Those leather jacks freakin HURT ! Like a piece of dirty galvanized tin. I am enjoying your extended stay in the Keys. I don't know how you are able to fish so much in the winter there. Right now 100-150 miles N-NW in Cape Coral we have been getting the worst winter winds I have seen in 15 yrs ! Have not been able to fish but once in 3 weeks and getting 15mph winds this weekend. God bless you, catch some for me. Those are nice cuda's. If you really want to see the big ones, go to Spanish Key bridge. Damn things get 40 lbs, 1st time I saw them I thought they were Tarpon.
Great video beautiful Baracuda I eat them where legally allowed under 5 lb I cut them in chunks and fry them do the same with pan size Jacks but fried whole / very entertaining
Old Town ePDL - visit your local dealer or if none nearby check the LL Bean link in view products. Supports the channel. I believe they offer free shipping 👍
How do you go about renting a house down there for an extended amount of time? Do u just bite the bullet and pay like 400 a night or is there a better way
We fish down the keys in our kayaks twice a year. always a good time. Just wondering if you would share what hotel / resort you are staying at. Love your channel. Learn lots
Any chance you’d be able/interested in trying to mothership your kayak out to the dry tortugas? I’ve fished there twice and it is amazing. Although, you may not want to deal with the sharks and the goliaths there in a kayak. Either way, looking forward to seeing more.
You mentioned it was the size of a musky. I fish Lake St. Clair back up north and average 100 musky a season. First year down here - since 2021 snowbirding I found out how much more back bone a barracuda has over a musky back home. No comparison. I still hunt cudas down here and find I enjoy catching them more than the muskies back home.
So here in Holland we got pike, who compared to your seafish are very weak. They do one run then its game over even if we use light gear (0,16mm nylon or so). They also have only a few teeth, but yet they manage to break all nylon lines and we have to use a steel underline. Its so weird that these strong fish dont rip your lines with their huge teeth and big power. Faster reeeling in maybe so they dont get the hook far in on the bite?
It’s leatherjacket and I’m surprised you can possibly forget their name after getting pinned by one. I had three tiny ones gilled in my cast net in SC and as I shook the net to try and get them free, I got poked in the back of the hand multiple times. I thought my fishing day was over before it began. Those ^[%[+ hurt!!!
Enjoying the Florida content, making me excited for my trip. I’m heading down to marathon from NJ in a few weeks and stay and a friends place. Hopefully the weather cooperates and it doesn’t blow every day I’m down there and I’ll be able to get out and fish
This. Worst part of cuda fishing is unhooking then releasing. Their teeth can do some damage. Last winter down here I caught a hook in my thumb unhooking one. Hook 8mm deep into the thumb. Off to Marathon from Spanish harbor after slipping the boat. Doctor @ Baptist Health used that string technique. Worked like a charm.
Elias, I see you are fishing with the 'funky worm' 😊 (Title of song by the Ohio Players).Do you have any idea what bait fish that tube worm resembles, or why Barracuda strike it?
Awesome barracuda. My PB was over 50 years ago in the keys at 48”… I was using a bit heavier spinning gear back then and wire leader. I would love to hook one now on my newer and lighter outfits. Great job and of course great video…!!!
Hey Elias, thanks for the video! Awesome stuff. At 13:20 you pulled up a snagged rig and started to say something about how not to fish structure, but it cut off. Can you explain a bit more what you meant?
Glad to see you still using those micro jigs. I always carry a few. I see you've been acquainted with the leather jacket. I think they like very turbulent water. When I get one that's my cue to stop fishing. Good stuff
Nice! I'd take cudas like those any day, all day. If you don't mind my asking: roughly how much do you have in your platform? 7k? Do you have any videos where you show and describe your set up?
It's a 6k kayak with a $300 FF. Didn't add much else besides the tackle on board. I did do an initial impression a few videos back. No clicks from the general audience so it's probably buried.
Hey Elias great to finally get back to watching you do your fishing thing from a yak! I've caught a few cudas to when I lived in So. Cal, they really are fun to catch! Hope to catch more of your videos!
You’re a hell of a fisherman sir!! You make it look so easy. I hope to be half that good someday. I enjoy watching an learning from your videos. I live in NC also.
I catch schoolies and slightly bigger Stripers on that exact twitch bait. Same color. Sweet. Nice to know it works down there. Going to try it on my winter trip to PR. Thanks to this.
Glad to see you got back to the dock with ten fingers. Yowza, I kept waiting for one of those tyrannocudas to go off when you had the jawlock on them boatside. I catch a lot of pickerel here in the northeast, and our pro guide on Lake Champlain referred to them as 'the most dangerous fish in the lake' due to their unpredictability while trying to unhook them. Nice vid again, love the Keys!
I got "leatherjacked" for the first time last spring after fishing in the Keys for decades. Was not fun and it was a month before the spot on my hand wasn't tender. Could have sworn I had removed a similar fish quite a few times in the past without incident. Against the advice of others I made cut bait out of him and did manage to catch some fish.
Bro those Cudas are one of the best fried fish you ever want to eat and they are the best snapper bait you ever want to try especially deep sea fishing!! Please try one and you will be in love just with lemon pepper seasoning, crushed red pepper and lime juice.

