That announcer is the true embodiment of professionalism. Even when facing his own demise he doesn’t stop working.
Also this episode honestly some of the most kickass action scenes I’ve ever seen. Like a mix of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Dragonball Z
The action definately looks more realistic than ATLA's but I miss the Kung Fu choragaphy of the old series

The Beifong’s are all badasses I SWEAR lmao Lin is basically Batman and it’s amazing! It’s hard to understand what it’s like to have ur bending taken away because obviously we don’t have it. Given that these people are born with bending and have it their whole lives it’s safe to assume it’s similar to a body part to them. Even if they cheated in a game or were jerks, I don’t believe I would wish for them, to lose their bending. It’s similar to losing your legs, or arms
While that is true, I feel like it's only that severe for people who become overly dependent on it. If a person lived their life with a healthy balance, it'd really suck but it wouldn't be as bad as a limb. Maybe about as bad as being unable to play an instrument anymore. That only sucks based on how much you loved playing the instrument.

I would have liked to see laws in place where bender crimes against non-benders have a higher punishment than regular crime - maybe some sort of device that hits the chi-blocking points to simulate having their bending taken away for the term of the sentence.
When you say that there are families that are mixed in terms of bending, that is a logical explanation. But, even if families were mixed the children would either be: non benders, or ONLY have one element from their parents. I hope that you see this and that this helps. Great video!
Edit: also, Tenzin is an example of this because he could’ve been a water bender instead of an air bender, or he could not even have been a bender at all.

My theory is that a major issue in Tenzin and Lin's relationship was if/how many children to have. That Tenzin would feel an obligation to have lots of children to perpetuate an air bender population and Lin would be very driven in her police career.
@@alharairah2214 that's always been my theory too. She seems like the type to love her job more than being a mother, and he is dedicated/pressure by being the Last Airbender and his father's legacy.

Something I never noticed. Korra throws Mako at the Wolf-Bats and hits them with a fire bending move as they walk away in their victory strut. Then, Lin throws Korra at the Equalists and she hits them with a firebending move as they escape in their victory. Only difference (if I can remember correctly), is that the leader of the Wolf-Bats was knocked down and Amon was the only one who wasn't knocked down.
Korra is a master of earth, water and fire but with the traditional styles. In republic city, traditional bending is too destructive so rn shes focusing on modern bending and air bending. So yeah she is a master in her own right.
Fire is the easiest element to use, since you dont need a source to pull it from.

In response to 17:10, I will remind you guys in the first episode that white lotus guy said to korra, "you excelled at the physical side of bending but ignored the spiritual side..." as korra replied " I haven't ignored it, it doesn't just come to me as easy..." I'm going to just leave this here as reference going forward and just keep watching

Before Amon is heard over the radio at the beginning of the episode, an advertisement from Cabbage Corp can be heard. The voice-over the radio describes Cabbage Corp as "Republic City's trusted name in technology for over fifty years". This would mean that Republic City was, to some extent, up and running by 120 AG, a mere twenty years after the end of the Hundred Year War.
This is the first time that Tenzin uses airbending in combat on-screen.
During the Pro-bending Tournament's final match, three enthusiastic fans can be seen in the crowd dressed as Korra, Mako, and Bolin.

Korra has another vision of the past, this time with Aang going into the Avatar State. The vision also featured Yakone, who Korra saw in her vision in "The Voice in the Night", however, his full face is revealed this time, but his identity remained hidden.
This is the second known time Amon has used his abilities to remove people's bending permanently, the first being on members of the Triple Threat Triad in "The Revelation".
The two girls Tahno was with at Narook's Seaweed Noodlery in "The Spirit of Competition" are in the audience watching him.
Pabu performs a trick before the match similar to the one he performed in "The Revelation".
This is the first episode in which Tenzin's children did not appear.
This is the third episode in which Tenzin has the final line, the others being "The Revelation", "The Voice in the Night", and "Endgame".
This is the second consecutive episode in which a sudden death pro-bending round has taken place.
With so many either watching or rewatching Avatar and LoK over the quarantine this year, it's been interesting seeing so many fans return to say they may have misjudged the show years ago. There are some other more specific issues that merit discussion, but I think the time for them would be after you finish Season 4 or you're going to wind up with spoilers.

There's an official _Legend of Korra_ OST out for season 1 but unfortunately seasons/books 2-4 have yet to be officially released even after all these years (the composer Jeremy Zuckerman and crew are still fighting to get those released but I guess Nickelodeon is still being petty with any Korra content). Also, some of Abi's questions on the spiritual things will be answered in Book 2.
I love the first season of this show. The writing dips a bit in the second season and picks up again in the third.

I blame Nickelodeon for causing problems for the writers. Story could’ve been a lot better if they had been told from the get-go that they were going to get four seasons. Instead they were surprised with three more seasons after wrapping up season one with an ending, and then had to rush the writing for season two. 🙄
@Quilo Sky Right off the bat, I know they would’ve had Amon live and return later on, maybe even spark the Civil War between the north and south. And of course Korra would’ve had to begin her journey to get her powers back, and not just be handed them back by Aang. Perhaps she would’ve had to go to the spirit world for this reason, and open up the portals?

