I relocated from the UK to Reno in January 1999 and was there until February 2003. Miss that place although I have to say I drove to San Fran on a regular basis for record shopping.
No.. I get it, I like driving to SF as well.. Although, I am pretty good at hunting down records here locally.. Glad to hear you know all about my hometown here in Reno ! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for watching Brian.. Bill called me, and postponed till this Sunday.. Which works.. the dust had been getting to me, better to mask up next time !
Ahhhh . Thank you, Richard ! I am excited for my first concert ever video that will upload this morning.. Elvis International Hotel July 31 1969. Dad was the 2nd Maitre D of the hotel, so we were all ready to go that first night.. Will tune in to your 2nd " Space Age/ Exotica " showing later today ! ✌️
Hi JT!!! i really don't know what i enjoy the most, your thrift store finds or your cool stories..... Reno Coffee co. seems a cool place to have a cup of joe while searching for vinyl!! cheers and be well
I did just that today, coffee at Reno Coffee Co. ! I went back and splurged on Peter Green's " The End Of The Game " .. a Hendrix like jam record with him really stretching out his ability as a guitarist ! Hope to find some more metal at Bill's Garage this Sunday.. ✌️
Haven't lived in Reno for almost 20 years, but there was a St. Vincent or Salvation Army at Oddie and Sutro that was always worth going into. Found an original Velvet Underground and Nico with the banana sticker still attached, and also my prized Shriners marching band bass drum with painted logo on the heads that has an honored place in my home.
Hey Mike ! That was the best time to thrift here in Reno, and Sparks ! I came home here in 2001.. Born here, I go to that store a lot.. I work nearby in Downtown Reno. To score the debut Velvet Underground is really something ! ( Its never happened to me ) Gonna get one in Japan next month, or Bangkok.. Prices are much better, there..✌ Thank you very much for watching.. This one ran a bit long !
Reno Coffee sounds like a cool place. You've got the thrift store touch as I've tried to go in more often with little success. I always enjoy Louis Prima. I love the Las Vegas stories.
Thanks Tony ! Flip video's of any kind are always my favorite record video's ! We will be in Japan and Thailand.. early April. I will be filming again, a few select record shops, and vinyl.is cheaper and just as good as Japan in Bangkok ! ✌️
Alright .. will do ! Steve from " All The World's A Stage" has that contest.. " What Was Your 1st Concert"... Mine was Elvis opening night, July 31 1969 ! I have shared it before, but would like to lay it on thick ! The new film was incredibly spot on.. it gave me chills.. so accurate with The International Hotel and Las Vegas in '69.
Awesome store that Reno Coffee Co. You scored some cool records JT. Glad you found a copy of One of These Nights by the Eagles, a terrific album by them. I like all their stuff including those commercial monsters like Hotel California and The Long Run. Right in my wheelhouse. Enjoyed the video!!!
They are great albums, most definitely, and when in the mood. I should put on " The Long Run" and HC . " Life In The Fast Lane" is the song I don't care for.. ✌️
Eagles really streamlined the genre.. when they brought Tim Schmit on, he went from being broke to instant wealth.. ( I think they paid him as a side man ). Country Rock became one of the top styles that the masses liked ! That's quite an accomplishment by Don and Glenn !
Louis Prima is terrific ! Buddy Greco used to appear at the old lounge at The Flamingo.. I was young, but my Dad would bring me to work with him, so i would walk by the lounges and see all the greats performing. Buddy Greco was cool.. his "Lady Is A Tramp" Cooks !! Swings hard.. Mr. Sinatra's version is almost as good , and Sinatra called Buddy his favorite saloon singer !