I told him I'll use a rag and I did. Well, even using the rag and being cair full. Somehow I got one of those spines down under the fingernail of my thumb. That's fine stayed in there for like two months, Until I finally got it to come out. When I finally got it to come out. It was the best feeling I ever had. I had got so used to having it under my the quick of my thumbnail. When it finally came oit was awesome
@EliasVFishing yea there's a lot of stuff in the keys that can hurt you if you don't know. I always learn the hard way.🙄 if you haven't already, I recommend trying Num Thai restaurant in key largo
@EliasVFishing if you go, I recommend the 1$ sushi menu, and if they have jellyfish, you should really try. The only place I've ever found that has it, it's really good!
To bad you couldn’t snag a red mangrove baracudrum. Thanks for the fun video

Really cool. Summer time those big cudas there? Haven’t seen many on the bridges in the winter.
I'd have a blast catching those barracuda too. The bowfin of the keys. Gets no respect.
I'd always have a nagging fear that a big bull shark might take interest in my kayak
Irrational fear unless you have fish splashing right off your kayak. They’re after the fish not you.
Great video beautiful Baracuda I eat them where legally allowed under 5 lb I cut them in chunks and fry them do the same with pan size Jacks but fried whole / very entertaining
North and east winds really push the fish off of the flats. I was told to go tuna fishing when the easterlies blow. Thanks for the video!
Now that is a head full of teeth. Nice video looked like a lot of fun.
Cheers
Wind outta the East, fish bite least. Wind outta the West, fish bite best ! 🐡
Great content. I always learn something new when watching your videos! Thank you.
Like to see a goofy Sargent major/porkfish/cuda catch clean cook- although I guess I could just head down there and do it myself.
Great Barracuda's!
Good Afternoon ELIAS / I was wondering what kind of power drive Pedal you using n how I can get one
Old Town ePDL - visit your local dealer or if none nearby check the LL Bean link in view products. Supports the channel. I believe they offer free shipping 👍
Cuda are a vastly underestimated gamefish in my opinion. So much fun to fight on light tackle.
Elias GOTDAAAMNIT that is a huge ass barracuda 😮😮😮😮

Awesome sauce...you know it's trouble had me laughing!
You're a brave soul being out there on that kayak.
Hello, greetings, friend, those barracudas have a good fight. Could you tell me the location so I can launch my kayak in that area?
Private launch at the place I was staying
Thanks bro
Would really like to see a tutorial on how to build those tubes yourself, always enjoy your videos!
Message Gene - he makes them for me. Video description

Elias I swear Baracuda must be salt water Musky.

