You are my hero! I remember coming across your Chanel early last year and thinking this was imposible for someone like me to get down, but you’re such a great teacher and I got most of this video’s exercises down, so thank you!
Superb instructional video, well shot, high quality photography, good sound, and crystal clear instruction. This is how it should be done. Thanks for posting.
You can get a decent tone on any guitar, its all about the touch and how hard you push into the fretboard when tapping. Practice it over and over again to avoid getting any buzz.
Hey man, this tutorial was really helpful man, learnt loads. Just had a question, I was struggling loads on learning a piece which involved 2 hand tapping. I have to tap bass with right hand up on the neck, and play melody with fretting hand, with tapping only. Problem is, I cannot get volume out of hammering on and off and tapping with my fretting hand only, its much too quiet compared to my bass sound. Also, you got any tips on hand independence, for playing percussion with right hand and tapping melodies with fretting hand only?
Great!!! I´ll do it! Just a question, do you use any compressor when you play live. When I play rythm the sound comes too loud, but when I tap or play a single string the sound is softer. I was wondering if I should use a compressor or something like that. Or is it a question of control strenght? any advice? Thanks agian man.
Its a steel string but this can be done on a nylon string as well. You just won't get as loud of an attack but you gotta deal with what you've got, right?
Great lesson! Im a finger picker that plays w a thumb pick and my nails are a little longer on my right hand and seem to get in the way any suggestions?
Brother Dave Blues You can try to angle the fingers more so you’re using more of the fingerprint vs the fingertip. Let me know if that works as I have longer nails on my picking hand too.
Yes I noticed that your nails are also slightly longer on your picking hand… Will give it a try thank you for your response and for the great video 😁🙏☮️
Its personal preference for most parts but why not build the strength in the other finger just in case you have to use it for two fret tappings? Same with traditional fingerstyle players using only Thumb, Index, Middle. I believe using PIMA has more advantages long term.
I have a question! After checking out many players including yourself I decided to go for long finger nails, not on the thumb just the fingers. But tapping get's a little difficult because the nails get in the way, what do you recommend for that?
@TnJcanodezo Sure but its different for everyone, the length I mean. All I do is put acrylic gel on top of my real nail just to reinforce it. A nice oval shape and BAM!
Whenever i try to tap and pull off to open with my strumming hand around the 12 fret of the higher strings i always get these dissonant metallic overtones that just kill whatever i'm trying to compose. Do you know anything i could do to fix this?
hey maneli im a beginner guitar player (9 months since i started) and i like to fingertap but when i tap the higher frets it makes a metallic sound that just sounds weird, like metal is clashing at metal, also it makes the tone of course, but also this weird sound. i have a pretty decent beginner guitar 185€ (Fender CD60), is it because of my technique or is it something else?
Actually in ex. 1 is different what you do when playing and when explaining the exercise :) But thank you for this lesson! A question: what's the advantage to pull-of downside after tapping with right hand? For example I tend to pullof upside ^^
Hello! Not being a dick here, you videos are great and I'm learning a lot.. but, I think your explanation at the beginning is incorrect and it kinda threw me off. At 1:24 roughly you show to hammer on and pull of on the 5th fret with your index finger, then to tap only once on the 1st fret with the left hand, then you say 'do the exact same thing but on the G string', which is a hammer on 5th fret with middle finger and again only one single tap with the left hand but on the 2nd fret. This is all fine, but that's not what you play next, the actual piece (so far as I can tell) is a first tap from the right hand 5th fret followed by BOTH the 1st fret and then the 2nd fret played by the left hand, followed again by the right hand 5th fret and BOTH the 1st fret tap and 2nd fret tap with the left hand, and so on so forth. so em, wassup wit dat? Once again love ur videos. No disrespect intended.
I just tried to clarify, and was clear to say that I appreciates the video. If we wanted to 'just use our ears' we wouldn't be here trying to learn. Why don't you disappear man- no one asked for ur shitty take :)

Out of curiosity, do you find an advantage to hitting the bass notes with your i and m fingers, rather than with an i finger barre?
Glad to hear it man!

My acoustic doesnt make a lot of sound when I tap? Is it supposed to make small sounds?
Follow through with the finger. You may need more strength in them too.

Thanks! Its a Cole Clark Triumph

why the sound of my guitar is not loud when I'm tapping. how to increase the volume? What's the secret? Is there a proper string gauge for tapping?