Thanks Man ! Yeah.. I try to film well.. I am a movie buff, so I am conscious not to move the camera too fast.. slow pans work the best, and getting a good angle on the records is key too ! See you Steve ! ✌
I always seem to see Peter Green albums that I've never seen before and now, there is another one...End of the Line. It looks like they still have some good titles for a lower price, though some are a bit high (the coffee co.). I was hoping you would pick up the Louis Prima records, I never see anything by him around here. Any time you find the earlier Steve Miller Band records is a great day, I love his early music the best. Sailor is a great album. I would love to find that Mondo Cane soundtrack album, great find! They are all great finds at great prices. Thank you for helping me prove that there are still great finds in the thrift stores when you know where and when to look. That store where I found that Grateful Dead record for 25 cents had what I thought was a copy of The Eagles "One of These Nights" and I was excited to find that one for a quarter, but it ended up being a Johnny Mathis record inside the jacket. Oh well, you can't win them all (but you can sure try!)
Mike.. Those are the cleanest Louie Prima records I have ever picked ! They play dead quiet.. amazing ! And Oh Yeah.. You win with that .25 cent "Europe '72" !!! KILLER ! 🤣That Peter Green LP is the one that he did right after he left The Mac ! It was so clean, with the shrink, I am such a huge Peter Green fan. I feel like buying it ! "Africa Addio" is the other LP soundtrack that is done by the team that did the music for Mondo Cane ! ( I bought that one online, after I missed picking it up in Virginia City ).
That was a fun run. I have all the ones that you picked up except peanut butter conspiracy. Also have quite a few of albums you flipped through at the coffee shop store and most of the grail wall. But not Madonna.
Both Steve Miller and Boz Skaggs are legendary here in Madison WI since they played together in some bands around here (Ardells?) while they were in school. Cool finds!
It always throws me off with Stevie Miller, because he grew up in Texas , and then went back up north for school, and where he was born ! Thanks for correcting me on this one..👍
That was a fun run. I have all the ones that you picked up except peanut butter conspiracy H quite a few of albums you flipped through at the coffee shop store and most of the grail wall. But not the Madonna
You have a very nice collection, for sure ! I had to have Peanut Butter Conspiracy ! Paid up at 20.00 at Salvation Army. They wouldn't come down in price.. but online , they were much pricier ! Thanks Harry..✌
I saw the Erroll Garner album at the second store. I’m a big fan of his. You don’t see him in the wild too much. Pittsburgh Jazz artist. Love his stuff. The Art Blakey album makes it all worthwhile. When I was young and a budding trumpet player, I wanted to be Harry James. Ghost in the Machine is a great album.
I see Erroll Garner often, out here.. and I do enjoy his records. Clifford Brown with Art Blakey sounds terrific ! Thanks, Tony ! Good to know you play music, and jazz at that ! ✌️
Hi JT! I see that Dead Kennedys album behind you! Right on! $.89 cent deals. I have a couple of Louie Prima albums from my dad's collection. Its fun! Cool stories from your youth and showbiz. I have that Buffalo Springfield collection on compact disc. That copy of Ghost In The Machine looks brand new!
Hey Mike ! I have slowed down on the thrift hauls this last week, although.. I am going to Bill's after work, for a early evening dig ! I have a Hat Light that I will use ( Miners lamp ) Thanks for checking this one out.. just finished my "First Concert" video for Steve..✌
I didn't really start getting the DK's completely until my friend .. Mike ( go figure ) bought me that deluxe Cd of "Fresh Fruit" 2004 or so.. Jello's vocals finally made sense and perfect for who they are. I have always been a Bad Religion fan, and later ..Agent Orange, and Fugazi. NOFX used to play at my Dad's Bar in the 1990's !
Thanks Gary.. I Want to do the "First Concert" contest. Your last video was excellent ! It's a lot of work.. isn't it ! That's why I only do one a week these days.. editing ! ( And more time with Sean & Jum )
I would spend a lot of time (and money) at Reno Coffee Co. The Sentinals album jacket was just killer. "The Wildest!" jacket is awesome as well. Quite a score with Ghost in the Machine. I have that Jazz Tone title; supremely good sound quality. Lots of great finds as usual.
Glad to know you have the Clifford Brown / Art Blakey.. Sounds fantastic for a record from 1957 ! Is "Ghost In The Machine" pricy, now ? I will look it up..Reno Coffee is getting to where there are still a few good buys, and the rest.. normal pricing.
