I got a broken bone on my left hand a few years ago. Even today it hurts as hell everytime I use my guitar, but still trying to get better at it, just because of the sake of it. You really helped me through this technique, so thank you so much. You really made my day.
Dude wtf I been playing guitar for 10 years and I tried so many times watching videos all over this time and you are the only guy that actually knows how to explain it really simple and now I finally can play false harmonics, kudos man
Dude, your videos are fantastic. Wish I had this 15 years ago when I was starting. Still learning something from every video. That 12th fret trick is one of the most important fundamentals of guitar IMO, though it requires accurate intonation.
Very cool and useful technique! I think it's also a good idea to practice plucking the string with a finger other than the thumb so that the thumb is free to pluck the lower strings. You can play some really beautiful things by using your thumb to pluck the bass strings while your other fingers play artificial harmonic melodies! This technique is used in classical guitar a fair amount.
Once you mentioned math I ditched my room while the video was playing and went to the park until it was over, then came back afterwards. I graduated high school with this technique, so I should be able to do artificial harmonics anytime now.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I've been struggling with articificial harmonics since forever, and you expained them so well I just picked my guitar up and played them Live long and prosper
i played a pinch harmonic by accident when fooling around with my guitar and since then i been researching like crazy on the internet on how to do it again and here i'am, thank u so much, u couldn't explained it so much better
he saved me from 5 years of trying to figure this technique out alone. I really appreciate what you've done to the guitar learners. TQ from the bottom of my heart.
I love these, been playing around with them for the last few weeks (since watching Mike Dawes...mindblowing) - I discovered through fiddling that the 7th fret harmonic is duplicated at the 19th fret (on my 14 fret Faith and Taylor, don't know if it's the same on 12 fretters...), which is very convenient for the strumming/picking hand, being so close to where it normally is, and the 5th fret harmonics are duplicated a little way over the sound hole, takes a bit of practise to get that one right each time because there's no fret to mark the spot, but it's a really nifty way to add an unexpected harmonic. Fun times 😁
It’s so strange to me how every player is so different...most seem to find this video super helpful, I watched it twice over and have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about here for 6 n a half mins 😂...i watched another afterwards where a dude just shows what he does with his hands up close, got it immediately. In any case, the 12th fret trick is the beez-neez, thanks man!
I have watched many videos trying to get this right and you are correct after watching your lesson i started to develop the technique within minutes, ( E B G D ) on the 12 th fret reminded me immediately of harvest moon ( neil young ) thanks for the lesson tony .
MAN! You really helped me... I found this song with a Chord with a "artificial harmonic" down below it, I was hella confused. Took me Like 4 Long vids and still couldn't get until I found your vid, it took me half a minute to Understand how it works Ty!!!
He guaranteed that i could do it after the end of the video. At first i thought natural and artificial harmonic are the extraordinary techniques for those who mastered the guitar. However, he guaranteed that its possible for me to learn it so early....I gave it a try and it actually worked. Thanks alot man, you are the very first person i saw that explain such technique in the most accurate way! (Ps: Im extremely surprised with the result)
Great video! One thing I'd like to add is that once you have this basic strategy down, you should learn to pluck the string with your ring finger too. This will free up your thumb to pluck base notes simultaneously, and it sounds incredible. It is definitely more tricky than using the thumb, but it will unlock so much more potential for your playing.
holy shit. I am amazed that it's possible to do this. I saw somebody (Sky Guitar) do an artificial harmonic in a video and hadn't heard of that and had to look it up and I'm so impressed and excited to play this. thanks for the tutorial :) :)
This is so cool. I was thinking about how to do this earlier today and said, I bet you could just go 12 frets above the fretted note and I'm sure the 7th and 5th fret harmonics would work too.
So glad you didn't edit out the mistakes.. i think it's important for beginners to realise that even teachers and pros make mistakes.. stressing on the importance of practice..
The eureka moment that made this a lot easier was realizing that tiiting my guitar towards me so I could see the strings was making me inconsistent. To align your index finger and plucking finger, you want them to both be on the same vertical distance from the target string. However, if you tilt the guitar towards your face, now every string is a different vertical distance and so now you don't just need to remember align horizontal distance between the Low E and high E, but you also need to compensate for the change in vertical distance because the guitar is tilted! So if you hold the guitar vertically, you simplify it to only have to move your right hand in the X-axis(target fret), Y-axis (string selection), and you DON'T need to adjust Z-axis (string height) because that'll be kept consistent on every string as long as you're not tilting the guitar.
Hey, Tony! I've always wanted to figure out this technique, and you've nailed its foundations to the wall perfectly! But then again, you are the magician of technicians for technical teaching! LOL Thanks, man!
Excellent video! When I first saw TE and Paula Heosin play artificial harmonics a few years ago, I could not figure out what was going on near the 12th fret. But you have made that so clear! I wonder if similar techniques work at the 7th and 5th frets. I am anxious to experiment!
Excellent video. What about playing a whole chord as a artificial harmonic? Eg not arrogated. I’ve seen this done and it’s driving me crazy how to do it! Same principle I guess just hard to pull off.
Finally someone who explains this technique the right way. Thanks man.
Kinda like a father would 🥰

@@quima5844 Nah, random guy from internet

Sir, you save life. If I could only like this a million times then I would. You don't know how happy I am for this video. Thank you so much
I like everytime he says “ what the hell”
Me too 😁
Me too my stomach hurts so much when he said: " FIRST OF ALL WHAT THE HELL IS HARMONICS " hahahaha
You're a good guitar teacher.
Once you mentioned math I ditched my room while the video was playing and went to the park until it was over, then came back afterwards. I graduated high school with this technique, so I should be able to do artificial harmonics anytime now.
Harmonics are like the coolest thing on the guitar in my opinion. So obsessed with learning them.
THANK YOU SO MUCH

Thank you. I was so confused and no one else in other videos was explaining what harmonics actually are but now I finally get it
he saved me from 5 years of trying to figure this technique out alone. I really appreciate what you've done to the guitar learners. TQ from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks brother, I've been searching for this technique all my life.
After seeing a handful of your videos, it’s safe to say you are the best guitar instructor on UA-cam. You simplify things and talk very eloquently
Thank you for your kind words and for watching :-)
Thanks. I've been wondering what this AH thing is and you've just explained it so clearly!! Thanks again!

I've been looking for someone to finally explain this the proper way. Thanks!

I can't belive It's that easy thank you so much spent about 15mins practicing and it's like I've been doing it for months

This is amazing and a great way to add another great sound to your playing thanks!

Thanks, figured this out right away. You can do it from the third and fifth fret harmonics too with the same equation.
Very easy to understand, easier and better than other videos. Thanks!
Finally, someone who explains this technique clearly, many many thx,

I was always intimidated by this technique, but you made it very approachable. Thanks.
Thanks man 👍👍👍
Been trying to learn where exactly to pluck everytime I try to do harmonics, and now, I finally found the answer.
It's been like 1-2 years since I wanted to learn the technique. Finally, I am able to know the technique. Thanks man.a
Thank you for making it easier to understand for a newbie like me ❤
