I finally understand what happens in the ending now: The police was planning to ambush the racers at the end of the race, but you were fast enough to finish before they could arrive. The woman you were racing against, however, was too late to leave the scene and got tailed by the cops. She then has an idea and decides to lead the pursuit to another racer so they could "share" it. That leads straight to the intro cutscene.

Zero Hours it was optional. In PS2 version of the game go to player settings and switch driver from male to female. You can see her during cutscenes like when being busted by the cops.
BMW M3 GTR you always play as a guy on a PC and an Xbox. But you could choose to switch to female driver to player setting on the PS2 version of the game.
You're a terrible driver, you beat the game on the easy😂 level and you still almost don't win the race lol, a real driver from EA games should only beat the game on the hard level.
I think these police choppers in the game were based off the Little Bird, a light weight attack helicopter that was developed for the US air force for close aerial ground recon and light ground attack capability against enemy light, possibly heavy vehicles and also infantry, which is also ideal for snipers when the heli is in a steady hover position the snipers can just sit on the sides of the helicopter and pick off infantry one by one..