Yeah.. I checked that one out.. I have bought so many, I want it, although the jacket was not the best.. the vinyl looked decent, though.. Thanks for mentioning it, I will keep a look out and can ask Graham if he has another copy ! ( He owns the consession ).
Hey Jt. Some very cool finds, the Canned Heat at the end was a no brainer. I knew you couldn’t pull the trigger on that Peter Green album. $40?? You’ll find it better and cheaper down the road. Cheers brother.
Yeah.. Graham is getting pricy, and he knows someone will buy it ! It is in super shape, with the shrink ! Bill might have one, anyway..I have a darn good Canned Heat collection now, I am proud to say ! Thanks Jack..🙏
Do you know " Rare Bird" As Your Mind Flies ? 1970 UK Psych ? Been wanting one.. really fantastic, if you like great psych ! Might go back.. 25.00 is a slightly low price for the shape that it is in..
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Jt, I have 3 Rare Bird albums, but I don’t have that one. It caught my eye as well, but I thought it was priced a little high. Don’t see it often though. 😎😎
@@vinylmartini3377 I just bought said record on e bay for 13.00 OG in the shrink.. Ill find out how the vinyl is when I get it. The seller was very vague on the wax ! Yuck !! Discogs mid price is 30 to 50.00 for a NM right now, with the OG white jacket. Very cool that you have a few "Rare Bird" records ! Nice !!! 😎
CORRECTION : Steve Miller was Born up north in Wisconsin.. Moving to Texas in 1950 where he later met, and helped Boz Scaggs out with guitar, so they could play in a band together ! Both of them moved up to Madison, where they attended University. Steve and Boz eventually made it out west to San Francisco.. but Steve went on to Europe before landing in Chicago getting on with Paul Butterfield, and jamming with the great bluesmen at the time.. Muddy, Howlin' Wolf And Buddy Guy !!
This weekend with the long weekend I was listening to on vinyl Queen News of the world, Pink Floyd wish you were here , Kiss unmasked, Van Halen 5150, Meet the Beatles, Beatles 65 , Beatles 2nd album and Beatles yesterday and today, on cd pure 80's Blue album, Iron Maiden fear of the Dark. nice Buffalo Springfield , Steve Miller band , Allman Brothers , sone nice pickups. lots of nice pick ups .
Wow ! Great Listening there Mark ! I would spin all of those records ! The only ones I don't have on vinyl are.. VH 5150.. and "Fear Of The Dark" 9 Have them on Cd Though.. Isn't it fun, and enjoyable spinning records !! 🍀
Good to Have "Live At Sahara Tahoe".. My Dad was gonna be the showroom Maitre D at first ( 1965 ) That's when the hotel first opened.. then they wanted him at The Sahara Las Vegas. I have my ways to store more records, but true.. at the pace that I am collecting..
I was wondering if you had any more information about dates for the Reno Record Fair? I live in Reno and always travel out of town for record fairs but would really love to see one in here in Reno. Thanks for the great videos! Love to watch the thrift store finds, that's where I find most of mine as well. Keep diggin!
Hey Jeff ! Glad that you contacted me.. Go to Reno Coffee, and grab a business card for Graham.. It's his concession. If they are out of cards, just ask them for his contact. I'm not sure when.. I missed the one last September, Graham will know. Hope to see you around town looking for records ! And so appreciative for your support on my vids ! ✌
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Cool, I will be looking for you. I go out thrifting somewhat randomly. I didn't even know about that new SA thrift store in Sparks until you went there. Thanks for that tip! Also, you sure did find a good spot there at Bill's garage.
@Jeff Adair Thanks ! We have been acquaintances for a while, I would share, but he wants it exclusive. Networking really works in finding new honey holes !
