OMG I wish I could back in time when I received my first PSOne, no dlcs, no microtransactions, no online, if u wanted to play with ur friends, they needed to be at ur home, no downloads, no updates. I miss those days going to the game store and picking my favotire games, I made a lot of friends there buying the games I had :') I'm not crying xD

I don't know if a lot of today's generation realise the jump between the the 16 bit consoles mega drive and SNES to the 32 bit PS1 and N64.
When I got my PS1 I used to buy playstation magazine and play the demos. Every month there would be a free game on the disc by amateur programmers. Some were better than others.
A lot of the templates for today's games come from the winning formulas from ps1 or N64. Medal of honour to cod. FIFA 99, actua soccer 2 putting more attention to detail for a televised football experience. Gran turismo first serious racing game. Metal gear solid still one of the best games of all time, game changer. I don't think people realise in a couple of years we went from sonic the hedgehog to Jake taking diazapam to steady his rifle when fighting sniper wolf.
Crash bandicoot 1,2, and 3 though.
Best games in that genre, before or since.

Literally pure nostalgia, this is man. No one can ever compare the feelings you get from hearing that PS1 Intro, and remembering your childhood, and the good times. Still glad I still have and play on my PS1, and PS2 till this day. Nothing will ever be like this, how I wish I could go back to the good old days. How time flies honestly. Let alone, next week on the 19th of April, I'll be 20. Still going strong in 2022, as I play these iconic PS1 games.

My gosh...brings so much memories from my childhood. Stayed up late after homework was done and even snuck out to my neighbor’s house to play their games. I still have some of these games and my original ps1 system in all but my power cord is dead for a long time now.
While everyone’s talking about how they miss their Ps1. Here I am still gaming on mine.
I got my first ps1 and first ever console for 15 € (17$) with two controllers, two games and a cable for the TV (I forgot what they're called)
It works perfectly fine and looks almost brand new

I still play my actual PS1, N64, and Super Famicom on CRT televisions every day here in the year 2020. And it's like it never left! The Golden age of gaming never had to go. Because it never did! But at the same time... even if I can still play these games, it IS different that they are not the newest greatest thing! Also... its a huge loss that everything is realistic now a days. Back in the 90s you actually were encouraged to use your imagination! Which made me feel 100 times more connected to the stories and characters than ANYTHING made in the past 15 years or more!

Same here, although I tend to use emulation a lot more to not play my games to wear them out, some of them are extremely rare like Clock Tower.

Yeah you're right. I rely way to heavily on Internet help when I'm stuck on games these days. Partly because it's so readily available but also because I have less free time. That wasn't an option for me in the 90s growing up, and I would often be stuck on a part of a game for ages (nowhere from Silent Hill springs to mind). I miss the feeling of finally figuring something out after being stuck for ages.

I remember when they showcased the ps1 in our towns main shopping mall, We all lined up to play ridge racer and tekken.
Oh how I still remember when I played Silent Hill on PS1. It still remained as the most scariest game I ever played(yes yes Resident Evil 2).

When i was a kid i was OBSESSED with games. I remember being at friends houses and seeing their games i would have loved to own but didnt have the money. Now thanks to modern technology i can play pretty much every game back then for free on emulator

Yeah, who wants open world when you can have extreme 2d side scrolling excitement with games like Hercules and Tarzan, and 3d games that went 3d too soon and still have an entirely linear gameplay style just mapped out for you, just follow the path and collect the things, how innovative. And what a wacky idea to steal the idea for the Mario Kart right down to the sound effects, a game that came out 3 years earlier on a console released 2 years later.

28:18 a game called Final Fantasy IX...what a wonderful & creative game! This is the game that my older brother loved a lot and while we was playing I always sat next to him watching. We used to cover ourselves with a blanket that we still have nowadays... mine had blue, white and dark blue squares, whereas my brother's blanket was made off black, brown & orange squares. A part of my life 22 years ago....this memory brought me so many happy memories. Thx for sharing this game. God bless you all from Albania

No console is shit. I love a game with a story line not just graphics graphics graphics but, every game is different and the graphics today are amazing the detail they put into them but belive me I would rather have the ps1.
I forgot how good some of those games were. Foresaken was ahead of its time and resident evil games kept me glued to tv. Other games like Apocalypse I loved . I miss the 90s
