I'm on a same page with you, Mark. As someone who has immigrated from an ordinary country to the United States, I can say that contrary to all my perceptions of the United States as a superpower, this country in many ways resembles a third-world country more than a superpower and unfortunately things here are getting worse year by year.. By the way, I prefer your videos on geopolitics more than the others. Keep it up Mark❤

    Hi!
In a nutshell, our world is experiencing a hard time with many wars, starvation, crises..
etc, but I think it doesn't mean it'll collapse soon. The same situation had the world experienced in 1963, we were on the brinks of a WW lll between US and the soviet Union about Cuba, fortunately nothing had happened.
    Take care!

Hey Mark, I recently started watching your videos (got a CELPIP exam to do) I have lived in Vancouver, BC for about two years. Thank you so much for your content it really helps and I am glad for it. About geopolitics, I'd like to add a few points; firstly, we're into climate change and countries in the tropics are suffering from high temperatures never recorded before. On top of that, we've been noticing the spring of the new technology - AI; which sounds promising but we know what's gonna happen, lots of people being unemployed because of those machines. I really do not like anything about this and I hope (really do) you and I are terribly wrong.

Many events that happen nowadays were predicted by prophets. It's so popular to turn to the prophets for predictions, that every month there are some predictions on popular TV shows. And they come true.

In Russia when people speak about war in Ukraine they cannot use a word 'war', they should say 'a Special Military Operation' or its abreviation. The word 'war' is prohibited when speaking about Ukraine, and if the word 'war' pronounced the person could go to jail (especially if the person is not supporting the war) and if other person would complain to police.
If there is an explosion, their media cannot use a word 'bang' or some loud words, but should use more muted 'clap'.

    Hey Mark. Thanks for this.
I am wondering if you can make a video about a phrase that is confusing, which is " I couldn't agree more." A coworker told me that he couldn't agree more," and I took it as if he disagreed. I told him that he told me that he "couldn't agree" so he he added that he said that he "couldn't agree more" in his words he says he meant he agrees when he infact said he "couldn't agree more"! How on earth is this right? This is so confusing! If you can make a video about this, it will be helpful if you can!
    Thanks!

  • @leongchunnam1569
    @leongchunnam1569 9 місяців тому +1

The male counterpart of Karen is Kevin. Kevins are not as common as Karens on UA-cam because either men behave better in public or (more likely) they're too ubiquitous to be newsworthy. 😂Chad is new to me. It's a nice name. So is Mark. Hence, it's wonderful when Mark is a Chad. 😊

Hi Mark! About changing meaning of words. In the middle of 20th century not only German empire (if it could be named so) were collapsed. The Great Britain (really empire) disintegrated for instance. But I didn't hear that they changed words meaning. I clearly remembered the times of crash Soviet Union and I remember only several key words (perestroika....)but not changing means. So that I disagree whith you. Besides I also remember a lots of reports Soviet TV, that West is going under but as I see it does but very very slowly 🥸

Hey Mark, sometimes I roll back your list of videos. That's why I leave my comment that late. Sorry.
Thanks for teaching these interesting meanings of names. In German we say that similar. It isn't honorable to be called a Kevin or a Justin. Same thing. 😊
You mentioned that the collapse of the German Empire started with changing of some word's meaning. I never heard that before. I totally agree with you that the German leader of 1930th has been very arrogant. They said that the jews are guilty for everything and stupid things like that. This has been the beginning of the end.
Nowadays, it is forbidden to say normal sentences which were used by Nazis back in the 30th. By the way, here we have to communicate in German. We can't change that Nazis used German language as well. 🙄 Not long ago the German government has sued a right-wing politician because he used the sentence "Alles für Deutschland" (Everything for Germany) in one of his speeches. This is common German. Apparently it is a Nazi-saying. I don't understand this world anymore.
Could you explain in which way or what kind of words German leaders has changed in the 1930/40th, please? I'm very interested.
Something will come for sure. I totally agree with your opinion. We often debate about the things. Will see what's gonna happen....
That's why let's stay happy and healthy. 😊
    Thanks in advance.
    Take care
    Michael from Germany 🇩🇪

      Hi Michael,
Thanks for your comment! Yeah, I also don't understand the world. The only explanation is that Satan is working hard to label evil as good and good as evil. Everything is upside down which indicates that the end is near. Here's a link to an article discussing word changes in the Third Reich. Sometimes UA-cam blocks links. Can you let me know if you get it?

  • @maloveng

Ah… I think Karen is Mrs. Kim in Korea. More specifically, she is middle-aged. She has a very strong character and can sometimes be rude to get her intentions across. They don't think about rules or consider others. As far as I know, the reason we call them Mrs. Kim is because Kim is a very popular last name and Mrs. indicates their age. However, those who are named Mrs. Kim don't feel offended because we know it's not meant to be offensive. There are many homophones, but we don't get confused because we understand things in context.
Words also have a life cycle - they are born, grow, and eventually die. These days, many new words are being born. Sometimes we don't know their meanings, but people use them because they understand them. Even if I don't know the meaning of a word, certain words start in certain ages or industries. If a word doesn't spread and isn't used by many people, it will die out. But if a word is used by many people, it will gradually grow and spread throughout the world.