Jt, I was watching this just before my coffee break...I had to pause & go get a coffee ha, ha I like that term "the wall of pain" it's so true 😂 That Louis Prima record is Wild!! I have that Buffalo Springfield. It's such a great comp. I've just recently got into those first few Steve Miller records. Like most I only knew The Joker, Fly Like An Eagle, etc. Those earliest records are fantastic! You always amaze me with what you can find for so little $$'s. Cheers...Ben
Yeah, brother.. thanks ! Cool that you discovered the first 5 Stevie Miller albums, every one of them are very good ! Louis Prima music swings hard.. I love it, always have ! Buddy Greco's take on " Lady Is A Tramp" swings even harder.. Sinatra's favorite " Salloon Singer"...and Prima too ! ✌️
Can't believe I missed you yesterday! But I was helping my son move two beds and a dresser from our house to his new apartment in Kensington. The Ashes sound just as good as The Peanut Butter Conspiracy and The Chambers Brothers. Nice Martin Denny Exotica Easy Listening Cocktail Lounge Elevator Musac Record J.T. 🦓
Kensington is such a nice neighborhood ! If I would have stayed, that would have been a good place for me to land, and or buy ! ( 2001 ). You are right.. The Ashes are the best material on that record, although I only spun it once ! 💫
@@jtsrecordroom3963 It won't stop raining here in San Diego! I could care less but it does cause a dangerous commute for my wife driving to and from downtown Monday through Friday!! And she's a great driver but other people, not so much, as you have probably seen. 🦓
@Alan Boas Yeah.. I'm sure she is as careful as she can be. We need all this snow at the high elevations, twice as many people now.. the Sierras have tons of snow this year, good water for all !
Loved to see your excitement as you were crate digging JT, it’s just a great feeling. The prices were a bit up and down in the coffee shop but you managed to pick up some good records. There were also some great records on the dreaded wall of pain 😁 You did well in the thrift keeping that guy out 😂 Mike🎸
I'm pro with dealing with other thrifters.. some put a wall up, and some like me, we get along and share ! I did hurry, though.. Those records were .89 cents Mike !!! We will be in England in 2024, not sure when, spring or fall sounds about right.
I love all of that mix of interesting records that Graham puts out at Reno Coffee Co. He is still a smidgen below mid Discogs pricing, and some records are a good deal. This was a tough one to edit..I'm laid out with seasonal allergies here in the high desert.. I will bounce back.. Your friend. JT

Hello ! Thanks for watching.. Reno is 7 to 8 hours north of Las Vegas.. I like going down there on occasion. 10 dollars would be a low price for a good Impulse! or Blue Note vinyl copy.. even 2nd press ( U.S. ) Shopping for vinyl here is fantasic ! Lots of choices, and good finds at thrift stores, too !

I missed the one last September, Graham will know. Hope to see you around town looking for records ! And so appreciative for your support on my vids ! ✌
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Will do, thanks Jt!
@@jeffadair9652 Sure thing ! I am usually out and about on Monday and Tuesday.. and in Sparks stores often ! Reno as well..
Jt, I was watching this just before my coffee break...I had to pause & go get a coffee ha, ha
I like that term "the wall of pain" it's so true 😂 That Louis Prima record is Wild!!
The Ashes sound just as good as The Peanut Butter Conspiracy and
The Chambers Brothers.
Nice Martin Denny Exotica Easy Listening Cocktail Lounge Elevator
Musac Record J.T.
🦓
Kensington is such a nice neighborhood ! If I would have stayed, that would have been a good place for me to land, and or buy ! ( 2001 ). You are right.. The Ashes are the best material on that record, although I only spun it once ! 💫

@Alan Boas 💨💦 It's snowing. .
JT
i would love to visit this record stores in the US and buy a lot of them - best regards from Berlin - my sister live there also. in Vegas..me must meet there...i am looking for Blue Note and Impulse records 💙💛 👍 - we pay here in Germany up to 10 euro for old records...
Nino Olivieri is amazing...
@@jtsrecordroom3963 i must go there asap....hooe to visit you soon...my sister live in Henderson..
@mySoundbook Thank you for watching ! Reno is 450 miles north of Las Vegas.. about 8 hour drive through the desert. If you are here.. message me on my latest video, and I can give you some tips for record buying. or.. If I am free. possibly meet you. ✌️
A Spoonful of Cathy Young is well regarded and $25 is a good price but appreciate it was VG so perhaps not if it was low end VG grade. Great thrift finds. Regards Nigel.
