I think it all depends on your genes. Like if lung cancer or heart disease does not run in your family. And your family has been smoking for ages. Then your chances are probably decreased.
Dunno... all I'll say is that there are always a few exceptions to the rules. Libressman may be right in that Lemmy blows most of it out. I think that's the so-called 'hotbox' method. Still, I can't imagine even he doesn't have any problems. Lemmy's already been sidelined healthwise recently, and I'd think that's due to his smoking habit. As far as saying smoking kills, I had to try and revive my landlord's husband last September. She came in, knocked on my door hard (good thing I was home), and we pulled him down from the living room sofa. But we saw the face of death (as in it was quite blue at that point) on him, scarier than any horror movie... :( He quit smoking 6 months before that, but it was too late to save him. He also got into drinking heavily because of his severe knee pain. God Bless him, he was a cool, sometimes brash guy that served the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and worked for many years as an electrician. He was 63 when he died last year.
Chen Lau Ah, didn't know exactly when Lemmy quit. Thanks for that bit of info. I think he still likes the booze, though. Joked about it last Saturday on VH1 Classic's 'THAT METAL SHOW'.
My great nan, smoked till the day she died- Aged 103, died of old age :) Sadly my nan and grandad died to lung cancer thanks to smoking before they were 60, but yeah, one hundred and three years motherfuckers!
Dad 68, still smoking, Grandma, 93 still smoking.

You still smoking?
My dad, 55 years old turning 56 in Jan, still smoking
Does he still smoke?
@@RFvechi582 He did, all the way until 66 when he passed away.
@@SolidMike84He lived a long time! What was the cause of death?
@@RFvechi582 Kidney failure, he was a lifelong alcoholic. And if he had pulled through that, he'd still have incurable and inoperable cancer.
@@SolidMike84My condolences man, so that means the smoking wasn't what caused the death...
my grand grandfather smoked almost all his life and died 83 years old
