.
Yes, my guy! Finally some Scandinavian melodic death metal!!! I’ve been hoping! I’ve also recommended. You dug this and want more, why not try Soilwork: Petrichor By Sulphur? Also, Tongue bu the same. Or Weapon of Vanity? Or Rejection Role? Or As We Speak? They have a huge discography. And they’re rad as hell. Still also gonna plug Demon Hunter - Lifewar. Strangely enough, DH has a song “Collapsing” and the guest vocalist is the vocalist from Soilwork. Small world...
The vocalist from Soilwork (Speed) has also done lot of vocals for Italian Melodic Metal band "Disarmonia Mundi". They're great! Check out "Disarmonia Mundi - Mind Tricks 🤘👍
Oh hell yes to Petrichor By Sulphur! Amazing song. Also Weapon of Vanity...but I always thought of that being one song together with Crestfallen and I can't imagine it being listened to on its own.
I fucking cannot comprehend how the weakest song from Clayman and weakest and I would even say the worst song Nerve by Soilwok (god dammit, Stabbing the Drama has so many cool songs, but this one is just awful) are considered the greatest. The Crestfallen, Stabbing The Drama, Distance or Blind Eye Halo are much better songs from that album, but everyone is going apeshit about Nerve every single time. It's just sad.
Soilwork, compared to In Flames, have kept closer to their original sound. Their next album will probably be more heavy again, seeing how they are going back to older logoes and such. But I have loved all of their newest albums. Imo, Soilwork doesn't have one bad album. ALl of them have some weak songs tho.
You should definitely check out some older In Flames that many feels are just better overall. Things like Cloud Connected, Take This Life, My Sweet Shadow, Trigger, Clayman, Crawl Through Knives, Ordinary Story or Come Clarity for example. Also, In Flames and Dark Tranquility sort of pioneered a genre known as the Gothenburg Sound due to them being from Gothenburg, Sweden. It's sort of a more melodic type of metal.
In Flames - Take this life, or just about anything else from Come Clarity. Little bit of a different sound from them, or you could go way back in their catalog to the 90's with something off Lunar strain, Whoracle, The Jester Race or Colony. Have also seen a few other people mention August Burns Red..another great band you should check out. Really unique sound as well IMO. Lots of time signature changes.
WizardLarry Anything Dark Tranquillity !! IMO, they have been way more consistent than In Flames. They can actually mature and evolve while staying true to their sound.
I agree 100%. Dark Tranquility kills In Flames in my eyes, even if I love all pre-reroute to remain IF albums. Mikael is also just better than Anders as a vocalist.
WizardLarry Oh yeah, definitely. Don't get me wrong, I love In Flames and At the Gates too, and think all three groups collectively created and transformed melodeath into what it is today but I think Mikael Stanne's lyrics, vocals, and over all musicianship are superior.
The best "intro black metal" imo is the song: Where dead Angels lie (Dissection). But yeah I do think that most Black is a kinda a bridge to far for this guy at this point in time.
Agreed. Dissection was the first bm band I listened to, and they are a great introduction to this genre, not the only one tho, i'd also recommand Immortal. But here its not really about introducing Alex to BM, Behemoth Is just a cool band to listen to, especially that they are not anymore true black metal.
Alex I've been watching you react for a couple years, this is by far my favorite you did. I've been listening to In Flames for many years, cant believe I didnt see this until today. P.S I love watching you cringe at people getting knocked out lol. I love MMA, I'm happy you're doing those videos.

My favourite In Flames song is Ordinary Story from the Colony album.

Goliaths disarm their davids is their best song imo.
If you like this song you should also react to: Cloud Connected, Ordinary Story, My Sweet Shadow, Jotun, just to name a few more In Flames songs.
i know iam very late on this. but i had to laugh so hard. becouse i hat a hip hop phase in my youth from about a half year or something like that. and this song brought me back to metal. an now iam watching a hip hop head reacting to it and feeling this song. greetz from germany
bro when the song started i got instant chills, excellent choice on the song can't go wrong with only for the weak
Check out In Flames - Moonshield.
Embody The Invisible is another great In Flames song to listen to!!!
Alecin Solidarity joint favourite with Artifacts of the black rain. Not heard an in flames early song I don't like though
Damn I love their tone so much. A truly unique band whos sound changed a bit through out the years, but always managed to sound original.
I must say you’re bring back so many memories. I was looking at other videos and you popped up so I started watching. I enjoy seeing the joy some of the songs bring to you and it gets me pumped up like I’m hearing this for the first time. Great work !
Your edits are the best in the business I swear man😂😂
Listen to some At the Gates
Fuck yes
orion parker slaugher of the soul ;)
Or older In Flames
Nah fam, binded in fear cover by fleshgod
Paul YES!!!
My thoughts as well. Two of my favourite bands.