I did notice Cathy Young, and on Mainstream ! Graham's prices have really gone up, I used to pull 3 for 10.00 out of that store less than 2 years ago.. still good buys and rarities to be found ! ✌️
Yep. I have seen that Cathy Young for $100. But nice finds!
@@dotsloops7486 Really ! I might go back.. the condition was maybe VG VG+. Think I will take another look ! Thanks for noticing.. Its on Mainstream I believe.
I'm gonna leave that one alone.. I will find another, down the road.. don't like the jacket condition, either ! Thank you..✌
Really enjoyed the video JT
Thanks, Bro !! I bet the weather is getting nice in East Tennessee ! ✌️ Will see what you are up to...
@@jtsrecordroom3963 a few good days and some rainy days.. either way I'm still out and doing what I do..lol
@happyhippy the vinyl guy You got me laughing.. and that's a good thing ! I'm smiling ! 😁
@@jtsrecordroom3963 did not mean to say naked 😳 I speak to text cuz in my right hand kind of shakes a little.. I meant to say I'm sure it is out doing what I do.. sorry lol
@happyhippy the vinyl guy That was funny, though.. and in a way, it worked ! LOL
You flip past too many records I would've grabbed. Ha ha ha.- JT from So I Married A Record Collector.
Right !! At Reno Coffee they were a bit pricy, although I am pleased with the 4th Eagles LP that has been eluding me, and that killer Canned Heat NM at 12.00. " Rare Bird" OG I found today in the shrink for 13.00 total on E Bay.. instead of 25.00 are Reno Coffee ! See you, JT ✌️
Prices seem very high, especially since most are VG not even VG+. Been looking for that Peter Green forever, but $40 ?!?! Discogs shows $25 medium
Hey Jon ! Graham ( The vendor ) is getting pricy.. although that Peter Green is NM easily ! I want it, and in that condish.. it's priced under Discogs NM ( In the shrink ). Thanks for watching ! ✌️
I think the cheapest price I ever paid was 50 cents for the Animated Egg
Dean.. I have only heard of this late 60's album.. gonna listen in a bit.. Thanks for bringing this up ! Cool !! ✌️
I was just looking back at your comments. You always have right on the money things to say... Aum, Ahmad Jamal.. Animated Egg, great, great music ! 🫡
Mondo Cane is pronounced "Kah-Nay". Italian
Thanks for that. I really like to get it right.. I appreciate that bit of info ! 👍 Thanks for watching, especially.
I don't know why it went twice.
No problem !
Hard to justify high prices compared to Bills garage
Absolutely ! I just bought Peter Green's " The End Of The Game".. have always wanted it, amazing free form recording by Greeny ! 40.00 Mint condition, actually a bit lower than Discogs, and I could hold it in my hands and see it ! Going to Bill's again this Sunday... Thanks, Dean !
That Peter Green is very expensive.🤦♂️
It is, and in NM condition, and pretty desirable.. I want one.. agreed, not at that price. Thanks, Silvio ! 🤚
The big question is, did you wind up dancing on Valentine’s Day?
I fell asleep ! Hehe.. 🤣 We will tonight.. " Oh Marie" or " I'm Just A Gigilo" is a good one to dance too.. any of the Louie songs. actually. My wife is quite the romantic!
Really enjoyable video JT-your joy for diggin' is really infectious.
I'm with you re The Eagles-although to be fair I haven't really heard much of thier recordings apart from the obvious. However I do own a copy of The Bernie Leadon-Michael Georgiades Band - Natural Progressions LP which is worth owning for just for this one track alone-
Superb laid back mellow AOR & cheap as chips as well!!
Keep the videos coming!!

I'm listening now, and looking for this record. . I will run into it, I'm sure. I was in a band with Gene Clark's son, I always enjoy Bernies songwtiting, playing, and collaborating with Gene ! Thanks for the listen, and especially for watching ! ✌️