Don't worry too much about people who don't like it, I know that a lot of the audience received it well, but it had obviously its moments. The crew also had problems with Nickelodeon in the making of the seasons, budget and limitations, but I throughly enjoy Korra and it has some of my favourite characters in the entire world. It depends also by people's preferences and by some of the team's choices on the story, that kinda triggered that disapproval...sometimes people enjoy a different show and some people don't. I can't wait to see what you guys are gonna think of it. To the next reaction❤

I think there are actually 5, or more, books of Korra (in comic form), but they cancelled the show after book 4 which is really sad IMO. Who knows, maybe they'll make book 5 in another season at some point, at least I hope so.

Korra passed her fire bending test in the first episode. She has mastered the other two elements but she is not trained and skilled in actually fighting people and agitating to different environments because the white lotus sheltered her her whole life

Amon taking away bending is a little complicated but not as complicated as you think.
And yeah he is only here for book 1. But here's the best part. You might end up wanting more of him after the season ends.

The thing with Avatar The Last Airbender is that it's consistently good from beginning to end, with a planned story in all three books. Korra's writing suffers from inconsistent quality, simply due to the fact that the first book was announced as a one off, then the second book as another, and finally the show was greenlit for the third and fourth book.

By the way, most of the reasons for the criticisms come later in the series. You just have to realize that this series will not measure up to or be better than its parent show. If Avatar: The Last Airbender is a 9/10 then The Legend of Korra is an 8/10. If you keep your expectations lower, then you should continue having a great time.

There are a few problems people have with the show ( I personally enjoy it a lot especially after rewatching it). So people just don't like Korra because she is confrontational and always wanting to jump in a fight, she is immature and bratty at times, so since she isn't a monk who is a pacifist people are like "why does she do things different than Aang? " "she needs to be like aang blah blah blah" but thats just her personality and (semi spoilers) she experiences character growth over the course of the story between season 1 and 4 (shocking spoiler I know, the main character undergoes character growth), so like no duh she has character "flaws" which she has to deal with. Like she challenged Amon to a duel, that was rash and confrontational, and she is dealing with whether that was the smartest thing to do at the time (it wasn't imo). There is also people who don't think some villians are as compelling bc they aren't like azula and ozai, the literal personifications of evil and war in ATLA, who were the big bads in ATLA for the pretty much the entire time, or any of their lackeys (mai, ty lee, zhao, season 1 zuko) , but like new show new villians get over it. they also don't like how every episode isn't in a new location like ATLA was, boo hoo new show, we are exploring the birth of the modern world when bending is thrown in, get over it. there are things about how people use less "martial artsy" forms to do bending at times, but like we've seen people bend in a million forms already, not everyone has to be the most disciplined martial artist to bend, again, get over it. for example Bolin bends like a boxer, instead of like a traditional martial artist, but he didn't have formal training so uh no duh he has the form that he felt comfortable doing
also they feel like certain things in the story don't make sense for pacing or like what they tried to put in each season but when the show was being made they got a one season contract, then another 1 season contract, then a two season contract, and they were definitely not handed these contracts they had to fight for this show to continue. the network (allegedly) was against the protagonist being a female, a person of color, and then were against her being as strong as she is bc they didn't like her personality (allegedly). so (semi spoilers) people don't like how the stories of each season are somewhat disjointed but that's not the show writer's fault.
there are also specific choices by the show writers that people don't like cause they think they were bad choices but those people are just haters so booohoooooo
you guys were saying how they haven't done any spiritual stuff but even in episode 1 Korra and that hamster looking master dude talk about how she isn't very connected to the spiritual aspect of Avatardom, and she says it just isn't as easy for her as the physical bending is. But again this is just her being unlike Aang, who was a Air nomad, the most spiritually aware and connected culture in the world, so she has to work on spirituality and introspection while Aang had to learn the elements and how to confront his problems head on. like her day 1 of airbending training she couldn't meditate for even a minute, while Aang (a monk) was already very used to calming his mind and listening to the world around him when we meet him
I hope this was free of anything that is really a spoilers, but I really like the show and the issues people have with it are just nit-picky, and they let those overshadow a really cool exploration of what bending would be like in a circa 1900 world

Legend of Korra is good it's just different from the 1st series and people can't help themselves in the war of who is better Aang or Korra. As for Korra's mastery she has mastered Earth, Water, and Fire already over the past 10+ years but is just now learning Air and she does them differently from Aang because she's very aggressive.
Aggression isn't why it's different. Aang wasn't good at or didn't care for physical close combat hand to hand type battles unlike Zuko or Iroh. You'll notice that Korra's firebending style is very similar to Zuko's, very direct and in your face. Which is probably why most people associate it with aggression but a more correct term would be confrontational.

Part of the reason people have issues with Korra is that it's a sequel series to Avatar so it was compared to it a lot. Having seen both series all the way through I can say that Avatar is a solid A while Korra is a B. It's a good show but just not as good as Avatar so people tend to come down a bit harder on it then it really deserves.
The other issue is that the network was not as supportive of Korra as they were with the original Avatar. There was a lot of behind the scene's production issues with the creators not knowing if they would be renewed for almost every season and getting funds needed to produce the episodes. These ended up negatively effecting the quality of Korra though the issues show up more in season 2 and a bit of 4. The details can be found online but looking them up could also lead to spoilers.
The Title of this show should have been THE PTSD OF KORRA
It’s hard to say why people don’t like Korea without spoilers. I personally think it’s fine, but to each their own or whatever