Creg key I worked on that old house in the day.
was that yellow and black fish some type of grunt?? if so what kind ??
Porkfish!
Always love staying at Topsiders!
Great vid brotha man!! Looks like fun 🤙
toothy critters - pretty colors on those fish
Love your kayakin videos man 🚣 love the peace it bring when it’s just you and the water.
That unfinished house you were fishing next to has been sitting that way for over 30 years!
It’s leatherjacket and I’m surprised you can possibly forget their name after getting pinned by one. Easy with a boat on windy days. Kayak sucks on NE
Leave the 'cudas in the water. We believe your estimate! Your fingers are more important!

Enjoyed watching! When you headed back up to Wilmington?
I’m back here now catching up on stuff, but I’ll be on the road again most likely soon 👍
Why are you mad about spoken using jigs around structure when that’s most of your fishing habits
100 yards of 10lb mono? Cmon
So darn good at keeping that line tight!
Thanks for the refresher course. Big fish - big teeth - big fun. Small fish - small spines - big hurt. We won't make the trip without a fish-grip.
Elias, I see you are fishing with the 'funky worm' 😊 (Title of song by the Ohio Players).Do you have any idea what bait fish that tube worm resembles, or why Barracuda strike it?
All I know those large barracudas are pretty difficult to fool on most other lures imo.
Those are some of the biggest barracuda I've ever seen! Good job.
Some awesome fish, great work. Thank you for sharing

10lb mono + a Walmart jig
Glad to see you still using those micro jigs. I always carry a few. I see you've been acquainted with the leather jacket. I think they like very turbulent water. When I get one that's my cue to stop fishing. Good stuff
What a fight.
Great, thank you
Wish I was there😊
Elias, Enjoying the Key’s trip! What is the lower back pad you use again? Didn’t see an affiliate link. Thank you!
It’s a Kayak Kushion. Not sure if they sell outside their website
Nice! I'd take cudas like those any day, all day.

Tight lines and screamin' reels!

Nice!
Big Cuda, Big Crevalle and Tarpon are always great for a sleigh ride. Great job as always man. You always sniff em out.
You’re a hell of a fisherman sir!! You make it look so easy. I hope to be half that good someday. I enjoy watching an learning from your videos. I live in NC also.
Got tired of catching monster mutton’s?😅
Not yet. Wind didn’t work out for them!
best fishing channel you show average joes fishing content thanks for sharing
Great video Elias! What kind of water shoes are you wearing? and do you like them? thanks!
One of the generic Amazon ones - not bad imo
I was down Florida caught them spines in hands every day. Sure felt it. Navarre Beach dock
insane first bite!!!
Absolute fishin ASSASSIN!! keep on crushin it out there brother!
If you need a fishing buddy for a February trip down there fishing let me know.
I catch schoolies and slightly bigger Stripers on that exact twitch bait. Same color. Sweet. Nice to know it works down there. Going to try it on my winter trip to PR. Thanks to this.
Elias, when is the collab with @geneken7236 going to happen? Figured he moved closer to you and you guys would get out together again. What gives?
He’s about 7 hours from me.
😎👍

That was a big one !!
Never noticed the eye of Sauron tattoo on your arm 😂fellow LOTR nerd in me respects the hell out of it. Great video as always 👍🏻

wish you had done a catch n cook
unfairly underrated table fare
Great
I don't see how anyone can leave that place.
Those cudas are around the top of my list of saltwater fish to catch. I make a special chatter bait that drives them insane
Good to know they eat chatterbaits! I seem to have a hard time getting large ones to commit to lures.
@@EliasVFishing if I knew where to send, I’d make you some

@EliasVFishing your welcome, you won't be disappointed
@EliasVFishing if you go, I recommend the 1$ sushi menu, and if they have jellyfish, you should really try. The only place I've ever found that has it, it's really good!
should try bahia honda in big pine key..also seven mile bridge
I did two videos at Bahia Honda this month
❤😍❤️👋🥇👋❤️😍❤️
Don't know about you but I would have felt a bit crowded with that cuda in the boat with me.
Get used to it 😂
🎣🤙🏼
good
Those were some scud missile Cudas.
Appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos! 👍
😊