As I lay dying-the sound of truth
Hey Alex,
I just discovered Your channel one day ago, and I enjoy watching You and Your expressions with a lot of fun! ;-) :-) Thank You for sharing Your Metalreactions!!!
Thank You so much in advance and headbanging greetings from a german Metalwarrior
Ivory Elvenson
as a veteran In Flames fan, I salute you!!!
React To Everytime I Die by Children Of Bodom
Beartooth - In Between
Isaac Duplantis Thief vocalist was originally part of Attack Attack! and they are really good live. Without Attack Attack! Beartooth wouldn't have as much influence as they do now in my opinion.
Corey Mcdaniel both amazing bands!
Jeff Pearce Hell fuckin yeah!
All these metalheads commenting LEGIT AND GREAT bands is making my heart so happy
“Take this life” is another great one from them
Another great song in the same genre is Nerve by Soilwork. Good bands both.
Dayani Mika Soilwork kicks ass
I fucking cannot comprehend how the weakest song from Clayman and weakest and I would even say the worst song Nerve by Soilwok (god dammit, Stabbing the Drama has so many cool songs, but this one is just awful) are considered the greatest. The Crestfallen, Stabbing The Drama, Distance or Blind Eye Halo are much better songs from that album, but everyone is going apeshit about Nerve every single time. It's just sad.
Apeshit eh? Not real sure how saying another great song like Nerve was going Apeshit. Lmao
Michal Mizerák Looks like you're the only one going apeshit about it there bud
*cough* At The Gates too *cough*
*cough* *cough* Alias *cough*
Older? The songs you name here are from the same album as Only For The Weak ar from(Clayman) or albums after that ;)
Uhhhh... this song is from clayman. Which is as old and older than the songs you listed...
those are all new in flames songs tho
Listen Take this Life from In Flames too
In Flames has been my all time favorite band since back in high school. Definitely appreciate this video.
That thing you are doing with your head, that is why i listen to In Flames, it gets me going! Feels good!
Devin Townsend. That is all.
^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ Devin's on another level.
that is all ... that is everything!
I keep suggesting Strapping Young Lad - Love, he's gotta do it at some time, Devin Townsend is one of the most talented people in metal, maybe ever
The Mighty Masturbator is my favorite song from him; goofy ass name, but man that song is an experience. ◘__◘
Please react to Arch Enemy - War Eternal (live at Wacken)
UP! This is insane!
Zombie inc. by in flames
Fuck All That Pop Shit - Probably my favourite guitar solo of all time
Dat solo tho
Absolutely their best.
Shallowness in beauty
ok you have me binge watching your reactions lol love your editing!!
I'm glad there are people who keep open mind about metal. In Flames is definitely a legend, their song's improve my mood at any time.
More In Flames! Try Episode 666 or Pinball Map :)
paulwakefield both are great songs. Older In Flames is awesome.
👍
Pinball map is so good
Wintersun-Sons of winter and stars
Yes! =)
Lots of time signature changes.
dave TBH I don't like Lunar Strain. Mikael's vocals sound like vomit, but they improved immensely in DT albums.
dave But your suggestions are definitely solid.
As a metalhead, i fucking subscribed !.
Love your reaction, and how you told about the lyrics.
Keep the vibe high champ ;)
In Flames is one of the best Melodic metal bands ever. I have seen them three time live now and just absolute love them. So happy your did this one!
Dark Tranquility!!
If you like this, you should try Iridium by Dark Tranquility.
Plz do Behemoth next!!
Its probably too early in his metal experience for behemoth. maybe let him hear some more hardcore then we will go to death xD
No, He doesn't need Hardcore. He liked Gojira. He's gonna love Behemoth.
new Behemoth is really "easy" to hear blackened death imo. Not too nasty, no too growly, good production. Like Gojira, as I said.
But here its not really about introducing Alex to BM, Behemoth Is just a cool band to listen to, especially that they are not anymore true black metal.
lol dude your face is priceless during the solo ahahahaha love it
Love the edits fam! Great vids!
In Flames has always had some of the best lyrics in metal. Especially their older stuff
Credit to Niklas Sundin from Dark Tranquillity for helping Anders translate those lyrics
I'm not sure you might find the documentary a headbanger's journey to be interesting
Avatar - Bloody Angel. It's great!
any one knows where to get that 'nodoby cares' orchestra video?
Alex I've been watching you react for a couple years, this is by far my favorite you did. I've been listening to In Flames for many years, cant believe I didnt see this until today.
P.S I love watching you cringe at people getting knocked out lol. I love MMA, I'm happy you're doing those videos.
August Burns Red- invisible enemy.
Killswitch Engage- this is absolution.
Puppets and wall of death, respectively.
I always use This is Absolution, when i try to tell people about moshpits, after all, the video shows it really good
